Diary Reseach Notes
The therapist said that I should keep a diary, to express my emotions since I normally can't. I don't think it's useful in that sense, but having a record of my thoughts may be a good thing. It also gives me a reason to start some notes on my research, or maybe investigation is more appropiate? I am not a scientist, I am just gathering information and putting it togheter, but visiting that temple with Mochi gave me an idea, there is too much I don't know and some of the things the priest said made a lot of sense. I need to know more, and I can't rely on religion to answer all my questions.
Classmates
Koroma Kajō
A very energetic girl, I am not sure how to deal with her on a personal level. If there is one thing we have in common is that we both use our respective quirks for mundane things naturally. She is good at games, makes friends easily, has too many hobbies to count since I hear her talk about something different every day and sometimes her double comes out of nowhere, whispers something to her while they look at me and leaves, I think she hates me. We have a surprising amount of things in common, and are near eachother a lot considering she is seated in front of me in class and we have a club in common, but I feel like se is avoiding me. I would like to at least be on speaking terms with her, we are supposed to be a team, but I guess she will have less problems talking to me with game chat if my aura is the only problem.
Quirk: Reset
I don't remember any myths that have to do with timeloops, they are a more modern concept but I think there are some roots in there somewhere. Being the descendant of some god of time or other could make sense but it's a bit of a stretch, I don't think she has god blood or whatever the priest called it. It's a powerful quirk regardless and she uses it a lot, I don't like some of the implications of it however. Because of how it works the original KK will never face any real hardship and as such will never get used to things, it could be a problem for her in the future.
Reiji Kawano
He is a showy and prideful guy. Making an AI for the whole class was pretty cool of him but the presentation was a bit excessive, and he messed up the editing at the end. He acts very shady for someone that outgoing, I see him skulk around places where nobody goes normally, I am not sure what he does there but he did not appreciate being seen that one time, or maybe it was the fact I floated down from the sky. I am surprised he is not in the gameing club, he seems like he would like that, but maybe he prefers creating them. Not sure what to make of the guy overall, and it feels like he is watching me sometimes.
Quirk: Something to do with techology?
Whatever his quirk is it doesn't really show on him. He seems to have a close connection with technology, I think it's something in his brain. Regardless it is not related to myths in any way, it's too modern, too new, this goes againts what Imamu said, I don't think there is a god that would bless someone with technopathy. He does look very proud of what he can do at least so I think he is happy with it.
Ichigo Sanizawa
The most normal girl in class, and slightly out of place because of that, she seems to have been adopted by the extroverts in her close vicinity. She seems to be affected by my aura a lot, I think she was not prepared to be here in general, she was a general course student that failed the test at first I heard so she probably feels more out of place as well. I do feel bad for her, I know what being out of place feels like, but I can't do much about it if she doesn't get over the aura, I can't force her. She could have been a good class rep I think, sadly Mr.Rules won. I saw her sneak out of the dorms a couple of times, I am not sure what she was doing, or if it was even realy sneaking off, but it's none of my concern, as curious as I am I don't think she would appreciate me investigating that part of her life.
Quirk: Clone Jutsu(I don't know if she would be upset if I call it that)
Many legendary creatures have abilities to clone themselves, many gods too, it's a possible blessing. A useful quirk I think, maybe the examiners did not see it the same way. She needs more confidence in herself I think, she could be a good hero, if she gets over the anxiety.
Yagami Kirako
I don't like her, she gives me the creeps. I don't like judging people by first impressions and looks but she feels fake, everything she says feels fake, her quirk feels fake too. I never met someone like her, but I can't really do anything about it either. Maybe I misuderstood her, maybe she has a similar problem to Sankai, but she pretends to be too perfect for that to make sense. I would like to know what she is hiding but I don't think it's the case to inverstigate her. She keeps staring at Isao, I don't know why but maybe she took the loss in the election worse than she let on. I will have to go camping with her, I just hope everyone else will be fine, I can ignore her like she ignores me most of the time but I know she is not as liked as she wishes she was.
Quirk: Ghost Hand
A simple quirk, which is why it feels fake. The list of gods and monsters with something similar to this that could bless her is way too long, I guess it's possible but at the same time I don't feel like it makes sense. Maybe she will slip up and her real quirk will make more sense.
