MANDATORY: Follow steps in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) Emulation (click me) section before proceeding further.

IMPORTANT:

  • BS Fire Emblem: Archanean War Chronicles was an episodic series distributed through Satellaview peripheral service for SNES.

  • The BGMs were also broadcasted through this service. Therefore, the chapters contain no BGMs, only sound effects.
  • Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem contains a faithful remake of these chapters with better graphics and BGMs.
    • The chapters are unlocked by completing chapter 8 or by importing backup memory/save with the Chronicles already unlocked.

      1. Follow the emulation guide for Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem (click me).

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance - HD Texture Pack

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance - HD Texture Pack is a HD texture pack that tries to remain as faithful as possible to the original.
Meant to be used with EUR version. Other versions might experience font cropping and other small issues, but should still be usable.

Fire Emblem Fates: Retranslation

Fire Emblem Fates: Retranslation seeks to rectify bugs, typos, mistranslations, corny dialogues, add additional scenarios adapted from other FE Fates resources (such as audio books, manga etc.), adds Lilith as a playable character, and much more.

https://gamebanana.com/wips/62238

Playable Lilith Mod

Playable Lilith Mod adds Lilith as a playable character with her own class, animations, supports, and small chapter edits because of her presence in the story.
By the words of the mod creator, this mod is redundant if you're using Fire Emblem Fates: Retranslation mod.
Consider this a different flavour/take on Lilith compared to Fire Emblem Fates: Retranslation mod that also adds Lilith.

Nintendo Wii U FE Games

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (2015) TMSFE_Tiki

MANDATORY: Follow steps in the Nintendo Wii U Emulation (click me) section before proceeding further.

IMPORTANT:

  1. Do not consider this an FE title. This is a spin-off with some FE lore and characters. Only play this if:
    • you're a fan of Persona or Shin Megami Tensei games,
    • you're starving for more FE and its characters like Tiki,
    • you like anime.
  2. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is the Switch version of the same game with some changes and a bit of extra content.
  3. The Wii U version is currently the superior version, because the Switch version:
    1. is based on the international, censored release,
    2. can't be played at higher resolutions.
    • If neither of these two reasons seem important to you, then choose the Switch version.
  4. The Wii U version:
    • can be uncensored,
    • can be played at higher resolutions,
    • has no Quick Session option to speed up Session attacks,
    • Barry Goodman, Tiki, and Maiko Shimazaki can't join in during battles to perform Session attacks,
    • is missing a new dungeon, Area of Aspiration,
    • is missing a new song,
    • is missing several new costumes.

Game setup
  1. Apply the Restoration patch:
    1. (Optional) Extract the patch if you've downloaded it as an archive.
    2. Start the tms_patcher - 1.8.exe.
    3. Click on the PATCH button on the bottom left.
    4. Navigate and select the base game's folder as asked by the patcher.
      • WARNING: You need at least 12GB of free space on your disk!
    5. Wait until the patching process finishes. It can take a few minutes.
    6. (Optional) Verify the validity of the applied patch:
      1. Click on the sheet of paper with a green checkmark above the PATCH button.
      2. Navigate and select the base game's folder where you've applied the patch.
      3. Wait until you see Pass in all boxes.
      4. Press Ok.
    7. Close the patcher by clicking on the X in the upper right corner of the patcher.
  2. (Optional - no longer needed) Install the game, update and DLC:
    1. As of the current latest version, the installation is not needed. The emulator will pick the game files up automatically.
    2. At the top left, go to File -> Install game title, update, or DLC.
    3. Navigate to the folder of the entity you wish to install. (in older releases, you had to select the meta/meta.xml file)
    4. Install each extracted folder you downloaded earlier.
  3. Configure the Graphic pack:
    1. At the top left, go to Options -> Graphic packs.
    2. You should see Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE in the list. You can see all graphic packs by unchecking Installed games.
    3. Expand the game's entry in the list.
    4. Expand the Mods section.
    5. Check the Cutscene Blur option and set the Blur Amount value to 0%.
    6. Check the Graphics option.
      • Note: Scaling the game to different resolutions might slightly glitch some GUI elements.
        • The glitches seem to only occur in the main menu and under very specific circumstances and it never affects the gameplay.
        • I recommend using it for a better experience.
    7. Set the Resolution option to your screen's native resolution.
    8. (Optional - ultrawide/non-16:9 monitors) Set the Ultrawide GUI Scaling option to Stretch.
    9. (Optional) You can play around with other Graphic pack options, but I found them all unneeded:
      • 60FPS - It was buggy in some conversation and the game seems to run at 30-60 FPS even without it.
      • Contrasty - I didn't test it as it didn't seem important to me.
      • LOD Bias - It supposedly can introduce graphical bugs and has an impact on performance.
  4. (Optional - do it only if you want to be sure) Verify the game is updated and patched:
    1. (Optional) Disable the Graphics option in the Graphic packs.
    2. Start the game.
    3. You should see [US v16] in the title of the emulator window.
      • If yes, then the update was applied.
    4. In the main menu, move the active select onto the ESHOP choice.
    5. You should see (Reincarnation ver. 1.2) at the end of the HELP text on the bottom of the screen.
      • If yes, then the restoration patch was applied.
    6. (Optional) If you've disabled the Graphics option:
      1. Close Cemu.
      2. Start Cemu again and enable the Graphics option in the Graphic packs.
  5. Start the game.
  6. Pro-tips:
    • If you're using my keyboard settings:
      • Holding F or Tab will bring up the character's phone screen.
      • Holding X will fast-forward through dialogues.
      • Pressing X will enable/disable the auto-battle option in battles.
    • After the first cutscenes, the MC will have to check his phone screen.
      • Hold F or Tab and use your mouse to navigate the phone's GUI.

