How To Roleplay With Claude Sonnet 3.7
Guide For Dummies
Part One
Introduction
Hello and welcome! I'm MarinaraSpaghetti. You may know me from my past model reviews, merges such as NemoMix-Unleashed-12B, various prompts and guides, or simping for ‘that weird blue-haired doctor with pronouns.’

Guide Synopsis
The guide will introduce you to Claude's models and guide you step-by-step for an easy plug-and-go experience if you're only starting your adventure with the model.
Personally, I find Sonnet 3.7 to be my new favorite go-to model. It's smart, has a good unloaded style, pays INSANE attention to detail, and works great in longer contexts. The only downsides are occasional repetitions and not-so-great erotic scenes. But if you want full sicko mode with ERP, you're better off with Deepseek R1, that one is absolutely WILD.
Preparations
Before we dive in, make sure to:
- Install the newest staging branch of SillyTavern, if you don't have it yet.
- Have a character card of your choice prepared, or use my Dottore if you wish.
All done? Then let's get the party going.
Part Two
API Key
You need either Claude or OpenRouter API Key. Personally, I don't recommend using OpenRouter due to more censored and slower versions of the model, and sussy tactics of cutting out the middle of your context aside (thankfully, new SillyTavern versions allow you to turn that off).
Follow the steps below:
- Go to https://console.anthropic.com/dashboard and log in.
- Go to https://console.anthropic.com/settings/keys.
- Press the "+ Create Key" button at the top right corner.
- Choose the Workspace and name for the key, and press the "Add" button.
- Copy the key.
- Open your SillyTavern tab.
- Choose the API Connections tab (the plug icon).
- API -> Chat Completion.
- Chat Completion Source -> Claude.
- Claude API Key -> Paste your key.
- Claude Model -> claude-3-7-sonnet-latest.
- Press Connect.
That's it! Congratulations!
Payment
Now comes the unpleasant part. All Claude models are paid. It's time to pull out your mom's credit card.
- Go to https://console.anthropic.com/settings/billing.
- Click the "Buy credits" button.
- Finish up the payment process.
- I recommend starting with a $5 charge and limiting how much is spent daily.
Settings
Now that's done you're all set up! All that is left is downloading my settings and plugging them in.
- Download my settings from here.
- Go to your SillyTavern tab.
- Click the top left icon with the sliders.
- Import the settings.
That's it! you're all set! Give yourself a pat on the back and enjoy!
I also recommend checking out Pixie's prompt. It's excellent, I only don't use it because my settings feel better for my personal use case. Give it a go and see if it works for you better: Pixijb! Kudos!
Part Three
General Advice
- Turn on the reasoning in the settings if you'd like to witness the model's thinking process.
- I didn't find the prefills necessary, but you may add them if required.
- Don't touch the samplers other than Temperature. Enabling Top K or Top P makes the model more repetitious.
- Claude leans on the more positive side of things, so be aware.
- It detects subtext absurdly well, so avoid stating everything explicitly unless you want it to start doing the same.
- Price spikes at higher contexts. Lower the context and use summaries and lore books to save up money.
Softban
If you ERP carelessly, you might start getting refusals. That means you were softbanned, and now there is an extra anti-NSFW and pro-ethical instruction appended to your latest user message. Do not fret; there's an easy fix to that!
Use my updated settings with an in-built JB from here.
The main difference? A gaslighting tactic was added to the instructions.
100% foolproof results.