Yamasaki Yuudai
My roommate and very strange person. He is polite composed and formal, and very attentive of his surroundings most of the time, but something about him feels forced. It's probably just my aura acting up, he is the one most exposed to it since we sleep in the same room, I can't imagine it being easy for him, I see him toss and turn sometimes, even if I usually fall asleep first. He treats me well, so I feel really bad about forcing him to deal with my aura, maybe I should request a room change. Sometimes he becomes surprisingly supportive of my problems, one time he even used a swear word I am pretty sure, I almost choked. I do my best to lessen the burden of the aura on him and to be a good roommate, he even lets the window open for me to get back, so I hope I can repay him someday. There are times when he looks really tired, he tries to hide it but I can tell, sometimes I feel like he doesn't feel my aura and he is hiding something else instead, but that would too good to be true. If it really was tho, what could be so important, or so tiring?
Quirk: Peak Condition I think?
Superhuman capabilities are way too common to pinpoint the origin of a supposed blessing of this kind. I am not sure if he is even using his quirk most of the time, he is about as strong as me, I may be a lttle stronger now on account of all the sacrifices recently and the training, but the researchers said that my strenght is not directly part of my quirk, at least not what I was capable of before, so is he really using it? If he is it's not that big of a boost all things considered, still I don't think it matters, he is very dedicated and definitely better at combat than I am, without the other parts of my quirk I would have no chance to win. Even quirkless people can be heroes, hell one of the most infamous villains in the world is quirkless, Yuudai will be a good hero one day, better than me for sure at least.
Nowaru Kimi
She is quite the character, shows almost no reaction to my aura, or anything in general actually. Her quirk may have something to do with it but I think this kind of thing needs at least a level of natural disposition. I don't know much else about her, she doesn't really speak much and information is scarce. We are both in the outdoors club, I was not expecting that, maybe she likes nature. I am not sure we have much in common but I should have no problems getting along with her, I don't think she is as creepy as the other students make out to be.
Quirk: Ghost Talk
Her quirk makes her talk to ghosts from what I gather, which may be why she is not bothered by my aura. Many legends have to do with death and ghosts, in Japan there is the legend of the shinigamis, guides to the underworld or something of the sort, it could be a blessing from that. I don't know how her quirk can be used to do direct hero work, but maybe she is aiming to be an underground hero from the start. It would help any investigation to be able to talk to the dead, depending on how cooperative they are.
Akuba Kaedabi Ohene
Another transfer student, he is from Africa I think. He is very reserved, and I don't think he cares much about making friends, but is not unfriendly either. He is polite enough and is paying attention in class, his Japanese is way better than mine, but he acts really strange when I am around. I never saw this kind of reaction to my aura, he seems to avoid me with surgical precision, my aura should not give out my precise location without looking at me, maybe he uses his quirk to track me. I am not sure what I did, it seems a bit exagerated as a reaction to fear, he doesn't seem like a coward or easily scared otherwise. It's as if he was hiding something, but just from me, that would be ridiculus, I am not his mortal enemy or anything.
Quirk: Anansi's webs (I probably got the spelling wrong)
His quirk has something to do with being a spider or spinning webs or something. He called it with the name of a myth from his homeland, you don't get more direct than that when trying to find the source of a blessing. It seems very useful for hero work, and he seems pretty good at it. It may allow some form of keeping track of people, it would make sense for a spider.
Kotoko Takata
A reserved boy, look very young but I am pretty sure he is the same age as everyone else, maybe all the nutrients go to the tentacles. He seems conflicted about my aura, I think he feels it but bother reacting? He is normally reserved, but I don't think he is avoiding me, or anyone it's just how he is. He does seem to get along with his roomate at least, or they talk a lot, well Gyoyu talks more but he has yet to get chased away so he can't be bothering him to much. Even without the aura in the way it's a bit hard to approach him, I am very interested in another clearly mythical quirk but it would sound really strange if I just asked him that. I hear the students of the other courses compare us a lot, but other than the similar mythical quirk we don't seem to have many intersts in common. I could ask him but it would feel strange.
Quirk: Kraken
I don't have to wonder where his supposed blessing comes from, it's obvious enough. He called himself Leviathan, which is appropiate if you consider some of the depictions of it in myths and legends. I guess that is a similarity between us, we both control one of the four classic elements. I don't know how much he does embody the legend his quirk is based on but I would like to find out, it may help me with my problems too. I still have no idea how to approach the subject.
Gyoyu Kamiya
He is very nice, he even warned me in class once when I was spacing out. He has a whole persona as a delinquent, but the only reason I can tell is because it seem the one you see in anime and mangas, I am pretty sure everyone knows it's fake but I can see the effort, I have to respect that. I know what it means to hide behind a mask, even if he does it for a different reason probably, so I hope he succeds at whatever he is trying to do with this. He seems to be under the impression I am also a delinquent, I am not sure if he think I am also pretending of if he think I am a real one. I will admit I don't have the most stellar conduct, but it should not be to that extent right? He doesn't seem to react to my aura much, but he is used to acting and he doesn't let the aura break his character either, that's admirable, but I am not sure why he tries so much.
