Game

DR2 with tons and tons of new, high-quality stages, often over twice as long as long stages from DR2, improved handling, and also a bunch of new cool cars. What's not to love?

According to https://steamdb.info/app/1849250/ It seems like game is 70% off roughly every two months. You can also grab EA Pass subscription on Steam - it costs 6eur/month, the first month is free. With this demo period, you can check out what's what and how you like it, and then you can make a proper decision on whether you enjoy the game or not.
It seems like WRC is not included in EA pass.

Performance and visuals

It's better than you think, so I'd recommend giving the default settings a shot first. If you have a GPU around 3080 in terms of performance, start with the default settings and set it to high details. WRC is one of those modern wrong-antialiasing games: with AA, you feel like you suffer from nearsightedness, without AA, you end up with way too many jagged edges. A partial solution to that is to increase rendering resolution in headset/steamVR as high as you can, then leave AA on. All in all, the game runs okay and the visuals are also okay, but if you're particularly focused on image clarity, then WRC graphics settings are unfortunately an exercise in letting it go.

In the game's VR settings, you can find a fake 'helmet' that obscures a portion of your screen, configurable vertically/horizontally separately. Performance gains from that are directly proportional to the portion of the FoV you give up on. It's very much worth a shot if you've taken the resolution increase a bit too far or you're suffering from performance issues due to your GPU.
