Xún Ming

Story

Ming is the monozygotic elder twin of Chizi, their nature rejecting staying in a state of primordial unity with their sibling to instead follow the natural course of creation— division and definement. Even now, they harbor a distaste for their sibling. Not one born of an perceived offense, but an instinctual opposition that they cannot resist.

Their childhood was colored by their dual identity as both the child of a powerful clan and the tribe of savages they conquered, and the desire to win approval in both worlds. The their peers in the clan, an erudite and gentle young master. To the their tribe born kin, a fierce and domineering warrior. This dichotomy was even more pronounced, yet somewhat inverted, when it came to attempts at attracting their parents' attention. This behavior easily came off as disturbing to those who witnessed Ming flipping between personalities, thinking them deceitful or otherwise possessing a touch of madness. It was this duality that became cemented in their foundation.

Regardless of which Ming one finds themself interacting with, they incredibly expressive— perhaps overly so. There are no half measures to be found in what they feel and how they carry themselves. Their fury is unwavering, love unconditional, and grief inconsolable. More than simple madness or an act, these are absolute and isolated expressions that are free of their counterbalances, compounded that which compliments.

When their spiritual energy condensed, Ming's yin-yang core split as if cleft by a sword to form the Heaven and Earth within. Such duality is the foundation of all things, but this is taken to an extreme within Ming, causing strict separation of energies. As a result, disruptions may be diminished in effect as the harm is directed to only a single half. Cultivation can be achieved in any environment by way of reducing the ambient Qi into parts acceptable to their constitution.

[Heibai]: A mysterious ore was discovered- one side white and the other side black. When taken to be forged, the ore split itself into two halves and thus each was made into a sword. Although separate, they are meant to be used in unison. While the black is held close and guards, the white charges forward to attack. They innately seek to fulfill these even to the users detriment, making use of both at once necessary lest one find themselves too passive or too forceful. Yet, both seek separation, and that which has been cut by them will prove reluctant to rejoin. At the same time, the pieces become separate entities. This seems like a readily evident observation, but what it truly means is that even should something normally be harmed by separation, it might now continue as its own distinct existence.
