TEMPORARY hi everyone!! these past few days from the 23rd of march to today, the 30th, have been very important to me! on the 23rd of march 1943, aleks bestfriend, jan bytnar "rudy", was arrested by the gestapo along with his father. he spent the next 3 days getting brutally tortured, and on the 26th of march, 1943, he was rescued during operation arsenal (during which alek got fatally shot). 4 days later, on the 30th of march 1943, both rudy and alek passed away from their injuries. remember to simply keep these boys in mind, maybe light a candle in their honor! thank you and have a great 30th of march :)

maciej aleksy "alek" dawidowski was a polish resistance fighter during world war 2, a second lieutenant in the home army and a scoutmaster in the greyranks, he had been a boy scout since his teenage years ཻུ۪۪♡.

he was born on the third of november, 1920 in drohobych. even though drohobych is ukrainian now, he is 100% polish as the borders have changed since then.. and it ised to be poland. his mothers name was janina dawidowska, his fathers name was aleksy dawidowski (who he got his second name from) and his sisters name was maryla (maria) strzembosz-dawidowska.

janina was arrested in 1942 and sent to the ravensbruck concentration camp, she survived the war but her death date is unknown. his father was shot to death in 1939, and his sister survived the war and lived till 2007! alek went to the gimnazjum named after stefan batory in warsaw along with his best friends, jan "rudy" bytnar and tadeusz "zoska" zawadzki.

one of his most famous actions is "akcja kopernik" which was the removal of a german plaque (that said "the great german astronomer") on a statue of nicolaus copernicus (mikolaj kopernik) which resulted in a 'war of monuments' but i kind of dont feel like going into detail about it here.. find it on /diversion

on the 26th of march, 1943, during the rescue mission to save rudy aka "operation arsenal" alek commanded the "grenades" section in the "attack" group. unfortunately, after the rebound of the prisoners, alek got gravely injured during a gun fight.

he was transported by a stopped german car, where he threw his last grenade through the ajar door in the direction of the germans, which made it possible for everyone to return safely. sadly, alek passed away 4 days later, on the 30th of march, due to the gun shot wound.

he was posthumously awarded with the cross of the order of virtuti militari 5th class, and the commanders cross with the star of the order of polonia restituta.

alek had blond hair and bright blue eyes, he was described as exceptionally tall for his time, athletic and lean. he did sports such as skiing (which was his favorite) basketball track and swimming. he never put much effort into his appearance, very effortessly handsome if you ask me 🎶♥︎

he was said to be very cheerful and optimistic about everything, even in hard times. he was sometimes described as childish. he put others before himself, even risking his life to save a friend. he believed in sacrifice for a greater cause. alek loved doing, he thrived in high-risk situations and had a taste for daring operations, sabotage missions, removing nazi symbols, and direct action. alek's demeanor was characterized by a constant smile, rapid and enthusiastic speech, and expressive gestures, reflecting his energetic personality. ‪‪❤︎‬. he was most likely an enfp, im not into those things but if anyone cares.. theres that.

alek was multilingual, theres not much information about how he did in school, but we do know he could speak polish, german, and french. he preferred sports over other subjects.

even though his name was maciej, everyone, including himself, referred to him as "aleksy" or most commonly, "alek", which was also his codename.

he had many nicknames, such as alek, axy, aluś, kopernicki, glizda, koziorożec and dryblas.

he was very much a "mama's boy". he always helped her as much as he could, and when she was arrested he blamed himself for it and considered giving himself to the gestapo just so they would set her free.

alek had a collection of hats. his favorites were cowboy hats, while there are no photos of him wearing one, it is said in "rudy, alek, zoska" that when basia first saw him, he was wearing a white cowboy hat! 𐚁 how charming he was.

about barbara sapinska

he was engaged to barbara (basia) sapinska, and while i am insanely in love with him, i do not mind her one bit. she has all my respect. after his death, she moved on and married another man that she started a family with. and that is why i hold absolutely nothing against her! besides, shes so relatable and sweet. how could i not love her? (IM NOT A CUCK) im sure she wouldnt mind me anyway okay but did you know i got an autograph from basias friend? yes i know thats basically like getting an autograph from alek himself amirite

also about barbara, i really resonate with her and i think we have plenty of things in common. not just being in love with alek, of course.. i think shes incredible and really cool, i have so much love for her. shes definitely one of my favorites ᰔᩚ

while were at the topic of aleks actor, and by extension the kamienie na szaniec 2014 movie.. no. just no. i hate it, and i think its very inaccurate. first of all, it focuses solely on zoska and rudy, and theres barely anything about alek. it focuses way too much on rudys and his girlfriends relationship for some ungodly reason, and the actors look NOTHING like the real zoska rudy and alek.

