Noctyx Overview

WIP | LAST UPDATE 7/21/2022: briskadet doggos

An alliance with nigh unbreakable bonds, enforced by the belief that their gods are a family. These highly specialized kingdoms rely on one another to make up for each other’s shortcomings. Citizens intermingle often and travel freely between their borders.

Stargazers

  • All male. Extremely pretty, extremely gay. Strangely attractive to otherwise heterosexual men.
  • Legend claims they are descended from sirens
  • Scarily cheerful and nice, but small in number and reclusive. Difficult to offend.
  • Capable of divining the future by reading the stars.
  • Artisans who specialize in making jewelry and pretty lights.
  • Meteor showers are common in the area, sometimes leaving behind weak chuubanite. They use it to make prettier lights.
  • Rumor has it beings from the heavenly realm sometimes disguise themselves as one to deliver prophecies directly to the people of /nijien/.
  • Strong drinking and fashion culture.
  • Conflict averse and lacking in its own army, but have some diplomatic immunity from the civil war shenanigans due to their status as oracles.
  • Due to a combination of their oracle status and the belief gods sometimes walk amongst them, killing a Stargazer is considered the most heinous of war crimes.
  • Have a mysterious ability to lure complete strangers to their defense when distressed
  • Main exports are clothing, jewelry and pretty lights.

Comfydants

Detailed Doc (Extremely WIP)

  • Not a kingdom, but a republic
  • Eco-terrorists from a dystopian future
  • Humanoids with sheep horns/ears. Freaky horizontal pupils. Bodies are often heavily modified with cybernetic limbs, artificial eyes, etc. Metal chokers are actually air filtration devices, which were necessary in the future to breathe in the otherwise toxic air.
  • Aiming to quietly sabotage technological advancement to prevent the catastrophic levels of climate change seen in their future.
  • They have lots of cool sci-fi stuff that got brought over with them, but it’s all on power-saving mode due to this time period lacking the means to properly power anything and them having no desire to rebuild the technology to do so. Effectively means their stuff is no better than current tech the majority of the time. Using anything at full power would quickly drain their energy reserves and render everything useless.
  • Chuubanite is necessary to power their cybernetic body parts so they don’t fucking die.
  • Kind on the surface, but deep down inside they’re all half a step away from being /meat/heads.
  • Extremely weak to sob stories about life-ruining medical conditions.
  • No formal military, but coming from the violent Bad Future, all Comfydants are capable of at least basic self defense. Some furthermore have martial arts training and augments specialized for combat.
  • Comfydants have lots of myths about their god's family as well as the people who worshipped them, but in the future-past these sister-tribes have all gone extinct. Coming to this time period and finding them all alive is like suddenly discovering unicorns are real. As a result, Comfydants are be overprotective of and overeager to offer assistance to the rest of Noctyx, often accepting unfavorable trades.
  • Medical procedures, with a focus on the creation and attachment of prosthetics, are the driving force behind their economy. The more combat capable among them are also known to sell their services as bodyguards.
  • Weirdly quick to suggest amputation as the solution to all your medical woes.
  • On cannibalism and "human" resources

Takaradachi

  • Mercantile port city
  • Trade center for Luxiem and Noctyx
  • Pleasure is a trade like any other. There’s a red light district, if you know where to look
  • Their main exports are gems and other valuables which have been…liberated, from the less deserving
  • Good on their word in business dealings, despite the shady methods of acquisition
  • City is mostly safe as long as you stay out of the backstreets
  • Takaradachi are extremely emotional and easily moved to tears
  • They get really excited about small, cute children to dote on and will attempt to adopt them as younger siblings.
  • Cats are considered sacred, harming one within their borders is punishable by death.
  • No standing army, they rely on Briskadet soldiers to patrol their borders and hire mercenaries to shore up defenses in times of war

Briskadets

  • Militaristic police state.
  • Provide the main fighting force for the entirety of Noctyx.
  • Their soldiers are impossible to demoralize because they’re maniacs who are just as excited to be violently murdered as they are to violently murder their enemies.
  • Strong cultural tradition of training dogs for everything from warfare and hunting to simple mail delivery. Different breeds are employed for different tasks.
  • Dogs outnumber actual soldiers, and in addition to actual combat are also used to pull carts, run messages and deliver medical supplies.
  • Working dogs have uniforms including tiny VSF vests and cute little hats. Please do not pet a dog while it is working, no matter how cute it is.
  • Dogs are trained to exacting standards and are capable of performing their jobs without supervision.
  • Constantly, futilely attempting to convince the Comfydants to make them futuristic firearms.
  • Cultural emphasis on traditional family values, but they all suck at adhering to them as they’re generally incompetent outside of combat. Ones that are capable of boiling water without setting the house on fire are a rarity.
  • Brothels are considered sacred institutions because their god is a whore (affectionate).
  • Constantly declare how much they hate him while also heaping piles of treasure upon his altars.
  • They claim their god walks among them, and will accost random people who they suspect to be him with sexual offers.
  • For whatever reason, Briskadets are oddly susceptible to the sudden onset of madness. A Briskadet who begins exhibiting particularly erratic behavior, such as frequently speaking with empty air, will eventually be banished to the Badlands if symptoms continue to worsen.

Yuguys

  • Their territory is very small, more of a city-state than a proper kingdom.
  • If there’s an actual government here of any kind, they sure aren’t aware of it.
  • Fun-loving, somewhat fllighty bards who desire little other than their god’s happiness.
  • Busk for money
  • Yuguys spend more time spread out among the other kingdoms of Noctyx than they do at home, returning only when their god has messages for them.
  • Under constant attack from foreign schizos, but the Yuguys are not around often enough to be bothered by it. The attacks are typically repelled by the neighboring Briskadets and Comfydants before any permanent damage takes place.
  • Once home to many bustling taverns, but after a certain incident in the heavenly realm alcohol is now outlawed within their borders. The taverns are still there, they just serve juice.
  • As a result of the above, Yugonia is now home to many, many stores of alcohol that they can never use themselves. Some of these bottles may be centuries old, and make for valuable exports.
  • Good hospitality services, if anyone happens to be home to run the inns.
