Be an orphan
live at the orphanage since the day you were only a little baby
grow up seeing all your friends and the people around you getting adopted
years pass
the owner of the orphanage says you are beginning to get to that age where you are too old to be appealing to potential new adoptive parents
she says that if you don't get adopted in the next 4 months when you turn 12 she will send you away to a foster home
beg her with tears in your eyes not to do this as you have heard stories and seen pictures of the quality of life
devise a plan to get yourself adopted
remember the nice lady you see pass by the orphanage a few times a week
months pass and it is your last day before your shipped away
go outside as she is passing by and purposefully trip over nothing scraping both of your knees
"oh my god are you okay? Where are your parents"
give her a sad head shake
"okay come with me and we'll get you cleaned up"
she takes you to a park bench where she cleans and bandages your wounds
to cheer you up she buys you icecream from the icecream truck and the two of you sit there eating
you thank her for helping you and she asks if you really have nobody to look after you
you tell her no
"THERE YOU ARE"
the owner of the orphanage grabs your arm and says the family is here to take you away
you cry and say that you don't want to go and that you already found someone to adopt you while pointing at the lady
both the lady and the owner look puzzled
"well...is this true?"
