We are created to survive and thrive.

Survive.

This is such a simple statement, yet today, we live in a world that seems handcrafted to oppose our continued survival.

Humans are hardwired to survive. Our survival instinct is what has allowed us, for countless millennia, to thrive in even the most hostile conditions imaginable. Our ability to adapt and survive is second to none in the world.

We are not made to self-destruct. Reality is not a terrible curse or a test of our loyalty to ideology. Our nature is not something evil to be conquered and transcended.

Survival is both our most basic instinct and our most divine calling.

You were not created to roll over and die. You were not created to commit suicide, either literally or metaphorically. You were not created to abhor yourself and your own nature. No, you were created to survive above all else. Reject anyone and any teaching which demonizes the notion of your own continued survival. The fact that you have an instinct to survive, to keep going, and to persevere is proof positive that you were created to survive. The fact that you are still here is proof you were created to survive.

Your survival isn't sinful, either! Survival is selfish, because it means prioritizing your own interests and needs over the interests and needs of others, to a degree. At least in Christianity, selfishness of all kinds is considered "sinful." Christianity is wrong: it's okay to be selfish, when selfishness is necessary to ensure your continued survival. Reject the claim that selfishness is sinful and evil. Instead, embrace the idea that survival is our imperative, and that the selfishness of survival is a necessary component of our intentional existence as created people.

Survival is never sinful, immoral, oppressive, unethical, tyrannical, evil, or otherwise wrong.

Survive. It's literally what you were created to do, from start to finish.
