tyler rant is here

@goth on atabook, send me messages if you want.
hi please dont ask about this url anymore, im not interested in trading it or selling it as i dont want it going away to an actual wyler lover. i will gatekeep this url until i die.

i hate wyler, this was hateclaimed. this rentry will be my list of reasons why wyler doesn't work. jenna ortega, who plays wednesday addams, has openly said she dislikes wyler and doesn’t want wednesday with tyler at all. she’s also admitted to supporting wenclair just like pretty much the entire wednesday cast. id also like to point out that jenna does have influence over the script and even helped shape the love triangles (xavier and tyler, and now bruno and ajax), so she’s not “just the actress”—she has a say in it. we’ve got three seasons of wednesday, so honestly, we just have to wait and see where the story goes and whether wenclair becomes canon. im a wenclair supporter, but i wouldn’t mind at all if wednesday were confirmed as aroace and single, it actually feels like a fitting direction for her character.

  • manipulation & deception: tyler pretended to care about wednesday, only to gain her trust so she wouldn’t suspect him as the hyde. he knowingly played into her feelings while hiding his violent role.
  • emotional betrayal: wednesday opened up to him and he used that vulnerability against her. his relationship with her was never genuine as it was a calculated move to keep her distracted.
  • violence & murder: tyler, as the hyde, attacked and killed multiple people at nevermore and in jericho. these weren’t random, some were close to wednesday’s investigation, meaning he was actively destroying her progress.
  • connections: he was working with laurel gates (a.k.a. marilyn thornhill), who wanted to kill wednesday and all the outcasts. that alliance means he was essentially complicit in a plan to wipe out wednesday and her friends.
  • a threat to enid: enid, as wednesday’s roommate and closest friend, was indirectly put in danger by tyler’s actions. any attack on nevermore endangered her life. if enid had been in the wrong place at the wrong time, she could’ve been one of his victims.
  • gaslighting: tyler mocked wednesday when she confronted him after realizing he was the hyde, making her doubt herself for a moment. his smirk and comments in the police station scene show he enjoyed hurting her emotionally.
  • toxic dynamic: tyler’s “relationship” with wednesday was based on lies, danger, and hidden agendas. there was no trust or mutual respect. any romance built on manipulation is inherently unhealthy.

i know tyler may have had some feelings for wednesday at first, but those faded quickly, and most of his actions were driven by his master’s control. i honestly don’t think wyler will happen, especially since the lead actress herself has openly expressed her dislike for it. tyler is also confirmed to be determined to kill both wednesday and enid, especially enid. in the newly released part two trailer, he’s literally shown chasing enid with clear killer intent.

id also like to point out that wednesday only liked tyler because he seemed normal and nice at first. the moment she found out he was the hyde, she looked disgusted, pushed him away, and ran. that completely debunks the idea that wednesday is “into psychopaths.” some wyler shippers push that narrative because they think the addams family likes psychopaths but that’s not true. younger wednesday even liked joel, who wasn’t a psychopath at all. she might admire certain traits in dangerous people, but she wouldn’t date or love one. some wyler shippers claim the addams family are full-blown psychopaths, so they’d naturally love one but that’s not the case. they’re not cold-blooded killers; they’re simply weird, eccentric, and fascinated by the macabre and morbid. i get why people loosely call them “psychopaths,” but in reality, they’re not.

SPOILERS FOR S2

"tyler was being groomed!” — true, im not denying that and i wont argue with anyone about that because it is true. but that fact alone doesn’t erase what he’s done or make him innocent. grooming can explain part of his origin story, but it doesn’t excuse his actions in season 2, where he acts on his own free will. he’s not just a manipulated victim anymore, he genuinely hates wednesday and chooses to hurt her and the people around her. that’s on him.

continuing onto that paragraph above this one: after being freed, tyler kills his former master, thornhill, and multiple others in cold blood. he then attacks wednesday and he violently hurls her through a window, leaving her bleeding and in a coma. his motivation deepens and his resentment toward wednesday is amplified: he blames her for his incarceration and relishes her suffering. people calling wyler "toxic love" or "dark romance" is GENUINELY baffling me. THEY BOTH HATE EACH OTHER AND THATS CLEAR. wyler fans are way more delusional than wenclair fans and most of you wyler fans are SO ANNOYING.

