Backstory:

Elizabeth was but a child when pirates attacked her hometown. One moment she was playing outside, the next she was chained in the dark below deck, to be sold off into slavery alongside everyone she knew and loved. She would have been doomed to such a fate, were it not for the Navy and the Marines. Though she managed to escape the slavers, she was the only one to do so, being pulled aboard the Marine's ship to safety.

She joined the Marines as soon as she could, both in the hope she could find out what happened to her family, as well as to get revenge on the pirates who destroyed her life. She learned how to maintain and steer the mighty ships of the line, as well as how to fight, picking up close quarter combat skills, the Two Powers of Geppo and Soru, and even the basics of Haki.

While serving as a Warrant Officer, the ship she was on came under attack from pirates, seeking to steal the Giro-Giro no Mi, the secret cargo intended to be stored for a future Admiral. Most of the crew, including the serving Captain, were taken out by the assault, leaving a few junior Marines against seasoned pirates. Left with no option, Elizabeth decided to eat the fruit herself, figuring it was better that it remained in the hands of the Marines than fall to the Pirates. With the power of the Lightning Logia, she was able to defeat the Pirates, capture their ship, and awaken her Conqueror's Haki.

When reinforcements finally arrived, they found her prepared to be taken into custody. Whatever the reason, she had in effect stolen World Government property, and that carried a heavy sentence. Taken in Seastone cuffs back to Marine Headquarters, she was put on trial, with execution being the punishment for a guilty sentence. Fortunately, she had an incredible lawyer, who not only got her a Not Guilty verdict, but got her onto an effective fast-track through the ranks, justified as recouping the cost of the loss of one of the mightiest Devil Fruits.

Given a new lease on life with her freedom, she doubled down on her mission against piracy, using her new powers to go on a reign of terror against those who would fly a Jolly Roger. By the age of 18, she had been promoted to Captain, given command over a Battleship, and earned many accommodations. Now, she sails the seas in the Lightning Justice, a Battleship modified with weapons and equipment designed to run on her limitless electricity.
