There will not be an official thread this year from me, the author of this. The automated system thinks I'm posting spam and I tried for about an hour. I was planning to try again later or tomorrow, but I don't think I will be able to either way. I am deeply sorry about this inconvenience, it really bums me out just as much as it does everyone else. Most of the fun was spreading the cheer as far as I could. I did not want it to stop dead in its tracks like this, but sadly the situation is beyond my control and will likely be the case for future years as well. But you can feel free to share this list and spread the christmas cheer.

Merry Christmas

Here is a link to last year's catalogs but be wary of dead links: (2020/2021 merged) (2022)

OPENING

This is a winter catalog consisting of links to video games, mods, romhacks, fan games, browser games, around the internet that are usually free of charge found and dumped here by me and any contributing anons from a yearly christmas thread. It is meant to be dropped every Christmas Eve or Day, but it may be used year-around.

This year is almost exclusively things that were not in previous years, mainly newer stuff released this year, I missed from prior years + a few previous anon contributions now integrated, and a focus on a very special Doom section to celebrate its 30th anniversary. So if you are a big fan of Doom WADs or want to dive into it, this is the perfect year for you.
Due to the above, starting work on this pretty late and dealing with personal things, there are fewer sections this time around and some might be smaller, but nonetheless I hope you find something you enjoy whether you're looking for a new romhack, looking for some mods, itching to play something with your friends, or are simply curious.
If you don't find something you know of, you might find it in previous years. If not, then go ahead and dump it in the yearly thread for anons to check out.

These are straight from the sources or a very reliable mirror, so no need to worry about malware or signing up for a website or joining a Discord. None of that, just find a game you might like from the list, give it a try and enjoy some vidya.

I stuck to trustworthy sites for most entries, and some downloads have been tested, but not a large number of them. The quality or safety for a number of entries will not be guaranteed. For any I am unsure about, I shall put a warning or a small bit of instructions.

Have a Merry Christmas

Sub-Section: Watermelon/Suika

A type of puzzle game where you get two of the same things to combine and goes up a tier. It took Japan by storm earlier this year and there's a bunch of clones being made. Mostly vtuber-themed ones but there's a few other ones as well.

Sonic

(There is also a Christmas SAGE going on this year, but I couldn't find a permanent link to it, but it's easily findable if you search "Christmas SAGE 2023')

Special spot because it's historical and Sonic 2 mysteries have always been fascinating. Earlier in December, The Video Game History Foundation released a restored VHS tape containing stuff from a Sonic 2 level artist, giving far more insight on how several scrapped zones were.

Some Cyber City/Genocide City stuff for Sonic 2 has also been uncovered throughout the year, you can see the ongoing efforts, speculation and piecing together here! last 5-10 pages should have the most progress.

Pokemon

Mega Man

Zelda

Ocarina of Time + Majora's Mask

Doom WAD 30th Anniversary Extravaganza

Happy 30th birthday Doom! This time this section is extra special and one of the main highlights and the grand finale of this year's catalog. With having combined all the previous years' Doom sections into one, adding dozens of old and new WADs ranging from historically significant to classics to brand new releases, as well as interviews, some page archives, etc. there will be enough Doom to last for the next decade.

If you are new to Doom WADs, need a refresher or looking for more after checking everything, check the first link below which will cover a significant amount of bases that the rest of this section does not. It also shows other WADs that aren't here and even covers multiplayer.

Essentials

WAD Collections

The old packs are not guaranteed to work on modern source ports and are here for history purposes

Individual WADs

MegaWADs and total conversions

Gameplay-changing WADs (without custom maps)

WADs based on existing games/IPs

Holiday and Winter themed stuff

Anniversary Celebration (interviews, page archives, mods celebrating/released on the anniversary, etc.)

Multiplayer stuff

Multiplayer bros you are not being left out on such an important year. Grab some friends, grab some mods together and have some fun! (If you don't have any you can always ask or make/look for a thread). Also worth noting a bunch of the WADs from other sections should be at least semi-playable in multiplayer

Thirty Random WADs

For even more Doom stuff, check out the bottomless stocking to see what random WAD you get, maybe even share if you find something really cool. To celebrate Doom hitting 30, here's a 30 WAD gamble across 3 sessions of hitting the random button with no quality control!

Session 2:

Session 3:

Games that have utilized Doom over the years

Bonus/Misc Doom stuff

Other really interesting things/Bonus Section

Christmas and Winter themed stuff

Audio Games

This is a peculiar medium I found earlier in the year, originally they were games intended for the blind, but have been evolving behind the scenes to go beyond just that. They're games, but their primary output are not graphics, instead it relies almost solely on audio. You will likely need headphones and a good imagination for this small collection here.

  • (Steam Deck) If you go to the discover store you can download a flash player and put whatever swf files you like and play flash games that way, there's also ways to get flashpoint working but guides are needed. Or alternatively you can try flashpoint for browser
