Sorry in advance for what I'm sure is about to become a very stream-of-consciousness post. So first off, I don't know if you ever firmly decided whether you wanted one kind of chuubanite for your whole nation, or hundreds of different kinds for each chuuba. If we're going with one kind for the whole nation, I would personally probably go with some kind of instantaneous message-relay ability, since /2434/ the thread is mostly used for things like announcement posts and sharing links to clips.

If you're going to go with hundreds of different kinds for each chuuba, however -- which I think is what I would actually recommend to you -- then this absolutely will have a huge impact on your nation's culture. The reason I'm suggesting this now even though I previously suggesting the opposite is partially because from our previous conversations on the subject, I honestly think you'll have more fun this way. Nijisanji is about having "a vtuber for everyone," right? And it's clear that in following with that motto, you very much have your own favorites who you want to write about more than the others. I think that's fine, you know? It leaves room for any future /2434/ writers to have fun and write societies for their oshis too, which would be quite difficult with the "one chuubanite for the whole nation" approach. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but iirc you've actually written very little about your nation's people. Have you perhaps found it difficult since you are attempting to represent such a wide variety of such tiny (on /vt/ anyway) fanbases?

Going for this approach would solve that, as with the "hundreds of different kinds of very rare chuubanite" approach, I would personally write the people of the Mononobe Shogunate as having very little to no patriotism -- on a meta level, this also works as a reflection of the fact that Nijisanji has never really attempted to push the idea of brand loyalty. But, conversely, the sense of community between people who consider the same kami their patron would be really, really strong. Think about how you feel when you run across posters who share the same nijiJP oshi as you. It's probably pretty exciting, right? There's an instant feeling of kinship because it's so rare. You know that sort of "small, rural town" vibe where everyone knows everybody else and you wouldn't think twice about knocking on a neighbor's door to ask to borrow a cup of milk or something? Individual towns, dedicated to primarily worshipping one out of the Shogunate's many kami, would be like that. They all worship different gods and have different magic/mutations/whatever, so they end up developing very differently from the nation's other towns. Because these towns are all so distant from one another and there's relatively little national pride, there wouldn't be a lot of cultural crossover either outside of values held by the whole nation, such as the sense of honor you've previously talked about. This allows fanbases to remain distinct.

Now, if you go with this approach, I recommend first deciding what you want each fanbase's people to be like, and then using chuubanite to enforce their identity. It'll be for flavor, basically. For example, perhaps the people of a small lakeside town all worship Amamiya. They're a devout people whose chuubanite allows them to "share" feelings through direct touch, so long as the connection is enforced by Amamiya-chuubanite. (Perhaps this would work through some kind of "equalizing" effect where the chuubanite wants anything in contact with it to exhibit the same relative levels of hormones/brain chemicals?) This has allowed them to form deep connections with the small local dragons, who have enough Amamiya-chuubanite buildup in them to allow this empathy ability to work between them and the human villagers. Meanwhile, off on the Western shores of /nijimale/, perhaps there stands a town protected by the might of the Lagusa clan. This clan came from a foreign land, and rumors abound about their...unusual appetites, furthered along by the strange blood tributes they demand from their subjects. Combined with the Kuzuha-chuubanite in the area which shrouds the entire town in perpetual fog, creating a land where the sun seems never to rise, many avoid this town -- but, conversely, the town is the last hope of many. As the Lagusa clan was originally founded by exiled nobles fleeing their dirty pasts, they believe firmly in second-chances and the possibility of redemption, and thus offer refuge for all who seek it.

The extreme scarcity of each individual kind of chuubanite would prevent any of this magic from seeing use on an international scale, but I don't really think that's really a problem. If you want to develop national magitech, there are always the "mundane" applications of chuubanite.

Now, you might be thinking, but what about people who have multiple oshis, or who just kind of watch whoever? Quite simply, a nation must consist of more than small towns. The capital, busy ports and other large cities would contain a mix of people who with a more "general" national culture, where the people may still have one kami they consider their patron, but the worship of many kami is considered the norm. I visit /2434/ pretty infrequently so I'm not sure if any fanbase is especially prominent among the posters, but if there are any, you could consider representing those as the people in power in big cities.
