How to use Claude 3 on Openrouter with Sillytavern
For use with "Self-Moderated" Anthropic models on Openrouter.ai
Note
This document assumes that you have already set up your OpenRouter API key in Sillytavern, and that you are using the Staging branch. For information on how to do these things, see the following pages: Page 1 - Page 2
If you just want to be lazy and not learn anything, here's a link to a json preset that you can import, set to Haiku (self-moderated) on openrouter.
Instructions:
- In Sillytavern, go to the AI Response Configuration Menu
. - In that menu, select the default preset. Then immediately click "Save Preset As..."
to create a new preset. You can name it whatever you want, I used "Claude 3 (Openrouter)" - Scroll all the way to the bottom of the AI Response Configuration Menu, and click the "New Prompt" button
- In the "Edit" screen that pops up do the following:
- Type "Prefill" in the Name field
- Switch the role to AI Assistant
- Ensure the Position is set to "Relative"
- In the Prompt field add the following:

- Click the Save Icon
- Back in the AI Response Configuration menu, choose "Prefill" in the drop down menu, then click the "Insert Prompt" button directly to the right of the drop down menu.
- Drag the prompt so that it is directly below "Chat History" in the Prompts section, and click the toggle on the right to enable it.
- Scroll back to the top of the AI Response Configuration menu and click the "Save Preset" button
- In the central top bar, go into the API Connections menu
- Set API to "Chat Completion", choose "OpenRouter" as your Chat Completion Source, and for the OpenRouter Model, choose one of the Anthropic Claude 3 models with "(self-moderated)" in the title.
- Return back to the AI Response Configuration menu and save your preset again.