Quirk: Grease Hand? I don't know what to call this.
His quirk is something strange, I think it's grease control but only a specific kind. I saw him make a giant hand out of it from his hair in training but I am not sure what else he can do. I think there was a youkai that has a similar power, or some minor legend, considering it a blessing is not completely out of the question but it would be a real weird blessing to get. He makes it work for his training tho, and it can be used to restrain people I guess, that way more hero like than my approach.
Higana Hanasaki
Very polite girl, very friendy but there is something about the way she acts that puts me on edge. She is not fake like the other one, but when she talks it feels like there is an implied second meaning I don't get, maybe it's just my lack of Japanese proficiency. She looks at me strangely sometimes, but I am pretty sure she does that with everyone, it may have something to do with the fact she has only one eye uncovered.
Quirk: Flowers something
She can control plants, it's a pretty common power of myths. From the mother goddess gaia to a more simple dryad she could easily be blessed by something. A useful power that she seems to have based a lot of her character around, I have the feeling she is holding back. Or I am just too influenced by knowing the symbolism of the flower she seems to like so much.
Isao Mitarai
He is unbearable, uptight, obnoxious, annoying and many other bad words, but he is at least coherent. He is also making sure to keep his word, he is honorbound, which is something I can sympatize with. I hate his methods but I don't think what he wants is wrong, his heart seems to be in the right place. His determination seems to nullify may aura, why him? Could it not be someone nicer? Anyway he did help me, or attempted to, and he treats me no different than the others, the fact that he is so fucking overbearing does not really matter in this case. I don't know what is the problem with his helmet and why he never takes it off but I had to deal with stranger stuff growing up. I also have to admit another thing, of all the class rep candidates he is the only one that didn't promise anything that a class rep is not supposed to do, the other two acted like they were being elected student council president instead.
Quirk: Soap
I can kinda see this being a water creature blessing but I don't think there is a soap legend, not an old one at least. He uses his quirk for strange stuff sometimes, but overall he manages to extract a lot more out of it than I would expect. I have to respect his hard work, even if his methods are obnoxious there too.
Ikuno Koru
I don't even know where to begin with her, she appears to lack any self preservation instincts. She doesn't seem to feel my aura, or fear in general. I don't know where her confidence comes from, or if her quirk is messing with her head, but she is at least good at taking hits. She nominated herself class rep with a lot of strange promises, how did she think that was going to work?
Quirk: Unbreakable(supposedly)
She takes hits good. I don't understand the concept behind it, and she clearly doesn't either. Being invulnerable is a definitely divine trait, many legendary blessings are about that so I can see it. That also means that thinking of a specific one is not easy. If there is something I remember about all of those stories is that they all have a weakness, so she is likely to be not as invulnerable as she thinks she is.
Kirisuto Hiro
A very nice guy, if a bit passive. Back home they would call him a Saint, my grandma probably would call him the second coming of jesus without a beard. You don't need to be e genious to see he's suffering, but he deals with it pretty well, considering the situation. I would like to talk to him but I don't really want to add to his burden, I am sure he is just too kind to say anything about it.
Quirk: A fucking demon
Or The Adversary as Kirisuto calls it, I think he was too kind to give it a name. I hear of what it does, and I can see the pain on Kirisuto's face when he hears it too, I know he is not faking it, he can't control it. Somehow it never targeted me, I wonder why? Anyway I don't need to find a source of this, it's not a blessing, it's a curse, and it's clearly a demon.
Shinohara Katsuryoku
I started off on the wrong foot with him, hopefully the letter helps but I still think I did the best I could at the moment. He is clearly very smart, he talks about stuff I would probably struggle to understand even if I knew Japanese better. He took possession of the storage on the male side turning it into a lab of sorts, I see a lot of scrap enter and not much leave so I have to assume he is doing something that requires a lot of material in there. His face sometimes reminds me of how people describe me when I stop holding back, he doesn't seem like he's holding back, maybe not in the same way.
Quirk: Plasma
I guess you could call this a blessing of the sun or light, I am not sure, it feels a bit too scientific to call it a blessing. He made his own metal arms, I don't think it's a good idea to ask what happened to his real ones.
Romero Ketsueki
Quiet, looks bored most of the time, likes music and anime apperently but you would not be able to tell since he doesn't really talk to anyone about it. I am not sure if he really likes being alone or if he is akward around people, the way he alternates between looking carefully and avoiding eye contact feels more like the latter. I could try talking to him to gather more information, we do have at least one thing in common to talk about, but I have the feeling he will just mist away if I get too close. Something about him feels strange, I feel as if my blood sense acts up but I don't think he is injuried, but it could be my imagination, albinism can be considered a sickness so that may be affecting me.
