i'll update this with more stuff once i dive (haha, get it. dive.) into greek mythology more as a whole but i absolutely love his portrayal in epic the musical, especially laritamiauu's depiction of him which is by far my favorite. i feel like it really represents to anyone uneducated what kind of god he truly is. okay, and maybe because they made him really attractive, but that is HARDLY my fault. i also like the darker blue shaded version of him and his longer teeth 'cause they're cute. he's not very cute trying to murder odysseus' entire crew but he's just going for that dad of the year award. for one of his, uh, countless children. i think it's in the hundreds but at least he isn't like zeus who's decided to connect everyone biologically. i do want to mention other creators who drew && animated poseidon so i'm gonna stick gigi! in here because i loved the more animalistic (is that the word) part she added with the whole tentacles and all as well as him like stabbing at odysseus like he's prey he's chasing. gosh, i love the way she draws odysseus. i also adore neal's illustration of him because, oh my gods, but i think it's such a neat detail how his missing arm forms out the water like a fuckin' claw. as well as his braids which i just think are neat because, yes, he takes the time to braid them. everyone seems to collectively agree he has long hair so i wonder if he has a hair routine. i must include neal's animation specifically for get in the water because it pays so much attention to detail and is honestly unsettling. the way he nods at the fact poseidon is also the god of horses (which i think is pretty funny considering it's not often mentioned) and turns them fucking unsettling because of his bloodlust to odysseus after waiting that long to take revenge is insane. listening to ruthlessness over again makes me want to gush over the lyrics over all the songs he's in (there is never enough appearances of him) and i can safely say ruthlessness and get in the water are looped and loved. six hundred strike does not tier as high for me because i see it more as a odysseus centric song and it has a different vibe to it. i do love his spoken parts where his voice is all rough and he's cocky because he doesn't realize just how far odysseus has been pushed. the trope of immortal being unable to die but being able to be tortured is one of my favorite tropes despite having only seen it twice (tgcf mention). it never fails to unsettle me, of course, but i still do adore it because it's so inhumane. the part where he's getting stabbed has that same effect on me but i, admittedly, cannot take it seriously when he starts singing in pain because his voice is just so.. melodic. he's just like stooop like a disney princess which, i KNOW, but his voice is beautiful. even with his pain. the justification behind both of them is interesting though poseidon's pettiness can seriously not be matched. i mean, really, biding his time that long? all for polyphemus? though it was, of course, to prove a point rather than for the care of him. i still think it's funny how polyphemus knew when odysseus literally revealed absolutely everything to him in the face of making a point. as if he was invincible. odysseus' hubris was constantly the downfall of him throughout epic and i'm shocked worse didn't happen to him, especially when he tried to claim himself a god to circe in done for. i mean, really? the grin on polyphemus' face, specifically in wolfy's remember them just really dug it home. though, of course, i love mircsy's polyphemus because it's such an interesting illustration of him. he's like a fucked version of what a cyclops is described to be. poseidon does take it too far but he's rarely as gracious as he claimed (that temper flares so much) so it's not shocking. it's even better because he's not really wrong in ruthlessness since the way odysseus acted was what was making everything go to ruins in his life. sure didn't kill enough of his crew to really push that point though. odysseus, the man you are (positive or negative...). anyway, this is about poseidon, not him, so yes. i love you poseidon (shoutout to the introject of him who's done with everyone's shit). i might include some poetry in here if i'm feeling fantastical. or art. but i really hate doing stuff for myself so i suppose we'll see. hellenism is a wonderful thing to indulge in. i like it when people put shipwrecks in his hair, that's such a neat artistic feature. i wanna play with them like toy boats in a tub. poseidon in a tub, what will he do
