A small update with Guy

Hello guys, it's me. Guy Incognito. If you didn't know - I'm the owner of DoubleDouble! I wanted to make a somewhat lengthy post about some updates about the future of the site.

Holy shit. Thank you guys so much for this rather large milestone. It means quite a lot my weekend project made it this far.

The elephant

If you haven't noticed, DoubleDouble has been kinda in a state of limbo for the past month or so. Only updates to accounts and no new real features or sign of life. There's been a reason for that.

Remember in like April I shared this?

Yeah that took a bit longer than a couple of weeks, didn't it?

We made the decision to put DoubleDouble in maintenance mode so we could focus our attention on perfecting the site and now it looks like this.

Why is it taking so long?

Life. Life happening and getting in the way. Was originally meant to come out in April, then May, then June... etc.

What's to be expected when it comes out?

Much, much faster downloads
No more queues
Client-side zipping
Pretty much an end to region lock-related issues
Much easier account donations

But, because this is a beta, expect bugs and not every service DoubleDouble supported to be ready yet.

The most notable thing that's not quite supported yet is playlists. You can soon help with that though!
