In This Economy!?!?!?! (Incredibly Late Edition)

(Because calling it "Pre-Season" doesn't feel right on the last day of Week 1.)

Hello! I'm Valentine, and this season I'll be helping you guys keep track of Economy! No reason not to start with looking over each team, returning ones, newcomers, and teams that aren't exactly new, but aren't Technically returning.

Returning Teams

Femboy Faygo & the BBQ Boys as well as Silent Assassins & Kaëji are looking to return to the top half of Econ. Barbeque Boys have become a beloved household name in economy, thanks to their light personalities and fun gameplay. They utilize their 8 person roster to the best of their ability, putting their best foot forward no matter what 5 players arrive to play. Silent Assassins on the other hand are coming off of a strong Season 9, even though they were booted early in playoffs, Kaëji & detectivepurpl3 have stomped their way have into Economy, to finish wat the started.

Ginyu Force is also returning! Another team that's become a fan favorite thanks to their logo, vibe, and ability to play into their theme. They're a solid team looking to make a bigger mark in the standings this season. Alongside them in that goal is Sector 7. S7 has become a veteran team of sorts in the league, having played since Season 7, and having members that have played since Season 6, like captain Shayperd, as well as S7 Sona, and S7 timotree.

Economy's returning team this year bring plenty of promise, but they're obviously not alone. Like with every season, there's a litany of newcomers who are gonna look to shake things up.

Newcomers!!

Let's start with some Newcomers that have some vaguely familiar names, players, or styles. How about Apes Strong Together Envy? Captained by resident Singed enjoyer CJB Toxic, ATS Envy is a team to watch solely for the energy around them. They're an enigma of sorts, which could make them extremely exciting to keep track of this season. Twempest Fwame may catch some eyes thanks to all 5 of their starters holding "SNC" in their name, but having no SNC to be found in their team title. But don't let that distract you, the team is a clear contender, obvious from their game on stream, and their ADC, SNC Shiraori. Menaces to Sobriety has a certain Mighty Fool in their captain slot. The beloved fool is in Economy with some friends, and are looking to be guided by their own chemistry and some ARAM games, and probably a few spur-of-the-moment ranked flex games. They'll be fun to watch nonetheless.

Economy has plenty of teams that are completely new though. LAWU is led by Captain Skillfulhitman, it's a team full of wildcards, but they could prove tough to breakdown as RestlessRoberts works as the team's glueman, filling in where needed as a player. Or how about Sub Optimal Gaming? The Economy newcomer led by Fiesty1 has an incredibly solid lineup that's accented by Mid Laner Dreemie, who: (According to Fiesty1 themselves)

  • Is devilishly handsome
  • Is extremely funny
  • Has an ego the size of the milky way (unsure if this is in reference to the chocolate or the galaxy)
  • And has an explosive playstyle.

SHSU Team White is looking to put themselves next to BYU Team B, as college teams that have claimed an LBLCS title. Especially with LSGaming growing into their role on the team, SHSU could really take over Economy. Similar goes for Headphone Warning, Jeebs95 captaining an Economy team with a high ceiling, keep an eye on Emmaface, who has been continuing to adjust and improve to the game as a whole. OgsEzPz joins Economy as another team who looks towards the middle of the map as their strong point, with niRaM's strong understanding of the game, as well as a large & expanding pool.

Now, there are a few Economy Teams that aren't one or another, so I've got a little section for team's that aren't quite returning, but calling them all newcomers would be unfair.

Those Somewhere In-Between

Now, I should note that all 4 of the teams in this section are orgs that put together entirely new teams, and no better team to start off with than Naughty Sharks. With Naughty Dogs moving up to Commercial, Xellius felt compelled to put together an Economy team, being moved by the performance of multiple members of the free agent showcase. They're my favorite this year thanks to not only the sudden cohesive they've shown, but they also have none-other than MxTi in the top lane, who has been terrorizing Economy & Commercial for multiple season now. Another tough looking team courtesy of an org is Trifarix Souls. But for difference reasons, Sammy2Slap missed his championship in a barn burner of a finals series vs. Flash For Damage. Now, he's back with an entirely new team, but as their captain, S2S could lead them, and if that wasn't enough, add another fairly experienced LBLCS Captain in Skwiwi to add onto the assorted talent of the team.

There's also Anima Academy. Anima as a group has been around since Season 6, and this season they've split into two teams. AA is based around long time friends: Odyssey, IamBattleField, and F2F Rentros. They've added Chasing Edxn, and S7 Bag00t (another vet). SNC Ethereal Midnight is an extremely interesting team. Imítheos had an excellent first series (I know it's not fair to mention that but it really was amazing), and Captain SNC Polaris let me know to keep an eye on Flatter & Akuma Ayuma. They could easily compete for the top of their group if their synergy holds up.

Well, What Now?

Thanks to me being quite late on this, most of the W1 games are done. So, what you can expect in a... few days, a recap of sorts of the Week 1 games. In-depth recaps of the ones that were streamed, and a standard armchair recap of the ones that weren't. Players to watch, tan update on standings, the whole shabang!
