It's not often that a perverted comic relief character has any room for deeper meaning, what makes Teruteru so interesting to me is that when it comes to interpretation... there's many layers. I personally see nothing wrong with just viewing him as an annoying, sexual harasser, ugly, and not the brightest freak. But in my own opinion... for almost any Danganronpa character out there... you could debate that they have a lot more going on than just surface level. I mean, they all have free time events, a chance to get to know them more than what you already do, and even the first victims and blackened usually continue to give you more and more information for you to consume. That being said, a lot of what Hanamura is, is really up to my own imagination. I like to think that DR is pretty well known for giving you the building blocks of a character but not giving you all the other little pieces. I guess that's probably why headcanons are especially popular in the fandom, but who knows.
I always thought the concept of the remnants of despair was really interesting, it basically slaps you in the face and tells you that out of the entire SDR2 cast no one is innocent. They're all TERRORISTS... that have committed absolutely atrocious crimes, I've seen some people debate that Teruteru was the worst..? But honestly I think that's a little far fetched. Yes he was cannibalizing people, and probably worse things beyond that, but we really don't know what everyone did. I think people just assume Hanamura is the worst because he's really fucking creepy and he ate his own mother so god knows what else he'd be willing to do. But the whole point behind the remnants is that they did whatever caused them the most "despair". Teruteru hides behind a lot of pride, and his mother was his favorite person in the whole world. Killing her, and practically throwing away his good cooking skills to cook people instead of meals only made the most sense. If we use context clues, everyone probably murdered their families, and that's not to say Teruteru is a saint because he's far from it even before the reveal of him being a remnant.

Hello Teruteru ramble page I am back to rant about baking soda because I miss them a lot. Today I was thinking about how Kazuichi and Teruteru both go through stages of clinginess and have jealousy issues. I think Souda is a little more vocal about it but to be fair no one wants Hanamuras UGLY AHHH anyways. Im going to write more later today I just wanted to share that baking soda was on my mind. I have been thinking about making a seperate ramble about baking soda strictly on /bakingsoda but idk (insert drooling emoji here) hi chopped ahh you know who you are i miss you already~~~
