Mega Star Grid Universe

Hubble ultra deep field In a network of stars where space travel is but a shuttle away, solar systems become destinations where planets and space stations orbit their suns. All signs of life, each with its own culture and challenges. In Mega Star Grid West, some planets may rely on medieval technology and politics to thrive in planets with delicate ecosystems and humanity must to learn live among other species. Meanwhile, several space station colonies still rely on conventional engineering to get by, but face unknown dangers. Every form of civilization built in the western network of the Mega Star Grid was built upon the idea of independence and decentralization. Far away from the reaches of corporate and government influence.

Meta

  • Mega Star Grid Overview: Mega Star Grid is a vast network of mapped solar systems where advanced and rudimentary technologies collide, diverse societies adapt to life in space, and countless stories unfold across sectors defined by wealth, war, independence, and the mysteries of uncharted space.

Concepts

  • Sectors: Mega Star Grid employs a hierarchical coordinate system of sectors, subsectors, and quadrants, enabling precise navigation across its vast expanse of colonized and unexplored solar systems, where each region's codename reflects its unique characteristics or history, offering both simplicity and scalability for interstellar travelers.
  • Economy: The economy of Mega Star Grid is built around Credits, a stable currency backed by 1kg of the indestructible alloy Astrium, refined and controlled exclusively by the Astrium Reserve Authority (ARA), ensuring universal value and security while allowing limited physical withdrawals for those willing to bear the risk.

Anomalies

  • Xarnithis: Fragile yet fearsome eldritch creatures, driven by insatiable curiosity, who immobilize their subjects with a paralyzing chemical to conduct live dissections and absorb biological data, all while disregarding the suffering they cause.
  • Vhactith: A mysterious, anomalous entity located beyond the Mega Star Grid, known for defying scientific principles of gravity and propulsion, emitting a nanoparticle-infused fume called "Vhactith's Gift" that induces permanent physiological and neural changes in victims, transforming them into adrenaline-fueled, pain-immune beings until their bodies collapse, while those who escape its influence face catastrophic neural shutdown and lethal agony.

Places of Interest

  • Caedyn: A post-cataclysmic world, once a lush, biodiverse planet rich in geothermal energy, now scarred by the Great Fracture, an ecological disaster caused by human greed and misuse of that very energy.
  • Deathrûn: Once a chaotic world of fragile alliances, sociopolitical strife, and medieval ingenuity, fell to ruin when the Kurse, an alien virus that grotesquely transformed its hosts into monstrous Kursed, spread uncontrollably and obliterated its civilizations.
  • Sector Carmine: A breathtaking yet deadly region suffused with crimson Carminyte stardust from volatile mineral collisions, is rendered nearly impenetrable by intense gravitational fluxes, abrasive debris, and electromagnetic radiation, making it a costly and dangerous enigma best admired from afar.

Work In Progress:

  • Black Starlight: Mecenary Space Port that operates near the Red Zones of Sector McArthur in Mega Star Grid West.

Thanks to the various people helping me flesh out some of the concepts. Even the most seemingly insignificant suggestions have helped move this project forward.
