[Author's note: This story was written to satisfy my selfish fantasy of Konuri Maki, my most precious student. I hope it will inspire your love of your own studentwife as well. I will leave soundtracks throughout the story in the form of YouTube links. If you wish, you may listen to them on loop until the next one arrives to receive the full experience.]

I was lounging in the cafe at SCHALE with Yuuka after a 4-hour stretch of work, we got a lot done so we took the time to relax and watch the news. That's when we caught a glimpse of it as I was flipping through the channels.
I couldn't believe my eyes. I blinked twice, rubbed my eyes, pinched my arm. It wasn't a dream. There, on the flat TV screen at my lounge in SCHALE, was a video of Maki scaling a building and spray painting it's walls with a giant happy face. I watched in horror as she was arrested. Yuuka's blood was boiling. "Sensei! I'll deal with her. I'm not letting her off the hook easily this time..." I try to salvage the situation even as my blood ran cold. "N-no, Yuuka, just let me handle it. Please." After some begging, she sighed and gave me a stern look and said OK.
Naturally, I dropped everything I was doing and headed straight over to Valkyrie. After pulling some strings and begging to Chief Kanna on my hands and knees, along with a settlement straight from SCHALE's coffers, I managed to get Maki a light sentence: A single night in the slammer.
The next morning, when she got out, she headed to SCHALE to meet me. "Sensei... I'm sorry..." She looked sheepish and sad, kicking the floor while looking down, that look she gets when she knows she did something wrong but couldn't resist the temptation. "Konuri, it pains me to say this, but do you know how much trouble you..." She interrupts me, "Ugh... Sensei! I'm really, really sorry! It won't happen again! Jail was really awful... so grey and depressing." She bowed down at me, probably on the verge of crying, but I couldn't see her face. I patted her head, feeling bad for her. "Listen, why did you do it? We've been over this before..." She looked up at me with a pouty look, "I've been so boored, Sensei. The best spots are all illegal to graffiti on, and the canvases I can get aren't big enough to express my burning artistic passion! I just wanted to make this gloomy city a bit brighter, more colorful, y'know...".
I leaned back in my chair, thinking on the problem while Maki sat on my desk, clicking her shoes together and poking the tips of her fingers together nervously while pouting. Then, a crazy idea struck me like lightning. I recalled the abandoned ruins outside of Millenium. The area was a bit dangerous, but most of the threats have already been handled, and there's plenty of buildings Maki could use. Yeah, that could work...
"Okay... you just need to get it out of your system. Let's go on an outing." ... "Sensei? You're not mad?" "I am mad, but just being mad isn't very productive. You have a day to pack your stuff, I'll be here getting ahead of work." Her eyes light up, "Sensei! You're the best! I'll start packing right away." Maki dashed out of my office, then peeked her head back through the doorway, "Oh, where are we going anyway?" I yell back at her, "Somewhere you can work freely, bring lots of paint!"
I had to sacrifice sleep to finish everything up in time to take a whole day off. I felt awful, but I tried to put on a good face for Maki's sake. After all, I promised her.

It was early morning when Maki trotted through the doorway to my office at SCHALE. "Ya, Sensei~ Good morning! Your fashion's looking great today as well!" She raised her eyebrows twice in a winking motion. "You're looking stylish yourself, Maki. Excited?" She was wearing her usual outfit, school uniform with the bomber jacket, and I was merely wearing my suit with an overcoat, but we had this exchange so many times it had become natural.
We drive out to the edge of the ruins where my car can't go any further. "Hmm? Where are we, Sensei?" I explain as I start pulling bags out of the trunk. "It's an abandoned ruin, nobody really knows what happened here. Hasn't Momoi told you about this?" Maki pulls out a heavy bag full of spray paint cans, and throws it over her shoulder, like some graffiti Santa. "Now that you mention it... I remember her saying something about ruins and something called a G.BIBLE..."
I chuckle, reminiscing, but don't elaborate. "Anyways, nobody should bother us here. We can find a building for you to paint on, but stay close by, okay? It's isolated and dangerous. You could get lost or encounter something." I see Maki shiver, and nod her head, giving me a thumbs up. "I'll protect you if anything happens, Sensei!" ... That's not really what I meant.