Quirk: Mist form
He is a vampire, that's it. Being blessed by a vampire is not a sentence you normally hear, but in this case it's all too abvious. He seems to have gotten the short end of the stick, just the cosmetics and turning to mist, but I would not be surprised if he was hiding more facets of his quirk, I am in the same boat and would do the same if they were blood related. Not a hero like quirk, but it depends more on how he plans to use it, or if he plans to go underground. I don't think he is weak to sunlight like a vampire is, I saw him stand in it just fine, but albinism causes the skin to be more sensitive to sunlight so he probably doesn't like it. I think he may have influenced himself to act more vampire like instinctively, or it's just the natural consequences of his combination of traits.
Iwata Yasu
I don't know how to describe him, but I guess he definitely chose the right hero name. He is immune to my aura, I don't know how or why but he just doesn't feel it, it's a bit creepy because unlike others that seem resistant he should be terrified, I met his kind before but he apparently ascended or something. He spends all his time in class staring at the girls, outside I see him stare at girls, I am willing to bet he stares at girls even with no girls around somehow. I am slightly disgusted by his attitude but he is at least pleasant to be around, he doesn't bother me and is not bothered by me, I think it's overall a best case scenario. I do feel bad for the girls but he seems inoffensive for now, he is just watching.
Quirk: Too many eyes
His quirk is clearly a blessing from an edlritch god, I don't like assuming things or jumping to conclusions but it explains too much. He is unaffected by my aura because his mind is too eldritch, and his quirk just manifests a part of his true body. I don't think Imamu knows what eldritch gods are, he seems more stuck on the classical gods and myths, so he would not aggree, and there are other legends related to eyes but this makes more sense to me. I know I am exagerating, and he probably just lacks self preservation instincs like that girl, but the way things line up is too perfect. I would study him more but I don't want to deal with him.
Fukuchi Arai
A very nice kid, he acts showy and fun but not in the prideful way Reiji does. He cares a lot about his magician persona and tries to be friendly, but I can see my aura affecting him. He is puttin in a lot of effort into being a hero, but he seems really passive and kinda goes with the flow, that's more sidekick material according to the lessons we got. He ended up in both my clubs but I am not even sure he likes them, not enough to be dedicated to them over other clubs at least. Maybe he just needs time to open up.
Quirk: Illusionist
A lot of cratures work with illusions, it's a possible blessing of some trickster god or maybe a youkai. He explained how his quirk works a bit, and how he prefers to supplement it with classic illusionism, it adds to the confusion.
Atsuko Mitarai
Sister to Mr.Rules, way less unbearable but difficult to deal with for different reasons. She has a very energetic personality and befriended the other younger student in class almost immediately, I would not be able to guess that they never met before. With a provisional license already and being the daughter of a famous hero she tends to mention it more than her brother, but it doesn't seem out of malice. She has a strange reaction to my aura, she gets startled when I approach but she doubles down on cheer instead, it's confusing but doesn't feel fake. I do feel bad about being unable to keep up with her, I can't risk losing control. She will be fine at least.
Quirk: Water
She reminds me of an Undine, a water spirit, her personality also somewhat fits. A powerful quirk, she seems very proud of it, and trained with it more than most of the class. I think she already has a very good idea of what kind of hero she wants to be, and her quirk is versatile enough to help her with whatever.
Yun Jae-Seong
A transfer student from Korea, I don't know much about the place. He is calm and collected most of the time, even if he gets distracted often, which is understandable considering his quirk. He likes games and joined the games club, unsurprisingly one might say, and he is quite good at it. He does not seem particularly bothered by my aura, compared to the average person, but his quirk construct is a different story.
Quirk: Heart of the Swarm
This is a strange situation, I know exactly where his quirk comes from, but considering it a blessing would imply that somewhere out there the Zerg existed. The queen unit, named Screech, is aggressive, impulsive and operates on differnt logic, but is not uncontainable, and is not as dumb as someone would assume. The swarm both has a different language of sorts and probably comunicates mentally as well if the game is any indication. They react to my aura in a very aggressive way, not enough to attack on sight but I can feel the sharp gaze of the queen from time to time, she may consider me a predator as far as i know.
