Cho Sangwoo, also known as player 218. is the childhood best friend of gi hun whos also known as player 456, sangwoo went to seoul national uni and he also became successful but after a while he got in debt which led him to participate in squid game. After the games were stopped by the majority vote, his heavy debt almost led him to kill himself in his motel room before he was offered the last chance to rejoin squid game with a paper, which he accepts. he had a team with his best friend Gihun and started to help them. Also befriending ali abdul, player 199 although, to survive he applied to manipulation while they were a duo in the fourth game, leaving ali to die and betray him. he also murdered sae byeok player 067, which leads player 218 and 456 to be alone together.
i like sangwoo's story alot, i love the fact hes smart and also caring. sure some people can say that hes a villian cause he killed sae byeok and ali andul but he did do such thing to survive, he geniunely cares for gihun and ali at first but his desperate needs to win for his mother did ruin it which led to people calling him a villian or hate on him if i remember correctly, sangwoo sacrificed himself for gihun cause he felt guilty and refused to leave empty handed. he saw himself as a failure and told gihun to promise him to care of his mother because he couldnt. I also believe that him killing himself in the end was an act of selfishness which makes sense
