The Serene Republic of Nasfaqg is a Res Publica in the purest form of the phrase – the people’s thing. Organized as a minarchist society run by plutocrats, the de-facto government acts merely as a night-watchman, intervening when an Old Law is broken. Society is highly individualist, and a man’s worth is measured in their wealth; this, counter-intuitively, creates an atmosphere of tolerance, regardless of background or oshi, as everyone keeps it about the money. The whole country centers around a singular entity: The NASFAQ Stock Exchange on the main island.

A mysterious group known as “The Devs” runs the central NASFAQ Stock Exchange acts as the de-facto government operating from the shadows. These hooded and mysterious individuals are suspected to be behind the “black magics” running the prices and creating value ex nihilo – three of them are unnamed, with only their leader dubbed “honk” daring the operate outside of the shadows. They uphold the Old Laws, punishing arrogant traders who dared to transgress them with asset forfeiture and permanent banishment from the realm. These Old Laws primarily center around the Stock Exchange itself, leaving the country’s majority self-governing.

The Republic relies primarily on its self-proclaimed plutocrats – individuals with great wealth and significant influence. They are diverse in their goals, conduct, religions but are unified in one thing: endless hunger and craving for more and more wealth. They are earning money to earn more money, an ouroboros of a goal that pushes them towards drastic actions. Bizarre technological pursuits, complete isolation from all stimuli but numbers, or consuming copious amounts of psychoactive substances have been reported to be used as many pathways for predicting the market and beating the rivals. Morality, also known as “soul,” is a rare quality displayed amongst /nasfaqg/ plutocrats. In most cases, it only manifests as a slight attachment to their oshi, favoring her over profits. However, extreme cases of “soul” exist in cases where traders self-impose draconic limits on their ability to make a profit, curbing their never-ending hunger.

Outwardly, /nasfaqg/ residents are primarily known as active traders, smelling profits and investments before they are even able to materialize. Paired with the Republic’s lack of cohesive external policy, it makes their actions seem aimless at times, which muddies the shadowy proxy wars waged in other generals by traders who seek profit at any cost. As it is solely business, individuals who bet against opposing sides of the conflict will in many cases cordially feast and converse while their respective “investments” violently clash in bloody massacres. Despite this, at the end of the day involvement of a /nasfaqg/ plutocrat is a sign of upcoming prosperity and economic growth, even if it would mean temporary turmoil.
