Act 1 -
One night, Odile, the daughter of the demon sorcerer Rothbart, saw a young man standing pensively by the lake and fell in love with him.
The young man was Prince Siegfried, who had received an order from his mother, the Queen, on the occasion of his coming of age. He was told to to choose his bride at a forthcoming ball. The prince, who wanted to remain free, was mulling over his decision to get married, and muttering to himself by the water's edge.
"So the prince is going to choose his bride at the ball…"
Odile, who had been watching the prince from the shadows, couldn't forget what she had overheard. Eventually, Odile thought that if she could go to the ball, she could be by the prince's side forever. And so she hatched a plan...
Act 2 -
Odile, who was a demon but who had fallen in love with a human prince, begged her father, who was a demon of great power, "Father, I want to be with him. Please let me go to the ball."
In order to grant his beloved daughter's wish, Rothbart cast a spell on Odette, a princess from another country who was one of the candidates for the prince’s bride, and turned her into a swan. He then disguised Odette as Odile and had her attend the ball as the princess.
Meanwhile, Odette, who had been turned into a swan, was living in sadness among the swans on the lake. She could only return to human form for a short time each night, and in the kingdom, Odile, disguised as Odette, was living her life, so she had no place to go.
However, when Odette returned to her beautiful princess form for a moment at the lake where the swans live, Prince Siegfried, who had come to hunt at the time by chance, witnessed her.
The two were drawn to each other, and Odette began to tell the prince her true identity. In order to break the curse placed on her by the demon, she said that it was necessary for someone who had not yet pledged their love to her to do so. However, at dawn, Odette reverted to her swan form and left the prince. Later, the ball at the royal palace to choose Siegfried’s bride was finally held...
Act 3 -
Odile, dressed in a jet black dress, attended the ball as Princess Odette with Rothbart, who had disguised himself as a guest.
Prince Siegfried, who had to choose a bride, could not forget Odette, who he had met the night before. Odile, who had been transformed into Odette’s form by magic, appeared and seduced the prince, confessing her love to him. The prince, who believed Odile to be Odette, made his marriage vows on the spot. Odile, who was enjoying a brief, false romance, danced with the prince in unprecedented happiness.
Just as Odile was feeling relieved that Odette would never return to her original form after the pledge of love, she saw a sad Odette reflected in the mirror in the hall. Nearby, the demon Rothbart, who had returned to his original form, was mocking the prince. The prince, realising that he had pledged his love to a demon disguised as Odette, regretted his mistake and headed for the lake where Odette was.
Act 4 -
Odile was left behind at the ball. Her father, the demon Rothbart, laughed at Siegfried for being deceived. Odile hurried after the prince and headed to the lake, where the prince was speaking to a swan. It was Princess Odette, whom Rothbart had turned into a swan.
The prince, who regretted breaking his vow, begged for forgiveness. Odette forgave the prince, and the two, realising that they could not be together in this life, threw themselves into the cold winter lake. Odile ran to stop the prince, but the prince's body was already deep underwater.
An angel appeared in response to their love and destroyed the demon Rothbart. By a miracle, Odette regained her human form, but Odile was transformed into a strange jet black swan. Odile could only stare at Odette and Siegfried, who had been united by a miracle.
"This is the price of my deception...I can never be by the prince's side, or hold his hand."
The black swan, former daughter of a demon, writhing in agony from jealousy and heartbreak, grieves and dances madly on the frozen lake in winter, thinking of the fleeting happiness of the ball.
Aftertalk -
Otori Kokona
Yae-chan, you play two different roles! Dark Yae-chan and pure Yae-chan. Both are great!
Niizuma Yae
Thank you very much. In this Swan Lake, the focus is on the rival Odile.
Otori Kokona
She's a demon’s daughter. Yae-chan usually seems like an angel, so it's refreshing. Oh, of course, I like the usual Yae-chan too.
Niizuma Yae
Ha ha. I'm honored by your praise.
Katrina Griebel
You don't have to choose. What are you worrying about on your own?
Niizuma Yae
If you want, I'll play the one you like anytime in front of you, and show you the different roles. It'll also be good practice for playing two roles.
Otori Kokona
Eh...eeh!? You’ll do that, for me…!?
Niizuma Yae
Yes. You can order me to do whatever you like, just like when we were playing Aladdin and the Genie of the Lamp.
Otori Kokona
That's such a luxury...!!! What should I do...I can't choose~!!!
Nizuma Yae
Ha ha, as I thought, Kokona-san is so interesting. You can take your time and think about it, okay?
Kathrina Griebel
At this point, isn’t she just playing around with Kokona? As expected of a Dai Star like Niizuma...
