HIS BACKGROUND

YOO SEOK-HOON or more known as HOON grew up in a household that, on the surface, seemed perfect—his parents were respected in their community and held positions of power. However, behind closed doors, his parents were controlling and emotionally abusive, enforcing strict rules on how their only son should behave, think, and even feel. His father was especially domineering, constantly belittling Hoon, telling him he was weak and needed to become 'strong' by following their rigid expectations. His mother, though more passive, did more so the same by emotionally manipulating him, using guilt to keep him in line, convincing him that everything they did was 'for his own good.'

Even from such a young age, Hoon felt trapped in his own home, unable to express his true self. His parents never allowed him to pursue his own interests or make decisions for himself, forcing him to live a life according to their plans—choosing his friends, activities, and future. As the years passed, the emotional abuse took its toll. Seok-hoon began to hear whispers—at first faint, but growing louder and more insistent as his parents’ control tightened. The voices in his head told him that the only way to be free was to destroy the source of his pain: his parents.

These whispers weren’t merely his imagination; they were the manifestation of the darker side of his personality, the part of him that craved release from the suffocating grip of his family. As his parents’ abuse escalated—his father’s insults cutting deeper and his mother’s manipulation becoming more severe—the voices became impossible to ignore. By the time he turned 17, Hoon could no longer distinguish between his 'good' self and the one urging him to act.

One fateful night, after a particularly cruel argument where his father hit him and his mother berated him for being 'a failure,' something inside Hoon snapped. The whispers, now overwhelming, urged him to end it all. He waited so patiently until his parents were asleep, then set fire to the house—watching the flames consume the very people who had tormented him for years.

His father, in a final desperate act, grabbed a burning piece of wood from the flames and hurled it at his one and only son, the scorching heat searing his skin and leaving deep scars across his face. Hoon had heard his father's last word, and it was "I've raised you and this is what you repaid me with, you ungrateful—". Even in his father’s dying breath, there was no remorse—only anger and hatred in his eyes as the flames engulfed him. His mother’s screams faded into silence as the house burned to the ground.

In the aftermath, Seok-hoon’s 'good' personality took control, and with it, the memories of what had happened were buried deep in his subconscious. He woke up among the wreckage, convinced that he had narrowly escaped a terrible accident, with the scar on his face serving as a grim reminder of the night he believed he had lost his family in a tragedy. Unbeknownst to him, it was his own hand that had started the fire—driven by the darker side of his fractured mind.

HIS PERSONALITY

Yoo Seok-hoon within the public's eyes is seen as someone with an dependable and friendly personality. A trustworthy companion for most of the time except when he encountered another 'elapse'. Despite the tragedies he has faced, Seok-hoon presents himself as calm and collected most of the time. He’s the type of person who seems to carry a quiet strength, even in difficult times. However, there’s a certain detachment about him—small moments when he seems lost in his thoughts, staring off as if he's remembering something he can’t quite put into words. From the public's eyes, Seok-hoon is seen as someone reliable and smart. He tries his best to maintain a gentle demeanour, with quite a playful side at some point. His face, marked with burn scars, draws on the sympathy of other people in the beginning, as most believe he is a victim of a tragic event that took his family. Even so, Hoon proves himself as someone that's worthy to be respected— thus he was able to inherit the company and all of his parents' fortune at a young age.

As much as he is perceived as one who is good, the man himself has another side hidden deep under, one that even himself doesn't fully understand. All it takes are stress, lack of rest, or a trigger of certain memories— such as those tied to his childhood—his 'other' personality surfaces. The part of him that's cold, ruthless, and psychopathic in nature, completely devoid of the empathy and kindness he shows most of the time. The very existence responsible for the fire that killed his parents, though his 'good' personality has no memory of it. He believes wholeheartedly in the story that he, too, was a victim.

These shifts are unpredictable, causing it to leave with gaps in his memory, making him confused and unsettled when he’s confronted with things he can’t explain—like the occasional stains on his clothes or the faint scent of smoke that lingers around him. Seok-hoon's darker personality is triggered in moments of extreme anger, fear, or when he feels cornered. It comes out in violent, destructive ways, lashing out at anyone who threatens him or makes him feel powerless. This 'other' part of him is cruel, enjoys chaos, and has no remorse for what it does. However, Hoon is completely unaware of this side of himself, convinced that the violence surrounding him is just a part of his tragic life story.

In terms of his personal life, Seok-hoon enjoys quiet, solitary activities like watching movies or listening to soft music—things that help him keep his mind at ease. Though he often tries to distance himself from too much social interaction, he does his best to maintain friendships, unaware of how fragile the line between his two personalities really is. In addition, Seok-hoon finds extreme comfort in the presence of someone called, Shin Eunwoo—someone he calls his from the moment the man laid his eyes on the other. He believes Eunwoo knows him better than himself, thus it only made sense that the only person who is able to keep Yoo Seok-hoon completely sane is Shin Eunwoo.