I check my own bags, and pull out two umbrellas, and while Maki's not looking, I slip a gift up my sleeve for later. I then hand a bright red umbrella to Maki, and grab a transparent one for myself. "Forecast said it might rain." "Oh, nice one, Sensei!".
We finally got a chance to look around, and Maki's face brightened at the strange place. "Whoa, Sensei, this place is cool!" She spun around with her arms out, giggling. "It's a little creepy, there's cracks everywhere and the buildings are all crumbling and shattered, but..." She paused for a moment, gathering her words, "...the way the greenery is taking over the grey concrete. It's completely overgrown. It's really pretty, Sensei." It slowly dawned on her why we came all the way out here. "Wait, so you're saying... I can use ANY of these buildings, Sensei?!" I nod at her, and her face turned incredulous with excitement.
We started our journey through the abandoned city, chatting, laughing, seeking out the perfect building. Sure enough, it started to rain. Maki had brought her handheld game console and showed me a bunch of stuff on it. One moment, she showed me a cool combo she had mastered in a video game. The next, a castle build in a block building game. Then she showed me some of her most recent artworks. Then she showed me some footage of a really hard boss fight she completed in a JRPG. We scrunched close together as we walked like a three-legged race, shielding the screen with our umbrellas.
She saw it first. I glanced over and noticed she stopped dead in her tracks, with an awe-struck look on her face. When I followed her gaze, I understood why. On a large hill up ahead, was a large, tower-like structure, concrete, with flat empty walls, surrounded by wildflowers and overgrown plants. The clouds circled it like a celestial guide, beckoning us towards it. The rain began to let up at the same time. In an instant, Maki started to rush for the hill. "M-Maki, wait! I can't keep up with your stamina!" She couldn't hear me, as she dashed forward and started to climb the hill. I tried to keep up in vain. Halfway up the hill, she tripped and almost fell down, but grabbed the floor, clenching dirt with her fingers and kept climbing.
By the time I made it to the base of the hill, she was already at the top, possessed by a seemingly infinite energy. I stumbled and fell on my ass pathetically, then looked up panting. I saw her at the top of the hill, and what I saw took my breath away.

For a moment, as I looked up, my eyes widening, I had a flashback of a certain anime from a long time ago. It was a mecha anime about the indomitable human spirit driven by evolution, irrational perseverance and the refusal to accept artificial limits. It was a show that made a heavy impression on me as a kid, but slowly faded into memory as the mundane reality of school and work set in, filling my days with doom and gloom and boredom. In the real world, there were no heroes like that. No great stories, no lofty tales.
Yet, that's how Maki appeared to me as she slowly held up a bright red spray paint can high up towards the sky, piercing the heavens like a drill, with a bright smile on her face, striking a triumphant pose. I could even catch a glimpse of her silly pink tongue sticking out as the wind tickled her hairbuns and bangs. The clouds began to clear quicky, circling around her halo, the rain dispersing as the sun moved to sit directly overhead. In that moment, she wore the heavens like a crown.
"Sorry, Sensei! But this place is perfect, I couldn't help myself, ahaha!" She yelled down at me from afar. I sat in awe, for a few moments, or a few minutes, or a few hours. I couldn't tell. Time seemed to slow down as the cool wind whipped at her hair.
I started to climb again in a daze, catching up to her in what seemed like an eternity, and rushed up to her out of breath. "K-konuri, look at your hands. They're all dirty." I pulled a water bottle and rag out of my bag, grabbed her hands, and tried to wash the dirt off. "S-sensei..." She looked embarrassed as I rubbed her hands clean. "I'm sorry... but this place is perfect. I couldn't wait a single moment".
We caught our breaths. "Now, a show, just for you, Sensei!". She dropped the bag full of paint cans, unzipped it, and started laying out her materials. Then she got to work. I sat for hours (asking the flowers), no, watching Maki work her magic. The way She moved across the wall, no, the canvas was breathtaking. Her arms moved in graceful arcs and straight lines. She swapped out colors masterfully. Her face was a maelstrom of emotion, one minute frozen in concentration, the next smiling and struggling to contain her joy. She kept backing up, then closing in on the wall in a flowy rhythm. "First, the Veritas logo." She whispered as she completed the first side of the wall, claiming this building for her precious club. By the time she finished up, a rainbow had appeared following the letting up of the rain.