no, wednesday and tyler were absolutely not flirting in that scene where she meets up with him. she was being entirely condescending, using him solely for information, and questioning him to see if he knew anything, that’s not flirting. wyler just isn’t happening. and for wyler shippers claiming tyler “finds comfort” in wednesday… comfort? you mean the comfort of planning to murder her? be serious. even tyler’s actor, hunter doohan, confirmed that tyler was simply trying to get under wednesday’s skin. sure, tyler may have been flirting a little, but wednesday never reciprocated or encouraged it, she even called him an “expendable nobody.” she doesn’t want him, and wyler shippers refuse to see that. as for the theory that wednesday will become his new master, there’s zero canon evidence for that. it’s not “a wednesday thing.” in the show, the hyde-master bond is clearly portrayed as abusive and manipulative. wednesday would never willingly take on that role, and why would she even want to? tyler hates wednesday, blames her for his capture, and has no desire to serve her.

wyler shippers will see this and still call it toxic love. he literally cracked the back of wednesday's head OPEN.
are we seeing this bro.

SPOILERS FOR P2

like i said before, i never believed wednesday would actually become his master or even care to. in my defense, i still think the writers forced it, anyone who can’t see that is ignoring how out of character it feels. they’ve been making wednesday do things she would never realistically do. back to the master thing, her intentions seemed clear: if she agreed, it was only so she could use that control against him, whether to make him kill himself, stay away from enid, or something along those lines. does she have any real romantic feelings for him? honestly, i don’t think so. the most she feels is neutrality at best, resentment at worst. that whole wednesday x tyler scene wasn’t anything groundbreaking, it was just her acknowledging she once liked him in season 1, and that’s it. she was clearly just manipulating him so she could get close enough to inject the syringe. that scene had zero emotional depth or sincerity, it wasn’t some heartfelt wyler moment at all.

now, let’s talk about tyler reuniting with his mom and meeting his uncle. when isaac buried wednesday alive, there was a moment where tyler stared at her for a little too long. i think he might’ve felt a flicker of regret, guilt, or maybe even lingering feelings for her but if so, it’s definitely not mutual. honestly, why would wednesday ever love someone who tortured her, hurt her friends, and endangered nevermore academy? does anyone even stop to think about that? i keep saying this. even if tyler gets help and somehow becomes a better person, i still don’t think wednesday would ever like him, and i doubt her parents would approve either. no family would want their daughter with the guy who literally cracked her skull open. her parents looked genuinely worried when it happened, and that says everything.

about the hospital scene: wednesday didn’t miss tyler at all when she looked around after hearing he sent her flowers. she was clearly scanning for him to hunt him down, track him, and kill him. tyler’s basically that toxic ex who keeps showing up with flowers and fake sweet gestures, even after doing the most horrific things imaginable. we saw tyler panting and hiding behind the wall, but honestly, it just looked like he didn’t want to get caught. some wyler shippers are saying he was 'too flustered and shy' to face her like, what show are you even watching?

at the end of episode 8, part 2, i honestly don’t get why wednesday even bothered saving him. she’s never been the heroic type and if anything, she’s always leaned into chaos, just like in the older addams family movies. it was never about her being noble; from the beginning, her intention was clearly to kill him. then suddenly, out of nowhere, she feels empathy for tyler? it feels so forced, like the writers are using him as their self-insert oc. wyler’s dynamic has never been natural or endearing, it’s always come off as manufactured drama.

the showrunners and writers of wednesday are honestly terrible. i know this isn’t directly about tyler or wednesday, but it proves my point: they didn’t even tell emma myers (actress of enid) she’d need to act like wednesday and learn the cello until a month before filming. of course she was stressed, i heard she even cried about it, and who wouldn’t? when she pleaded with them, their response was basically 'too bad.' like… seriously? that’s so unprofessional, it blows my mind. a lot of wednesday fans agree that the writers are slowly trying to push enid out of the picture just to cram in more of tyler, but honestly, i don’t see the point in continuing his storyline. i mentioned this in my other paste where i rambled about him, short scenes showing tyler in therapy, getting better, and working on himself would be fine. but bringing him back as a major character again? that makes no sense. i’m really not looking forward to season 3 if it’s going to be this ridiculous.

in conclusion, i do hope tyler gets the proper help he needs and actually works on himself. personally, i headcanon him as aroace, and i don’t want to see him in any kind of relationship while he’s still unstable. he needs to focus on healing first. also, he seriously needs to stay away from older women, every single one so far has taken advantage of him. hopefully professor capri won’t end up like the rest.
