Possible Questions You May Have
"Are any ariabl'eyes albums connected to each other?"
Yes! But only a few of them! Rozenkreuz and Roozen Renetto are connected to each other, while Zankyou no Coffin is connected to Shuugeki no Romanesque. There's also Zettou no Labyrinth, which is loosely connected to Chiisana Majo to Himitsu no Hon, an album that is not entirely by Ariabl'eyeS in which they did 2 songs out of the total 6. Then there's the Vampire Bride I and II which are obviously interconnected to each other, same goes for Doukoku no MiaLuca I and II and any other albums labelled I and II.
As for these other ones, they're not "connected" per se, but sougetsu oratorio seems like an alternate gesshoku oratorio, kegarenaki ruriiro no rozenkreuz is a full on remake of ruriiro no rozenkreuz, and reimei sinfonia is kind of a compilation of a few singles they had released up to that point, but none of those would qualify as a "continuation" proper, just rehashes. So yeah, hope this clears that up! Ask me if I wasn't clear enough lol.
"Why are you doing these translations? They're not even good and barely anyone's reading them"
There's a boring story behind it but basically it's a self-cathartic type of thing, I thought "I wish there were at least shitty tumblr-tier translations for the songs I like" and then it hit me "wait, I can make my own shitty tumblr-tier translations". That's why I don't ever promote them on my twitter or talk about them anywhere else, if anything I feel ashamed when people talk to me about them. For god's sake I literally post these on tumblr, a dead website that no one uses anymore. How do people keep finding these?
"Do you post these anywhere else"
God no, not at all. Some person on youtube has copypasted a bunch of my translations (giving proper credit), but I'm too embarrassed to do that myself. You can repost these if you feel like it and mentioning me would be ethical I guess, but I certainly will just stay hidden over here.
"Hey why don't you make a whole new blog for these, I don't care about your shitty le funny reblogs"
too lazy orz, I didn't expect to end up doing this many when I began, and now I'm too lazy to move them somewhere else. Plus the shitty reblogs show a sign of life you know, only one per day but it shows that I still check this place.
"How accurate are these translations?"
I have no official certifications, have never attended Japanese lessons, or have any confidence in what I'm doing, that should tell you a lot. I don't mean this in your run-of-the-mill "Guy who self-taught himself japanese and is now an expert" kind of way but rather "guy who struggles with basic grammar" kind of way. If you notice my mistakes, do tell me about them, I welcome any verbal ass kicking you're willing to dish out as long as it makes my posts better, I truly DO want to understand all of these better than I currently do so I welcome any criticism.
Also if you send me a better translation to anything I've done, I will welcome it with open arms and edit my post to direct people to that translation instead, as I have done in the past.
Translations aside, the romaji lyrics are pretty accurate, it's easy getting those right if you have the song written down in japanese (narration bits are often excluded from booklet lyrics though...)
"Do X song / Do you take requests?"
Sure, don't know why'd you ask that of me given the previous segment but yeah, sure, I'll at least try, I've done several requests in the past, even got tipped handsomely for some. If I can't find japanese lyrics or album scans for the song, I'll probably just give up though, so if you could provide scans or jp lyrics yourself that'd be great. Having to guess lyrics by ear doesn't provide a high quality output, I'd probably be inaccurate doing that even in my own language.
"You used to post a lot more often"
Yes. I used to, but my current job demands too much time and attention, actually barely have any time to sit in front of my pc at all, let alone play videogames or even check out new music.
"Why is the italization so weird and inconsistent in your posts?"
Basically it's tumblr's fault, I highlight the entire paragraph, hit italics, and then when I actually hit post it somehow automatically de-italicizes the last word of the paragraph. It's really weird, extremely infuriating once you notice and I don't know why it happens. I loudly complained about it one time.
"When are you doing more reviews? Those are fun!" or alternatively "Stop doing those stupid reviews, no one cares about those" which btw isn't even a question, that's just being rude
Bro believe me I really love writing and reading my own writing even if no one actually cares about my takes. However not EVERY game gets me writing, even when I feel like I should write a few paragraphs about something I noticed in a game I usually just tweet the main idea and the itch is satiated with that to the point I no longer feel like writing the longer form review. But yea, as long as I keep playing games there's the risk I'll write once again (videos are off the table though, unless I'm once again unemployed there's simply no time to do them even though, much like I love reading my own writing, I loooove hearing myself).
"When are you doing x ariabl'eyes album?"
Here's the ones I'm missing:
-Elysium: I just don't have scans. I did Secret Garden a while ago because someone specifically requested it, but that was done by ear so who knows if I got it right. I legit hope I buy this one some day.
-The few new songs from kegarenaki ruriiro no rozenkreuz: No scans!
-The FUCKING IDOL SONG LYSE COMPOSED FOR AN EXTREMELY SHORT LIVED IDOL GROUP: I too would like to just HEAR the song in it's entirety but it's literally not sold in any place where I buy things online, can't even find it on jp auction sites, plus given that the group disbanded I don't see them putting it on spotify or anything like that. I'd classify this one as extremely-super-rare-basically-lost-media but hey, if you get the album "Real World" by Choujigen Romanesque, HIT ME THE FUCK UP I WANNA HEAR THAT SONG SO BAD.
Mebius: MuLyer did both songs! What a hero!
-Any upcoming new albums: well I'd sure love to do them, but we'll see.
-I can't think of anything else they've done or participated in, but if I'm missing something tell me about it, if not to transcribe then at least to check it out for myself lol, you might not have noticed this but... I actually like the band quite a bit!
What about -Lostfairy-? And Symholic? Why do you continue to ignore their albums despite obviously being aware of them?
I do like them! But my friend Aurora is already doing a much better job with them than I possibly could, check out her stuff at https://luckydoujin.blogspot.com/
