Kimagure Temptation 2 AI Translation
Hello guys. A couple of you may know me from the other small AI patches I've made, the A Sky Full of Stars AI Restoration and the Kinkoi Golden Time BugBug Append. Now I bring you Kimaten 2, fully translated with Google Gemini 2.5 Pro. Google's new model is surprisingly uncensored and way smarter than Claude Sonnet 3.7, which I had used previously.
However, this patch is not edited nor QA'd. Frankly, Gemini did well enough that I didn't feel a need to make many edits, but there are definitely things it misinterpreted that I either missed or didn't bother to fix. At the very least I made sure the terminology was consistent, even if they sometimes weren't the best localization choices.
Gemini 2.5 Pro is free through Google AI Studio, so this didn't cost me a dime—only the time it took for me to figure out how to edit the scripts and images. Fun fact, I had to make a program to automatically edit image files so that I could translate all of them without spoiling myself. I even went the extra mile to translate most of the menus manually with Photoshop (some more lazily than others).
Truth is, I've actually had this finished since early May 2025. But issues with my computer and then personal life led me to losing my fleeting interest in VNs. Early 2025 was the first time I was interested in VNs since late 2022, and who knows when the next time will be. At this point, despite Kimaten 2 not being a bad game, I have absolutely no will to replay it to perform a QA pass, nor do I want to bother making a QA team or anything like that. But now it's late August and the patch has just been rotting on my SSD, so now I finally figure, fuck it, why not just release it? If there are major issues, I'll fix them, but minor issues? Fuck it. Most of the work I've done was just so I could enjoy this alone, and honestly I'm not that proud of this patch, but releasing it publicly does make the work I did do slightly more meaningful. This patch is for people who are ok with reading AI translation but don't want to do the actual work themselves.
Download and Installation
Download: v1.0 Mediafire (.7z) [44MB]
Installation: Copy the contents of Patch Files into the game folder. All the files in that folder should be in the same place that kimaten2.exe is. Your game folder will be littered with .MES and .AKB files. It's messy, but this is the only easy way to patch the game.
Optional: The Optional Font Fix folder contains a modified font that fixes tildes (~), used for cutesy~ language. The original font renders tildes high like this ˜, and cutesy˜ just doesn't hit as hard. This patch is optional because a dll is required to inject the modified font file, and I know some people are uncomfortable with running random dlls. The dll is from VNTranslationTools.
Epilogue: Epilogue (OPEN AFTER TRUE ENDING) contains an mp4 video file of the game's epilogue but with English subtitles. This epilogue is normally accessible from the last slot of the Item menu upon getting the true ending, however it's just an image with an audio track, meaning I couldn't put the translation in-game. The audio was transcribed with OpenAI's Whisper and translated with Gemini 2.5 Pro.
Thoughts on the game
The first game in the series honestly didn't leave too much of an impression on me, except for the fact that having a spirit girlfriend was cool. The mere existence of a second game however was far more intriguing, because unlike a typical fan disk, it would have actual plot, while having a pre-established romantic dynamic. The game itself honestly ended up being nothing too impressive, a small step down from the first game even, but the plot was still put together nicely and I enjoyed having two leads that I knew were inseparable.
Special Thanks
Once again, I didn't ask anyone for help, but this wouldn't have been possible if it weren't tools other have made and shared.
VNTranslationTools — Provided VNTextPatch which effortlessly extracted every script file. If it weren't for some translations that overflowed the message box, it would've worked perfectly for patching in the translations as well. Also provided VNTextProxy which is used for the optional font fix.
mesScriptAsseAndDisassembler — Not just a disassembler, but also a reassembler! After a lot of analysis of the disassembled scripts and a couple updates to the code, this enabled me to add new lines into the script, allowing me to split lines that were too long to fit into the message box.
GSIWinNewTools — This translation project almost died until I found this tool. Not only is all of the journal entry text in this game just image files, it turns out there are nearly 200 lines that are actually just big images. With the game using a weird proprietary image format, I thought it was over. But I decided to desperately use Github code search to look up certain keywords, and lo and behold, this tool with literally no documentation popped up. It fucking worked right out of the box. Thanks, random Chinese guy (or girl)—you've saved the day.
Google Gemini 2.5 Pro — Carried the entire project, from writing a lot of the tooling, writing the program that automatically translated and edited the image files, to most of all, translating every script.
OpenAI Whisper — One of the few actually 'open' things OpenAI has released. Was used to transcribe the audio-only epilogue into text which I could then translate and turn into subtitles.

While my Discord DMs are open, I never actually check my Friend Requests nor Message Requests. If you wish to contact me, join either the Yuzusoft Fan Server or Sagaplanets Fan Server, go to the #other-vns channel, then ping me @hanaaa__. Especially contact me if you have any compliments or technical issues, but don't bother contacting me over translation mistakes unless they're earthshattering.
