Act I.

London, the imperial capital. Dr. Jekyll, a renowned and hard working female doctor, is devoted to the study of psychology, remembering that her father, who was once accused of corruption, took his own life out of guilt.

One day, Jekyll discovers that she has a violent alter ego, “Hyde”, who is different from her original personality. Once the male Hyde emerges, he pursues only his own pleasure, and he harms people without regard to their feelings.

“Why…...would I do such cruel things?”

Eventually, Jekyll succeeds in an experiment in which she can switch her personality by using a medicine she developed herself, but she is troubled by the extremes of her own nature, both good and evil.

However, she thinks that if she were to apply this principle and be able to completely separate good and evil through her medicine, it would be possible to save people who suffer from guilt-induced mental illness like her father.

Then, as “Jekyll”, she reunites with her former friend, Detective Utterson, and learns that he is pursuing a series of bizarre murders in the imperial capital.
Utterson knows that as “Hyde” Jekyll is wanted for his nightly violent outbursts in the city, and suspects that she is somehow connected to the murders. Jekyll defends herself and says that she is not the culprit. Utterson offers her a deal: if he finds the culprit, he will overlook the violence. In order to clear her name, Jekyll transforms into Hyde and joins Utterson in the hunt for the real serial killer.

Act II.

Jekyll and Utterson search for the perpetrator of a series of bizarre murders, investigating crime scenes and conducting interviews. By transforming into Hyde, Jekyll is able to use his evil nature and thoughts to get to the heart of the case.

However, she gradually becomes able to transform into Hyde of her own will without the use of drugs, and she notices that Hyde's control over her body has become even stronger. Jekyll cooperates with the investigation while hiding this from Utterson.

One day, Jekyll, who has been racking her brains trying to develop a drug to control Hyde, meets up with an old friend, Dr. Lanyon, who is a mutual acquaintance with Utterson.

Happy to discuss her research with a fellow psychiatrist, Jekyll confides in him about her research into the use of drugs to separate good from evil and the existence of Hyde. However, Lanyon does not believe in such an unscientific thing and denies Jekyll, saying, “You are out of your mind.”

Act III.

As Utterson continues his investigation, he becomes frightened by Hyde, who has a violent personality but a clear mind, and who uses his knowledge of criminal psychology to get closer to solving the case.

On the other hand, he becomes deeply involved with Jekyll as they work together on the case, and is attracted to her sensitive personality and her drive to be rational and honest, in contrast to Hyde's personality.

Utterson asks Jekyll if she can someday create a drug that will completely eliminate Hyde's evil personality.

“Don't worry, I'm working on it,” Jekyll replies.

Later, the body of a prostitute is discovered in the imperial capital. Based on the characteristic marks left at the crime scene, Utterson concludes that it is the same culprit as the series of serial killings. With Hyde's help, they discover that the culprit is one of the brothel's customers.

As Utterson pursues the suspect, he begins to feel a sense of unease. Although the suspect has been confirmed to be the perpetrator of the series of bizarre murders, it seems that the perpetrator of the first murder case is different…...

Act IV.

Utterson, who is shaken by there being two killers, is informed that his old friend, Dr. Lanyon, has gone missing. Before his disappearance, Lanyon had left a strange letter addressed to Utterson.

The letter states that Jekyll, whom he recently reunited with, is acting strangely, and Lanyon speculates that her alter ego, Hyde, may be involved in the murders.

Utterson rushes to Jekyll's house. But there, Hyde was lying on the ground, vomiting blood and looking like he was about to take his last breath.

“I've sealed Lanyon's mouth,” he said. “If I’d killed you next...... I could have escaped and lived free in this body. That bitch Jekyll was so afraid I would take over that she drank poison.”

Hyde clutches a vial. From these words, Utterson learns that Jekyll was unable to develop a drug to suppress Hyde. When Utterson approaches him and asks where Lanyon is, Hyde laughs his last laugh and says that he’ll have to ask Jekyll about that. He points to the cupboard and dies.

When Utterson searches the cabinet, he finds Jekyll's suicide note, stating Lanyon's whereabouts and identifying Hyde as the perpetrator of the first bizarre murder. Hyde had killed the person involved in the corruption scandal that had caused his father to commit suicide.

Later, Dr. Lanyon is discovered in the hut by the river that Jekyll wrote about. He was weak but alive. After the case is settled, Utterson visits Jekyll's grave.

“I wanted to arrest you, and I wanted to talk to you more.”

As he speaks, Utterson smiles kindly and places a bouquet of flowers in front of the grave. He remembers her, thinking that he was the only person who understood Jekyll and Hyde.

Aftertalk.

Nekoashi Tsubomi
A female doctor who is devoted to her research in memory of her deceased father, huh? Hmmm......

Akiru Kamira
Senpai seems to like this performance a lot, don’t you?

Nekoashi Tsubomi
Where there is good, there is evil; where there is light, there is always darkness. That's how the world works.

Akiru Kamira
Yes, yes. The human heart is really the essence of evil and righteousness. Good and bad are two sides of the same coin.

Nekoashi Tsubomi
Hmmm. Akiru is a surprisingly “understanding” person......? ......I'd be happy to tell you about “them” in particular.

Nekoashi Tsubomi
......No, I'd better stop talking about this. I can't involve you, an uninvolved person.

Akiru Kamira
Eh?

Nekoashi Tsubomi
I have to go. I don't want any pursuers to come after me.

Akiru Kamira
Oh, she's gone. Senpai, you looked kind of lonely....… Is it just my imagination?
