Woodcutter: Shiromaru Mito
Priestess: Akiru Kamira

Act 1 -
A woodcutter lived in a certain mountain. He was a very serious man, and as long as the weather was good, he would get up early every morning, work until dusk, then go to bed early after returning home.

It was the morning of a day when it had rained the day before. The Woodcutter found an injured white snake crouching at the base of a tree he was about to cut down. The man gently picked up the snake and applied the wound medicine he always carried with him. He then placed the snake and his own rice balls for lunch a short distance away, and returned to his work.

At dusk, when the man finished his work and looked at the place where he had placed the snake, both the snake and the rice balls were gone.
Relieved that the snake was healthy, the man returned home.

knock knock knock

The next day, before the man could wake up, someone was knocking on the door.

He opened the door with sleepy eyes and saw a girl standing there in a pure white wedding kimono and a wedding headdress.

The girl looked at the surprised man with a broad smile and said, "Please marry me!"

Act 2 -
The man was shocked, but decided to invite the girl into his house to hear her out. However, although she looked suspicious, the man could not sense any ill will from the girl.

"I love you. Will you marry me?"

The girl smiled with an innocent face. When she removed her wedding headdress, beautiful silver hair appeared.

"But, we only just met today..."

"I saw you working as a lumberjack in the mountains! Please marry me."

No matter what he said, the girl just kept repeating that she wanted to marry him.

But he had to go to work. The man had no choice but to leave the girl behind and head to the mountains.

When he returned home at dusk, the pleasant scent of the evening was drifting outside. When he went inside, rice balls and miso soup were prepared for him.

"Welcome back! Dinner is ready."

The man was confused, but grateful for the food.

"It's delicious, thank you."

"That's great! Will you marry me?"

"N-no, that's...anyway, what do you like about me? And where are you from?"

"Well, that's...well..."

The girl refused to give any details.

The man said that he couldn't 't marry someone he didn't know, and didn't know how she fell in love with him, and the girl immediately burst into tears.

"I'll do my best to make you my wife! I don't have a place to go back to, so please let me stay here!"

The man is at a loss as the girl desperately begs him.

"...For now, it's probably inconvenient to wear that outfit. I'll get you a kimono tomorrow from the village at the foot of the mountain."

Act 3 -
After that, the man and the girl continued their strange life together peacefully. The girl worked hard, laughed a lot, and was very devoted to the man.
It was as if the man's monotonous life had been brightened up by the addition of flowers to it.

The women of the village who had become friends with the girl began to urge him to marry her, and the man's feelings towards the girl began to warm.

One day, a traveling priestess came to the man's house.

The priestess turned to the man and the girl who had greeted her and said, "You don't seem human. Who are you?"

The man was confused by what he was saying, but the girl's expression changed.

The priestess’ eyes were fixed on the girl.

The man looked at the girl in confusion.

"I am...a white snake. You saved me on the mountain that day..."

The girl muttered softly, as if she had given up.

The man was astonished. The priestess didn't move an inch.

"You've come to exorcise me, haven't you?"

The girl closed her eyes as if resigned.

Then the man stood in front of the girl.

"Stop it! I, I...I don’t care if she’s a snake, or even a frog!"

The man appealed to the female priest.

"I'm going to make her my wife! Don't exorcise her!"

Despite the severe situation, the girl's face turned red at the man's words.

The female priest sighed in exasperation.

"Don't panic, I'm not here to exorcise her. I'll stabilize the unstable energy of the white snake with my mind."

As the priestess began to chant, the girl's body was filled with power, and she was able to obtain a perfect human body.

Act 4 -
Time passed. It was a pleasant day, but no different to any other day.

"I'm off to work."

"Here's your lunch. Be careful."

The girl handed the man his lunch at the door and saw him off.

She waved with a smile until the man was out of sight.

Then, the sound of a baby crying echoed from inside the house.

"Oh dear, you're hungry too, aren't you?"

The girl looked back inside the house and gently closed the door.