Then came the second wall. "It's lonely out here, so why don't we draw some cute animals, Sensei?" We? She pulled my arm and dragged me into the fray this time around, and shoved a can into my hand. "Maki, I'm a terrible artist..." She shook her head, "This one's a duet, Sensei. Just draw from the heart!" I felt hesitant, but didn't want to disappoint. She got to work, drawing various creatures, cats, dogs, Peroro, a dragon, a... stoat? And a garden of colorful flowers for them to live in. For me it was, well, I tried sketching Saikyo Ikkaku Raion... "Ahaha, what the heck is that, Sensei?" "...It's a lion."
When we came to the third wall, the sleep deprivation was really catching up to me. I dozed off, struggling to keep my eyes open. I watched as she stared thoughtfully at the new, blank wall, rubbing her chin and squinting hard.
"Sensei, feel free to take a nap. This one's gonna take a while." She told me. "No, it's dangerous out here, I can't just dose off and leave you alone." I tried to protest, but to no avail; Maki isn't having it, and my body isn't either. "It's fine, it's fine, Sensei! I brought Auto-Lacquer. Nothing could beat me out here." She trotted over to her bag, and pulled out a pillow. Then started fluffing it front of my face with a smug grin and that look. "Fine. Only a short one.".
I laid my head down on the side, and watched Maki gather her materials and lay down those first few lines of spraypaint. The sun's warm rays lulled me quickly into a deeper sleep than I anticipated.
It was a deep, black sleep, where no light or color would penetrate.
When I opened my eyes, Maki was sitting over me, looking down at my face. "...Konuri?" Her stony expression exploded into a hot red blushing mess. She covered and face quickly stammered "G-good morning, Sensei! I mean, I hope you had a good nap." I sat up still slightly groggy.
"It's finished, Sensei. This one's for you." She grabbed my hand and pulled me up, forward. "Maki?!" "Just look!" What I saw left my mouth agape. She then pulled away, stepped to the side, covering her face, blushing even harder now. "...It just came to me, while I was watching your sleeping face. Hehe."
She slowly stepped back, one, two steps, then held out her arm and hand in a gun-like posture, and said,
"BANG! Straight through your heart, Sensei!", with a wide crooked smile, trying to hold back her embarrassment.
On the wall were painted three words in bright, rainbowy colors: "I. LOVE. YOU."

[WARNING: ULTRA-CRINGE AHEAD]
Without thinking, I rushed up to Maki in an instant, and embraced her. "E-eh?! Sensei??" She bleated out, conquering new candy red colors with her blush.
"Maki! MAKI!" "S-sensei! You're calling me Maki again..." "And I'll say it a thousand times." As I held her, under the shadow of her love-given-form, my heart wouldn't stop beating. I decided to stop playing the role of mature, put-together Sensei with barriers up.
"Maki. Konuri Maki." "Y-yes, Sensei?" She looked up at me, we locked eyes. "I love you, too." My hand traced the side of her arm as I knelt down. My hand slipped up my sleeve as I pulled out a little trick I had prepared for this special occasion, in remembrance of a certain Gentleman Thief. Always wanted to try it, never got the chance. Until now.
"I don't have anything to offer you yet. I don't even have a ring. Just my pathetic self. But..." ... I make a silly poof face, and conjure a bright red rose out of my sleeve. I had been hiding it, and didn't notice that I had drew some blood, staining the stem. I then slipped a small bundle of fabric between my thumbs, and slowly unravelled it, surprising Maki, the bundle turned into a string of tiny flags of all the schools in Kivotos, SCHALE's logo on my end, Millenium's flag on her end, threaded together by a thin red cord. I passed it into her dirt-and-paint-stained hands. Those gentle, soft hands of hers... I made the most serious face I was capable of, and then....
"To my beloved princess, with no equal across all Kivotos. You've stolen my heart like a thief in the night. Please, Konuri Maki... will you marry me?"
She looked like she would faint on the spot. She tried to pull away, but I held on tightly, not letting her go. "S-sensei, we can't, that's forbidden between a Sensei and his student!"
I reached up and gripped her hands tightly. "Maki! Tell me how you really feel!"
...
"Yes."
