A Special Addition to Let the Date Begin
You begin taking determined steps, set on sticking to your guns and making the best of it. You don't get far before a kerfuffle briefly distracts you. You see that the very first couple has run to the celebration tables and are getting the royal treatment.
You take a deep breath. In that short moment, you realize that you need more than positive change to come into your life. You realize that you must actively change, you've got to take the bull by the horns.
You begin to take firm, decisive steps. Your neck lengthens, your chest raises, your lungs expand with every breath. When you reach the table, you sit down and smile. This is not your assigned table but you refuse to let that stop you.
The man who kept you from leaving smiles at you.
"Hi," he says, "Jaxy?"
He expects his assigned partner, but you realize that she obviously left, went to another table, or hasn't shown up yet.
