INFODUMP TIME a majority of orange cats are male because the orange colouring is in the X chromosone. female cats have xx while males have xy. in order for a female cat to be orange, she must inherit two copies of the gene (one from each parent) males however only need one copy to be orange. it's estimated that about 80% of orange cats are male while 20% are female!