Fire Emblem Heroes (2017) FEH_Feh

IMPORTANT:

  1. This game is a spinoff, a mobile gacha title.
  2. This kind of games are usually very grindy and incentivise spending real money, either for:
    • titilating or lewd cosmetic items,
    • faster progression.
  3. There is a lot of debate on the canonicity of the game. To make it simple, consider Heroes to be canon within the Heroes universe.
  4. Feel free to skip this game, if you're not into mobile gaming or dislike the monetization practices of gacha titles.

Game Files Modding

Dumping RomFS

Important points:

  • To access and modify game files, you need to dump them first.
  • The modded game files are subsequently loaded during the game's boot through the LayeredFS.
  • All fixed_*.bin files which hold data for classes, characters, items and so on, are located on path:

    Yuzu: ~\AppData\Roaming\yuzu\sdmc\atmosphere\contents\010055D009F78000\romfs\patch4\nx\data
    Ryujinx: ~\AppData\Roaming\Ryujinx\sdcard\atmosphere\contents\010055d009f78000\romfs\patch4\nx\data

  • Note: The game ID (010055D009F78000) might differ depending on the game's version (e.g. EUR vs USA).
  • Dumping RomFS will dump ALL game data files, most of which you don't need:
    • For example, if you only wish to modify fixed_data.bin, you can delete all other dumped files and directories.
    • Keep the directory structures/paths for the files you kept as is!
    • Deleting unmodified dumped files saves storage space and decrease load times.

Guide:

  1. Dump RomFS:
    • Yuzu:
      1. Right click the game and choose Dump RomFS -> Dump RomFS to SDMC.
      2. Leave RomFS Dump Target set to Base.
        • Other choices would dump data from specific DLCs.
      3. Leave RomFS Dump Mode set to Full.
        • Choosing the Skeleton option only creates the directory structure of the dumped files.
      4. Wait until the process finishes and the folder with the dumped game files should open on its own.
      5. Ensure SDMC - Layered FS is enabled:
        1. Right click the game and choose Properties
        2. Ensure SDMC - LayeredFS is enabled.
          • The checkbox controls whenever the dumped game files are loaded during the game boot or not.
    • Ryujinx:
      1. Right click the game and choose Extract Data -> RomFS.
      2. Choose any destination where you desire to extract the game files.
      3. Wait until the process finishes.
      4. Go to the folder you chose for the extraction.

Progenitor

Progenitor is an unfinished all-in-one data editor. The latest version allows editing of fixed_data.bin and fixed_persondata.bin files.

GitHub

fixed_data.bin Editor - modify stats of weapons, spells, items etc.

Allows modification of weapons, spells, turrets, gambits, monster AOEs, equipment, items and combat arts.

  1. Download Progenitor and start it.
  2. Choose fixed_data Editor.
  3. Navigate to fixed_data.bin file found in ~\romfs\patch4\nx\data.
  4. Modify stats and parameters of any objects to your liking.
  5. File -> Save File.../Save File As....
fixed_persondata.bin Editor - modify character growth rates, crests, spells etc.

