Full Circle III - Part I
Vorpal, Hunter of the Wicked Dragon - Phase Two
Feral felt her left side burn; the agony spread like pulsating pain, amplified by her weakened state.
The villain looked up to see her assailant—the brutish girl who managed to fend her off months ago. A friend of the welp she faced.
Orochi and Kaylee pounced on Feral before the villain recovered. Kaylee grabbed the villain by the tail and threw her to Orochi, who followed with a punch with enough force to throw Feral back to Kaylee.
Kaylee hit Feral’s back with a sphere of energy; it exploded through her scales, leaving another serious burn on the villain.
Feral looked at Kaylee with venom in her eyes.
Kaylee took the distance and aimed a barrage of energy spheres at the villain’s back. Orochi answered with a barrage of punches against Feral’s chest and belly, capitalizing on the damage done by Rosethorn.
Feral clenched her mouth as agony spread through her whole body. Her adaptations failed to keep up with the output made by her foes, and coupled with the damage Rosethorn dealt, her body would soon reach its limit.
Drekus was absent, which meant her brother was fighting. Feral’s situation was not good.
Between Kaylee’s energy blasts and Orochi’s punches, Orochi’s attacks were by far the weakest, but she also had the most endurance if her foe’s regeneration was anything to go by.
‘I need to defeat her here and now. Otherwise, the flying bitch will not stop attacking.
Feral hatched a plan. She mustered all her strength and will to punch Orochi. It didn’t hurt Orochi but it delayed her next flurry of attacks.
She got out of Orochi’s range as Kaylee’s energy blasts hit the ground with an explosion, a small cloud of dust lifted by it.
The villain fled the scene. She beelined towards one of the empty buildings left by the evacuation.
Orochi’s eyes and hydras moved to watch Feral. ‘We cannot let her run away. We can’t let her roam free.’
That monster would bring too much destruction if they left her alone. “Kaylee! She’s running! We have to face her here and now before she can heal.” Orochi was the first to give chase.
Kaylee blinked. “What about Rosethorn? The ambulance? Where is it?”
“They went ahead! That monster wounded Rosethorn, so I stood back to buy time! Feral is injured. It’s now or never to take her down!” Orochi spoke with a burst of rage in her voice.
Kaylee pursed her lips; she felt that there was more than Orochi’s laconic explanation, but given the circumstances, she could not fish for more information.
The villain broke through the building’s wall, running through the building to create distance between herself and the students.
The student duo bit the bullet and ran through the building, single-mindedly focusing on catching Feral before she ran away.
They broke into another street. Orochi and Kaylee resumed their positions to catch Feral on a pincer attack. ‘Do those girls not care about property damage?’ The villain joked in her mind.
Feral could speak to throw their balance off but she knew it would not work. Kaylee had an unwavering determination in her eyes, while the hydra-girl had burning rage in her eyes, the type that could not be shaken by anything.
Feral’s heart burned, the chance to breathe reinvigorated her stamina, and her adrenaline rose in the face of the challenge. While one was a pushover exploiting a chance, the other was a credible threat.
The fight against those two could prove to be more thrilling than Rosethorn’s struggle.
Feral’s body healed and adapted, like an engine well oiled and fueled. Kaylee noticed the changes in Feral: her scales thickening and hardening, her muscles swelling...
They were running out of time.
She channeled more energy blasts on her hands as Orochi rushed the villain, but this time Feral was not passive.
She clashed against Orochi. Dark-scaled claws collided against red fists clenched tight. Hydras moved to ambush the villain, but her tail grew thicker and larger, acting as a makeshift shield against their bites and headbutts.
Energy blasts hit Feral on the back. They burned and broke through her scales but not enough to cause her to stop and be thrown on the ground like Kaylee’s first ambush, but she knew that Kaylee could wear her down eventually.
Her reptilian eyes opened as a devious plan flourished in her mind. ‘That’s it.’
Feral moved through the street. She pushed Orochi around to keep her enemy close, trading blows like a twisted dance. Kaylee took longer to attack as the enemy kept changing positions, and Orochi kept close to Feral, for she could only attack the villain by staying close to her.
The villain placed Orochi on the defensive; Feral’s movements were too aggressive and strong to ignore and attack her. Orochi had to resign herself to counterattacks while avoiding the villain’s barrage.
The pace of the dance changed suddenly. As Feral’s body adapted, her strategy changed, as charging blindly at her enemies was a death sentence.
Kaylee noticed Feral’s adaptation. Her quirk worked quickly. Orochi kept Feral busy; the villain was not paying attention to her. ‘If I can cause enough damage with one attack, not even her adaptations will keep up.’ It was a risky strategy, but one worth trying.
Kaylee gathered energy with both hands, waiting for the chance to hit Feral with one big attack.
She felt her heart racing and a cold sweat running down her back, her body tiring over the energy she gathered.
Feral stopped dead in her tracks for a moment, and Kaylee released her attack.
However, the results were not what she expected.
The S-class villain allowed a hit to land on her and grabbed Orochi, turning around to throw the student against her fellow student’s attack.
Orochi’s eyes widened as Feral changed positions, and her hands grew to allow a better grip and strength, forcefully shifting the Hydra girl from her position.
Purple eyes reflected the blue light of Kaylee’s energy blast as it hit her back, her Hydras obliterated in an instant.
Orochi’s heart raced as she noticed how open she was to a frontal attack. Feral attacked the moment she placed her arms before herself in a defensive stance.
Dark claws pierced through Orochi’s chest and ripped it open towards her belly, throwing out all of her organs on the ground. Orochi’s eyes dimmed immediately. Her body went limp.
It happened all too fast; her life and strength vanished in the span of a moment. Her heart couldn’t even beat fast or slowly, as it was not even in her chest anymore.
That time, Orochi knew no saving grace would come. She felt her flesh grow cold; despair filled her mind as dim-lit eyes lost their flame and life. But Kaylee was behind her, wasn’t she? The fight was not over for her.
In one last-ditch effort, Orochi raised her arm and thrust it forward. but Feral intercepted it, grabbing the limb and snapping it in half. “Not this time.”
With a soundless thump, Orochi fell to the ground as Kaylee halted her energy attack.
Kaylee saw her friend’s lifeless blood hit the ground, her hydras destroyed, and her torso open like a fish.
Rage. She should feel rage, yet what took hold of her was overwhelming despair, so heavy it dropped her to the ground. Her heartbeats echoed inside her ears.
“What a bitch to deal with. Well, now it is just me and you.” Feral laughed and changed his sights on Kaylee.
Anger bubbled up to the surface of her mind; it was almost enough to force her to act, but despair sank her anger just as quickly. Her mouth dried up. Kaylee looked back at Orochi.
Her body was soaked in blood, and her eyes were turning purple with waning light. Tears slowly fell from her eyes, all her strength gone, even as Feral rushed towards her.
