painite was a crystal who emerged from the earth confused and disoriented, and has never recovered. he grew normally under the care of his elder crystals and kongou-sensei. however, unlike most crystals of their hardness, they refused to engage in combat. they loves protecting their family, but they fear being hurt or lost after an injury that left their face permanently disfigured. their inclusions, being so particular in regards to minerals, and other painite being a near impossible find, they were left without half their face.
instead of engaging in the war against the moon, painite took on the role of a scavenger, helping his family by finding materials and herbs needed around the compound. he works closely with rutile, constantly checking what they need more of and what he can avoid temporarily. they have a strong love for the land they call their home, and in specific, the plants found around their home. he keeps a handful of plants around the compound, insisting they brighten the place up. they also have an extensive amount of knowledge for the plants they hold dear to their core.
painite is a soft person despite their detached exterior. he wants to be seen as cool and smart, but deep down he knows this is just not who he is. he lacks a lot of close connections as a result of this. they struggle to express the love they hold for all their fellow crystals, and as such, show it through actions as opposed to words. he has an extreme fear of fighting the lunarians and will break down if he is alone when a sun spot appears. despite this, they will always put on a brave exterior and attempt to help however they can in fights. painite is an extremely creative person and tends to fill in the empty spaces in their time by sewing and painting. a lot of the clothes he wears are actually sewn by him during his free time.
