- Following titles belong into the so called Kaga Saga, named by fans of the Fire Emblem series. - Shouzo Kaga is the father and game designer of the Fire Emblem series, more about him here. - In 1999, after the release of Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, he left Intelligent Systems. - He founded a new company and a new series where he was able to continue with his vision for the Fire Emblem series. - While these games aren't part of the Fire Emblem series, they share many similarities and reflect what the series was meant to become. - These title often put much higher emphasis on strategy and planning than newer FE titles. - They are well liked for their amazingly written characters, relationships, music and world building, but also their difficulty and complexity.

BS Fire Emblem: Archanean War Chronicles (1997)

  • Depending on who you ask, it's either Archanean War Chronicles or Akaneian War Chronicles.
  • Consists of four standalone chapters set before the events of Shadow Dragon (FE1/FE11).
  • The chapter were release in an episodic format and distributed through Satellaview peripheral service for SNES.
  • The main objective is to earn as many points as possible while completing the map within the given time limit.
  • The BGMs were also broadcasted through this service. Therefore, the chapters contain no BGMs, only sound effects.

Fire Emblem 0 (Cipher) (2015)

• Summary:
  • The game is a CCG/TCG type of game where two players select their main character/lord and proceed to use their decks to build an army to defeat the opponent's main character/lord.
  • The game was released in 2015 and was discontinued in 2020 after releasing the last, 22th, series of cards.
  • There seems to be two pieces of software people use to play the game virtually. LackeyCCG and Tabletop Simulator.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (2015)

  • Set in modern-day Tokyo.
  • The story follows the members of a talent agency during their conflicts with hostile beings from another world called Mirages.

  • Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is the Switch version of the same game with some changes and a bit of extra content.
  • The Wii U version is currently the superior version, because the Switch version:
    1. is based on the international, censored release,
    2. can't be played at higher resolutions.
       
    • If neither of these two reasons seem important to you, then choose the Switch version.
  • The Wii U version:

    • can be played at higher resolutions,
    • has no Quick Session option to speed up Session attacks,

  • It’s a hodgepodge of characters from all FE games plus a few original characters.

  • These kinds of games are usually very grindy and incentivise spending real money, either for:

Fire Emblem: Three Houses (2019)

Vestaria Saga I: War of the Scions (2016)

  • The game is known as:
    • Vestaria Saga I: Knight of the Fallen Kingdom and the Star Priestess in Japan and was released in 2016,
    • Vestaria Saga I: War of the Scions outside of Japan and was released in 2019.
  • The game came out for free in Japan, but the localization producer, Dangen, put a cost on it.
    • It is unknown what percentage of profits from sales, if any, are for Kaga and his team.
