ⓘ⠀what is spideyflash?

Spideyflash, also known as peterflash, is the ship between Flash Thompson and Peter Parker. I mostly ship them in the Amazing Spider-Man comics and the Ultimate Spider-Man TV series, however they are great in all iterations! (for example The Amazing Spider-Man movies, Spider-Man #5 by Dan Slott and Mark Bagley, and many many more).

I love spideyflash because of the dramatic irony in their relationship. Flash is Spider-Man's no1 fan and is always there to back him up (some examples shown below).

I also like it because whenever they do something heartfelt towards each other, it's meaningful because of all the built up tension from previous hatred. Flash isn't a completely cruel guy, he has a heart and has done since the beginning (shown below once more).

I also love the messed up jocks trope. A lot of my favourite characters such as Flash, Alex Mullner and Jason Carver fall into this catagory. Flash experiences abuse, insecurity (about his smarts, actually! which is unfortunate as that's usually what peter bites back with) and a very rough upbringing.

as well as this, I like the internalised homophobia trope as well (and it usually goes hand-in-hand with the messed up jock). I read an amazing analysis on Flash which basically summed up how I see Flash and his sexuality. I love this mixed in with toxic masculinity, and while I believe Flash himself doesn't have too much toxic masculinity (he wears crop tops all the time) Peter definitely does, so that's just a very interesting dynamic.

THEY ARE TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN!!! is what I say A LOT when referring to these two. I think this comic (Spectacular Spider-Man Minus 1) sums it up perfectly:

Flash wants to be Peter because Peter has a generally good homelife (apart from being an orphan, but he has his aunt may and uncle ben who treat him well) while Peter wishes he could be Flash because Flash is generally much better at making friends.

despite a lot of adaptations, in the original comics, Peter only really made friends once he went to ESU (so when he was 18 or so). unless you count betty brant, but she was his girlfriend, and that was only when he was around 16.
