Style Switcher Installation Guide

This guide contains how to install the Style Switcher Mod for the Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition 2006 PC port.

Requirements:

• DMC3SE v1.3 Update.
  • This is necessary for the Style Switcher Mod to work.
  • To check the game version, Right-click "dmc3se.exe" and select Properties > Details > File/Product version. If it says "1.3.0.0", you can skip this step.
• DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) or the Web Installer.
• Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables All in One version.

Download and install everything. It is also required to restart your computer just to be sure.

Style Switcher v2.4.3 Installation:

• After downloading, installing all the requirements and updating the game version, download the Style Switcher v2.4.3 mod.
  If the Windows Defender detected it as a virus, it's a false positive due to the "install.bat" script that was implemented.
• Extract the contents of the archive into the DMC3SE game folder.
• Run "install.bat" and wait for the process to finish.
• Head to the XInput/Xbox Controller Fix guide below and follow the instructions.

NOTE:

• If you find Shoot/X/Square, Melee/Y/Triangle, and Taunt/Back/Select/Share buttons (also for keyboard) not working, sign out/restart your computer and launch the game.

Style Switcher v3.1.6 Installation:

• After downloading, installing all the requirements and updating the game version, download the Style Switcher v3.1.6 mod. (Also Style Switcher v3.0.0 if you wanna test it out.)
• Extract the contents of "bin" folder into the DMC3SE game folder.
• Run "install.bat".
• A prompt will appear that allows you to choose between "0. dinput8.dll" and "1. dsound.dll".
• Enter "1".
• After choosing, the necessary files will be moved to different folders while the irrelevant ones will be moved to the "_Restore" folder.
• From the "_Restore" folder, move "GPadCfg.exe" and "DMC3SE.ini" file outside so it will be in the main DMC3SE folder.
• Head to the XInput/Xbox Controller Fix or "Universal" Controller Fix guide below and follow the instructions.

XInput/Xbox Controller Fix:

• Download XInput Plus.
• Run XInput Plus as Admin and click Select beside Target Program and find DMC3SE.exe.
• Go to the DirectInput tab and tick the Enable DirectInput Output.
• Click the drop-down button beside LT/RT and select Button 11/12.
• Click the drop-down button beside GUIDE and select Button 13.
• Click Customize then do the following:
  Left Stick-X = Y_Axis
Left Stick-Y = X_Axis
  • NOTE: If this option makes the character movement (Left Analog) behave differently, revert it back to its default value.
  • OPTIONAL: Head to Setting tab > Others > disable the Enable Init Beep.
• Click on Apply button, confirm everything and close XInput Plus.
  New files will appear in the game folder (dinput.dll, dinput8.dll, XInput1_3.dll and XInputPlus.ini).
• Launch GPadCfg and assign the buttons.
• For XInput/Xbox controllers, click the Reverse Icon to fix the Analog Sticks.
  Otherwise, disable it if the Right Analog moves the character.
• Double-click the Save icon to Save the config.
  Open DMC3SE.ini via Notepad to check if the controller config was added.
• Run the game.

"Universal" Controller Fix:

Can be used with Vanilla or with Style Switcher Mod v3.0+ as long as the game version is 1.3.0
Works with different controllers as it uses SDL2
Using this method doesn't allow you to enter the cheat code unless using Keyboard

• When installing the Style Switcher Mod v3.0+, enter '0' when prompted.
• Download DMC3 Inputs Thing v1.02a.
• Extract the following inside the DMC3SE game folder and click Yes to overwrite.
  • dinput8.dll
  • SDL2.dll
  • DMC3_SRCNEXT_fw_config.txt
• Rename or delete "dmc3se.ini" file.
• Run the game

This mod replaces the generic/numeric gamepad buttons with PS2 or Xbox 360 buttons.
Supports English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish language.
