okay HI to start off, many people are conflicted with the ship because they think it’s morally wrong after the ambush scene and their dynamic often being boiled down to ‘toxic yuri’ or ‘enemies to lovers’ when it is so much more than that
they are two complex characters paired together !! it should be impossible to stick such a simple label onto them — anyway, about the ambush scene, the arguments made for arlecchino is that
- she was going for the gnosis
- she never had the intention to kill furina ( killing furina would be disruptive to fontaines hierarchy anyway 🤣🤣 ?? idk how people get this idea )
nor could furina be sure who arlecchino was at that point, considering arle was in disguise ++ arlecchino was NOT aware that furina was NOT the actual hydro archon ! if she was, the situation would’ve been handled much differently because she is a diplomat before a harbinger ( fandom fails to realize this and mischaracterizes her as someone unfeeling ) 😐😐 !
they both care so much about fontaine and always were on the same side, it just wasn’t communicated properly because arlecchino thought furina was doing nothing about the prophecy ( where people were doomed to drown due to being sinners )
as arlecchinos priority was her children from fontaine, she had to put pressure on furina 🙇♀️
