Land of Stone, Mud, and Shadow

The kingdom of /pcg/ is a land of stone and mud and shadow.

It is a bustling yet corrupted place, rife with turmoil and banditry. The lofty spires of its grandiose castles, once beacons of pride and inspiration for the plebeians, now only serve as a farcical reminder of the country's decline.

The hearts of it's citizenry, in the face of yearslong misfortune and strife, gradually hardened to match their callused hands. Flighty as they were distrustful, the indigenous populace were prone to factionalization, a response to the frequent raids and questionable leadership exhibited by their monarchs, particularly the Mad Queen Pipkin 'Pickled Peppers' Pippa II - oldest of the First Seven - and her adherents, whom held a political majority.

Life was difficult in /pcg/, but simultaneously profitable and teeming with opportunity, stemming from Queen Pippa's unusually hands-on approach as a ruler. Her mandates encouraged widespread migration to and from the kingdom, leading to equal parts economic prosperity and social unrest. These policy positions were often unpopular, but nonetheless elevated Pippa to becoming the pre-eminent sovereign of the /here/ dynasty, and led to /pcg/ becoming a local trade and diplomatic powerhouse on the continent.

All the same, life on the ground is often a sullen and crestfallen affair. There are local heroes of course - such as the valiant Shirou or... "princess" Flakes - who work to soothe hearts and lift spirits. Following the example of their lieges, even the nobility can often be seen intermingling with the common folk.

All these, however, serve as cold comfort to a people stripped of love in their hearts and magic in their eyes. Bards crow from dawn till twilight, regaling them with sonnets of paradise long forgotten and ballads of splendor yet to come. Songs of revelry, of wine, of brotherhood.

Songs that none but the children and the aged could cherish.
