After One Thousand Years Commentary

Feels kinda weird putting this commentary up. Even though I’ve finished some other works and have been sitting on them. Chapter 2 of After One Thousand Years is somehow the first one of these to release. This chapter’s inception is actually pretty unique. At one point, it was going to be the start of a mini prequel series. At the time I thought this was a pretty good idea but as I was developing out the Sins series chapters, I came to realize that this was a ton of writing to do. Not to mention, AOTY also started in the middle of Sins. But this is about chapter 2 so let’s talk about chapter 2 lmao.

So again it’s inception is unique among most of my writing as it started out as a little idea I had for a prequel. I wanted to give Kronii and Ame some sort of backstory since we’ve now been along their adventure for awhile now. You can definitely consider AOTY a direct sequel to Our Adventure Will Never End, just so there’s no confusion among continuity. So as my idea for a prequel began to develop, I wanted to create Kronii’s first. Kronii being the deuteragonist throughout my writing obviously deserves the spotlight. Plus I feel like I have a little extra leeway with Kronii, being that her momma is Wadarco. I previously borrowed a little from Fate to kinda, indicate Kronii has that background in some shape/form, which is her Reality Marble. In AOTY I take it further by well having the entire SE.RA.PH facility be an in-universe thing. Since SE.RA.PH is Fate extra, you know the deal. So Ame and Kronii explore this mysterious area in Chapter 1 and then Chapter 2 happens. Order of operations and all that.
Still not talking about Chapter 2 I guess lmao. Well a lot of buildup does go into this for me, just as the creator of the story. I need to keep all information consistent and still further grow the world while keeping within constraints I’ve created earlier. So in Chapter 2 we find ourselves in Kronii’s shoes. Although Chapter 1 was in Ame’s. This is important! But yeah we seem to be at an early stage in Kronii’s life and she’s at an Academy of sorts for something. That something seeming to be graduation from the Academy but, there’s an exam she needs to pass. Although I’ve yet to decide if this is the famous Time Academy we all hear about. I wanted to include other Holomem in the academy and spent a bit of time thinking about who it should be that Kronii fights. And after much thinking over it, I felt it was best taking a pretty…small character. A joke character really. The male persona to Calliope Mori, Calvin Mori. And I thought this would be a brilliant idea in the end because he really fit this mold of a cocky, arrogant, fuck boy kind of guy that has this air of confidence. Not too unlike the confidence that Kronii has. So their personalities were similar yet different and I liked the dynamic. I also enjoyed created Calvin’s character, based on the few streams he’s had, as well as his music. I hope he was an enjoyable read and who knows, maybe some day I’ll bring him back. I’m sure there are stories still to be told about the C-man. So many possibilities! That’s what I love about writing!

So here we’re back in time with a still growing and learning Kronii. I wanted to pace the chapter quickly but not quickly if that makes sense. If you noticed things jumped around or felt kinda off, that’s purposeful. If it felt distorted and things in the text looked weird, that’s because they should. I wanted to kind of, point out that the nature of the scenes weren’t natural. Something was off for some reason and Kronii kinda picks up on it, but she also sticks with the flow of the story because that’s what the situation she’s in dictates. So the quickest way to get down to the bottom of things is to just get everything out of the way. Something that I feel Kronii would do irl, if she had a lot of work to do she’d just get it out of the way, even if it kept her up till 6am.
As I created this familiar yet strange world, I had the Hololive office in mind. The one from Hologra. That’s where Friend A was talking to Kronii and C-man. It’ll probably come back up later so don’t forget it! Now that I write this out I have to be careful not to spoil you on any future material. Well if you forget it, it won’t be that big a deal.
And at the very end, someone’s calling out to Ame. I hope that’s a nice hook. I’m not exactly sure when I’ll have the 3rd chapter completed but, I’ll try not to take too long. I do really need to get back to Sins…
