"I-I call... W-Wooper from Team Cozy!"
From behind the backstage curtain, Wooper suddenly jumps out wearing a soft red scarf instead of his usual red bandana. He immediately runs up to the edge of the stage and bows before the audience. The audience lets out an "aww", and I see Chespin in the crowd cheering Wooper on.
Shelby looks him up and down, but her confident smile doesn't waver at all. "Alright then, let's see you beat this!" Shelby takes out an orb from her bag, and then throws it into the air. She then rolls onto her back, and when the orb lands on her, she starts batting it into the air like how a housecat would play with a ball of yarn.
"I have to admit, that rambunctious little Skitty is cute," Beast says.
"Same..." Pika says while sighing. "And without Chespin, Team Cozy is only half as cute... Wooper and Chespin are sort of a package deal, y'know? They're so kyute together... just imagining them doing... kyute things..."
"I-If I s-see your n-nose st-start to bleed, I'll m-make sure the r-rest of your b-body does t-too," My comment quickly makes Pika regain control of herself. "T-Trust in W-Wooper. I-I'm sure h-he's got s-something up his s-sleeve. E-Even if he c-can't wear a-any."
Wooper stares at Shelby for a moment, then he suddenly takes out an orb of his own from under his scarf. He headbutts it into the air directly above him, then he fires a stream of water from his mouth to keep the orb in the air. The audience "ooo"s and "aah"s at Wooper's display, and Shelby stops her little performance to watch with awe. But then she quickly remembers this is a competition, and focuses back on her own orb.
She starts to kick the orb away from her and chase it around with her paws out, trying to up the ante. Some of Wooper's water splashes near her and she leaps away from it in shock, losing hold of the orb as it rolls away from her. She scrabbles to get hold of it again, looking frazzled. The orb shatters, blinding Shelby with a blast of light that causes her to let out an ear-piercing yowl that makes most of the audience wince.
Wooper completely ignores the antics of his opponent and increases the power of his Water Gun, shooting the orb even higher into the air. The increased pressure of the water makes it shoot out around the sides of the orb, and it looks like some of the droplets will fall onto the crowd. But Wooper suddenly stops firing off water, and instead shoots some weak blasts of ice into the air, turning the falling water into snowflakes that slowly float down onto the audience. The orb falls back to earth, and Wooper jumps into the air and does a flip so it gets snatched up by his open bag. When he lands back on the ground, Wooper once again does a little bow before the audience.
I float up from my seat and clap, and my two fellow judges follow suit, followed by the whole crowd. Shelby is rubbing her eyes, still trying to recover from getting blinded by her own orb.
"Absolutely brilliant performance, Wooper!" Beast yells. "You blew that Skitty's act out of the park!"
"Well, it was a bit more 'cool' than 'cute', but it was fun to watch!" Pika says.
(I knew I could trust in Wooper!) "T-Team C-Cozy once a-again shows th-they're the p-peak of a-adventure teams... e-even when o-only half of th-the team is there."
Chespin hops onto the stage and picks up Wooper with his vines, spinning him around happily for a bit before setting him down. "Great job, Wooper!"
Pika walks up to the edge of the stage next to Wooper and Chespin. "Well, I'm guessing there won't be any objections to declaring Wooper the winner here?" The audience cheers, and no one seems to object other than Shelby, who's now pouting.
"Awww, no way!" Shelby finally breaks out of her daze and shakes some water off of herself, causing her fur to puff up a bit. "I totally would have won if I didn't drop that orb!" She seems to be scolding herself more than anyone else, but still looks cranky all the same. The defeated Skitty then scampers off the stage via one of the stairways on the sides, and disappears back into the crowd.
"Glad that's over with," Pika says. "Now, who's ready to see some more kyute guildmembers!?"