Allows modification of ALL characters, e.g. their growth rates, crests, starting weapon ranks and proficiencies, spells, skills, weapons etc.
IMPORT: Chest Size scale and Model Size scale do not seem to affect anything. The chest size and character height is dictated by their models.

  1. Download Progenitor and start it.
  2. Choose fixed_persondata Editor.
  3. Navigate to fixed_persondata.bin file found in ~\romfs\patch4\nx\data.
  4. Modify characters to your desired state.
  5. File -> Save File.../Save File As....
Swap characters (e.g. Make Byleth into the Empress and play as Edelgard)

Ever wanted to play as Edelgard, or make Lysithea into Rhea? Well, now you can.

  1. Download Progenitor and start it.
  2. Choose fixed_persondata Editor.
  3. Navigate to fixed_persondata.bin file found in ~\romfs\patch4\nx\data.
  4. In the Characters tab, find characters you wish to swap. (e.g. female Byleth is 0001 or 1 and Edelgard is 0002 or 2)
Most of important characters are within first 100 IDs.
Some characters might have several different IDs. Modifying only the one with the lowest ID should be enough.
  5. Choose either of them and switch to Other sub-tab.
  6. Change Asset ID value to that of the other character. (0001 : Byleth change to 2; 0002 : Edelgard changed to 1)
  7. Optionally, also swap Voice ID, Out of Combat Animation Set and Body Type values for better results.
  8. File -> Save File.../Save File As....
Swap character models and change their pre/post-timeskip looks

Ever wanted to use Byleth's clothes or someone else? Or have characters use their pre/post-timeskip hairstyles? Well, now you can.

  1. Download Progenitor and start it.
  2. Choose fixed_persondata Editor.
  3. Navigate to fixed_persondata.bin file found in ~\romfs\patch4\nx\data.
  4. In the Characters tab, find characters you wish to modify. (e.g. Edelgard is 0002 or 2)
Most of important characters are within first 100 IDs.
Some characters might have several different IDs. Modifying only the one with the lowest ID should be enough.
  5. Switch to the Asset ID tab and choose the record with the same ID as your desired character. (e.g. Asset ID #2 for Edelgard).
  6. Explanation of Asset ID tab sections:

Part 1 Assets are PRE-timeskip parameters.
Part 2 Assets are POST-timeskip parameters.
    Other parameters are self-explanatory.

  7. Explanation of Asset ID tab parameters:

Head Model sets which head model, including its hairstyle, is used for the character.
Body Model sets which body model, including its attire, is used for the character.
Face ID should set which face is used, but from my testing, the face is decided by the head model. Just use the same value as the source has.

  8. Examples of possible changes:
    • Use pre/post-timeskip hairstyle after the timeskip - copy Part 1 Assets's Head Model and Face ID values into Part 2 Assets parameters, and vice versa.
    • Use NG+ hairstyle pre/post-timeskip - copy a value of New Game+ Hair Model into Head Model parameter of either Part X Assets sections.
    • Have Edelgard wear Byleth's clothes - copy the value of Body Model from Byleth's Asset ID record (e.g. Asset ID #1) and paste it into Edelgard's Body Model parameters (e.g. Asset ID #2).
  9. File -> Save File.../Save File As....

Note: Both Byleths' Asset ID records are special because they do not use Part 1 Assets values.
That's indicated by Head Asset and Body Asset parameters having values of -1. Use Part 2 Asset values if you wish to use their models.

  • modify skill levels (Sword, Faith etc.)
  • modify values (money etc.)
  • change an item A to an item B in a character's inventory
  • and more

Guide:

Note: If your AV blocks the download, turn it temporarily off; it's a false-positive.
    https://cheatengine.org/downloads.php
    OR
    https://github.com/cheat-engine/cheat-engine

  2. Open the table in Cheat Engine.
  3. Open the emulator process in the list of Applications in the Process List window. (The blinking icon underneath the File menu on top)

    • position of the unit in your roster correlates with the list,
    • the first character is (nearly) always Byleth.
  4. Double-clicking the value opens a window in which you can choose the character's movement status.
    • to allow the character to take infinite actions, freeze the value by checking the Active box,
    • you can pass the turn by selecting the End turn button.
  5. Notes:
    • after the fight ends, if you kept someone's movement status frozen, it'll be remains so, until you uncheck the Active box,
    • you can also change an NPC's movement status this way.
