The Imperial Navy of Nijisanji
The Imperial Navy is the most important branch of the armed forces of the Empire of Nijisanji and it is that for a good reason. Unlike their Southern neighbors in Ninisani, which are constantly in a never seeming struggle against Schizos and themselves, the North is relatively peaceful aside from a few occasional bands of Schizos and highwaymen roaming the countryside; and petty wars between daimyos.
While the navy draws recruits from across both of the Shogunates, and uses material from both, most of the funding comes from the richer Mononobe Shogunate, as the Shoichi Shogunate refuses to fund more than port defense for its own realm. This causes the navy to operate in the interests of expansionist interests of the Mononobe clan.
The Navy is divided into 4 separate main fleets at home; The White Tiger Fleet operating out of the great port of Hyakumantenbara, the Red Dragon Fleet operating out of the ports of Nishizono and Suzuhara, and the Green Dragon Fleet operating out of the port of Mononobe. These four ports are considered the heart of the Imperial Navy, and all have great amounts of naval infrastructure, especially Suzuhara and Hyakumantenbara which both have long standing naval traditions, and shipbuilding industries that only few others in the world can rival.
Across the world, the two other main naval bases are at Antipatreia and Mechyna. At these two bases, the Blue Dragon and Yellow Serpent fleets operate from. While not as sizable as the White Tiger and Red Dragon fleets, both of these fleet are sizable enough to make most naval powers in the regions think twice before interfering in the Empire's Business aboard. They are supported by sufficient facilities on site but most of these ships have to be rotated back home every so often for refits.

The Imperial Navy prides itself on its longstanding tradition of excellence in all fields and constantly aims for superiority, both technologically and numerically. This belief comes from the pragmatic desire to protect the great wealth of the nation's merchant marine from both piracy and foreign fleets. (If someone wants to write a past conflict with me, feel free.) Indeed, both their success and failures in these wars are what the tradition is built upon. That each man does his duty for the emperor and the people of the Empire.
Currently, the Navy is one of the strongest in the world 67 Ship-of-the-Lines, 69 Frigates, 52 Corvettes, 21 Brigs, 14 Bomb Ketches and 89 Smaller craft. It is only through the great wealth that trade brings to the Empire that such an enormous fleet can be maintained and thus the Navy takes a strict policy against piracy and smuggling.
The Imperial Flagship, HIMS Invincible. Invincible was laid down in Suzuhara in 1117 and was completed in 1121. She is the first of her own class, the Invincible-class Ship-of-the-Line, armed with up to 118 guns on three decks. She displaces 5,908 tonnes, has a complement of 1,079 and can reach speeds up to 10 knots. Her armament in particular contains 32 x 36 Pounders, 34 × 24-pounder guns, 34 × 12-pounder guns, and 18 × 8-pounder guns. 3 Sister ships, Terrible, Océan, and Souverain are all planned to be built and finished in the next decade.
The Special Land Naval Forces also serve as the elite of the elite for all infantry within the Empire because of their need in operations against both foreign pirates, local ones and even foreign nations.

This navy was designed along the lines of the French Navy in 1789 before the French Revolution destroyed it. The numbers are less than real life, but it should be noted that the Royal Navy was around the same size. This may shock many of you.
By 1778 the French navy had risen to 78 ships of the line with frigates and smaller vessels which brought the total to 264. At the conclusion of the American War of Independence the French fleet could be considered as almost equal to the English fleet. Although it did not possess quite as many vessels and frigates, it was better organized than its rival, and its chiefs, officers and men had on several occasions shown their worth. France was then enabled to keep in an effective state about seventy sail of the line, the crews of which, added to those of the frigates and corvettes, formed a total of 60,000 seamen. The blows given to this force by the British Navy, towards the end of the war, were repaired with great diligence in the peace ; and to prepare young officers for the sea in preference to the land service, became a favourite object in several of the government schools.
In 1791, their naval force consisted of 73 men of war, 67 frigates, 19 cutters, 29 armed brigs, 7 gun-boats, besides several galliots, and hospital-ships ; but the war of the Revolution annihilated the navy of France. In 1793 on the outbreak of the revolutionary war, it was estimated to consist of 82 ships of the line, mostly fine vessels, and of frigates with lesser craft which brought it to a total of 250. The French Revolution resulted in the disbanding of the General Naval Staff, disorder broke out among the men and the material was allowed to deteriorate.
Because it uses the French Navy, it also uses the French system of ship classification which is as follows:
1st Rank, 100+ Guns
2nd Rank, 80 to 98 Guns
3rd Rank, 60 to 78 Guns
4th Rank: 44 to 58 Guns
5th Rank: 36 to 42 Guns
Note that a ship would almost never have an odd number of guns so while in theory, a 99 gun ship would be second rank, such ships do not exist.
Corvettes, Sloops and Brigs serve roles as coastal defense ships that can also in wartime escort convoys. They are smaller than Frigates.
The Imperial Navy benefits from the massive amounts of wealth that the C.I.O and the K.A.G bring in. Keep this in mind when you make your own navy. They also have a long naval tradition and shipbuilding industry that enables them to construct a large fleet.
A Ship of the Line usually took around 3 years to build for a nation with a naval shipbuilding tradition, and not every ship was in active service because there would always be some older ships mothballed and others in for repairs.
A Razee is a former smaller 3rd or 4th Rank that had a gun deck removed to turn it into a large frigate.