Maborineko Sankai
A cheerful girl all things considered, she has some peculiar circumstances but is clearly very kind. I don't mind her mannerisms, I hear others consider them creepy but I think they are just different, I just need to learn to read her. She joined the same clubs as me but it seems her real interests lie elswhere, I think I saw her carry some yarn and she always gravitates around the kitchen, I hope she enjoys the clubs too. She tries really hard to be liked, despite her problems, which takes a lot of determination, I have to respect that. I should try to learn from her, or at least I should not let her waste her efforts, I don't want to burden her with my aura as well but I should at least not make her think it's her fault.
Quirk: Wonderland Guide
I recognize a certain origin to her quirk, it's one of my favourite stories, but I don't think it classifiable as a legend. Maybe in a couple centuries it will. Anyway it seems to be her quirk that messes with her body language, things like this make me wonder if quirks have a sense of humour or something. I don't this is a blessing, it's too specific to the story, maybe quirks come from something else. Sankai seems to be suffering from the side effects but her quirk can be very useful for hero work, I am sure she will be a good hero.
Taiho Kiko
Another early addition, she has a license and apparently also had an internship already. Her personality is mostly bubbly and energetic and she managed to befriend her deskmate to a degree jus because she was in the way to her new best friend. Despite her sunny personality she becomes skittish when I am around, my aura seems to hit her harder than most, but she also looks strangely conflicted, it's probably just because she can't find the origin of the fear. She was the one to propose the outdoors club, and probably would have funded it herself if it did not become this popular, so we will have to interact more in the future. If she can't get used to it I will try the letter approach, maybe with a set of instructions she will do better, it's a very strange feeling seeing her so scared when she is normally so happy. I don't think I like it.
Quirk: Orbital field
A very science based quirk, would make little sense as a blessing. Unless planets can bless people too, but that would conflict with other blessings that are seemingly made by a god that is a planet, there cannot be both Gaia and Earth as an entity. Her quirk can be very powerful, but requires a lot of attention, at least she trained with it already.
Tsuyoi Agnelli
I was not expecting another italian here, and someone famous as well. We don't have nobility since a long time ago but I guess she missed the memo, she clearly acts more like a noble than a buisnessperson. Grandpa would bring out the theory of evolution and stuff like that to explain how she is actually my second removed half cousin on my uncle's side and that I should treat her like family, I don't plan to treat he badly but I don't think we are related, even if she does look like aunt Vita. It would be nice to have someone to talk with normally but I don't think she plans to acknowledge my existence. I would not need a letter to explain the aura to her but if it's a problem that has been bothering her it's not one she plan to solve, she seems pretty composed most of the time.
Quirk: Technokinesis? She also looks like a bird but it's unrelated apparently.
Another modern quirk, she seems to have inherited only the looks of her father instead of his full quirk. It's another quirk that would be strange as a blessing, unless there is a machine god around. It's a fitting quirk for the heir to a mechanic empire, it just confuses me why she also looks like a bird. Granpa is kinda crazy but he also did say some interesting things about quirk generics and inheritance, I should have paid more attention.
Sophia Papadopoulou
A transfer student from Greece, a very pleasant person with an unfortnate placement in the class. She also seems to have a hero in the family but doesn't have a license yet. I know a lot of legends from her homeland but I doubt she would be interested in hearing them. She joined the outdoors club, and track and field, a very active person, I see her flying around sometimes when I rest on the roof. I am glad she is a calm person normally, my aura doesn't send her into a panic at least, that's the best I can ask for at this point.
Quirk: Pegasus
A classic, someone in Grece maybe considers it a punishment, I at least have no trouble imagining a god being the source of this, I would not call it a blessing or part of a great plan like Imamu would, in this case if it was a god it was probably just for fun. We have the ability to fly in common, which means I have no reason to be her rider, I am just faster on my own. I think some of our classmates would be a good fit for that role, but I am not an expert.
My class is a mess, I was not expecting any of this when Mom said I would go to a hero school abroad. I guess it makse sense in a way, heroes are not normal people, but can you even teach that? Somehow this place is already better than my old schools, most teachers are professionals and manage to ignore my aura, and a surprising amount of classmates are at least resistant to it. The general course students still look at me like a monster for the most part so it's not a cultural thing either, my class is just full of unique individuals. I am getting used to this place, and the rest of the class seems to be getting used to my aura more or less. They all seem to have a general idea of what kind of hero they want to be, while I don't even have a name in mind yet, I need to take this seriously, I need a name too.
The investigation is inconclusive for now, but there are enough quirks with a more modern theme to them that the theory of ancient gods the temple had cannot be right. They have some right ideas, some quirks really do seem the inheritance of gods and monsters, but there is more to it, some other source. If I want answers I will need to ask someone that knows more about the science behind quirks, I need to find someone like that anyway, it's the reason I'm here in Japan in the first place. But for now I need to focus on school, I have a lot to learn about being a hero too.