about the akcja pod arsenalem 1978 film, i think its amazing, and its definitely one of my favorites of all time. but again, the actors are.. something. except for zoskas actor, because he looks really similar to him! even someone that knew alek personally said aleks actor looks really off!

about the book itself

ok so kamienie na szaniec is my favorite book. like its the best thing ever written. i really love its atmosphere and the emotions it carries, and i have read it multiple times. whenever i think about how the people back then must have felt i get actual chills so.. i actually made a playlist consisting of songs that i associate with the atmosphere (not about lyrics) here are some of them:

zerkalo, drug, intro & yugoslavskiy groove by soft blade – honestly all of soft blades songs nail the atmosphere of kns.. i love them so much theyre so gloomy and remind me of winter. especially of winter when its snowy and dark outside ohhh mann

angel, teardrop, dissolved girl + more by massiveattack – i think these really suit the mood in a way. not talking about the lyrics, mostly the instrumentals

volny by molchat doma – this fits the atmosphere incredibly well

bait & switch, me & my gun by kmfdm – parts of these songs remind me of alek (and only him lol)

dzis ide walczyc mamo by jan rozmanowski – literally self explanatory, its about the warsaw uprising but the lyrics fit the polish resistance as a whole perfectly (i unironically listen to this bye i love it so much)

tamagotchi by taconafide (only the instrumental version) – reminds me of warsaw so much, its beautiful and i love it.

u. by niteboi (only the instrumental) – same reason as the one for tamagotchi

army dreamers by kate bush – how could i not include this. everyone knows this song and its perfect and self explanatory aswell

spit by show me the body – ok i only associate this song with kns because i listened to it on loop while reading the book.

to nie byl film by myslovitz – i dont know why this reminds me of kns so much to be honest. it just does okay

rant about the school system and the kamienie na szaniec community

if youre not polish, then fyi "kamienie na szaniec" is a set book everyone in middle school has to read. but ive heard that recently, most teacher dont pay alek much attention and focus only on zoska and rudy. back in my days.. we had entire lessons talking about alek (aswell as zoska and rudy of course) but now? i saw multiple people talking about how their teachers completely skimmed past his story. due to this, people forget about him completely and hes constantly referred to as "the third one" super disrespectful 💢

i have mixed feelings about the kns community in general, i think most of them are only interested in how the actors in the 2014 film look like and dont care about the real story. another problem in the "fandom" is the ai edits and images, which of course comes from the lack of good quality colorized photos of them. i didnt really care about them at first, but then i started noticing ai ship edits popping up on my tiktok for you page.. now this might seem crazy but i saw an image of zoska and alek kissing. the unbelievable 'ships' come from tiktok roleplay accounts. who in their right mind would roleplay as real dead people anyway? dont you think they deserve respect and dignity?

even though the main culprits apologized and deleted their posts, there are still TONS of roleplay accounts that i literally cannot stand! theyre all so heavily mischaracterized it pisses me off so bad but no one can do anything about them, really. theyve been at it for years, and i doubt they will change at this point. the community is like this because as i said, you read this book in middle school, and the audience is teenagers.

despite the weirdos, i am friends with many kns editors that i adore! 𓏲ּ𝄢 theyre all super kind, and there are normal people in the community afterall!

one last thing hmm i have to rant about how much i love him even though i have many rentries about that already ✿ /maciej /aleksy

so.. i found out about his existence in 2019, while we were covering the book at school. i wasnt interested in it at all, and i didnt even borrow it from the library which now that i think about it, is super funny. i cheated on the test and got a bad grade #haunting

i finally looked at the cover of the book and was like oh whos that handsome fella on the left? and then i looked him up on my phone on a fortunate winter day in the school bathroom.. and oh my god! i fell in love!

anyways. my.. obsession with him got worse? or better? (depends on who you ask..) exactly a year ago. i genuinely fell in love with him after finding out more about his personality and like ??? he is literally perfect hello. i cant even put into words how much he matters to me, he really helped me out with my depression and ive never loved anyone as much as i love him, i dont think that will EVER change. he is genuinely my everything and it really hurts my sensitive young moid heart that hes gone. i could talk about him for hours but as i said earlier, i already have multiple rentries about that.

at this point my classmates, family, and my therapist all know about how much i adore my handsome little boy. i was supposed to visit his grave this month but shit went sideways now im going to warsaw around the second of april.. which might actually be for the better. i cant wait and i think seeing his grave will literally be the death of me.

also! fun fact, me and alek have the same exact scar (the same spot and the same shape) on our lips. this really feeds my conviction that we truly are soulmates. oh how much i love him im crayon
