NOTE: I currently recommend using my Personal Setup as this is outdated both in features and in dictionaries

  1. Download Anki here
    • Tested and currently using: 2.1.64 Qt6
    • If you want to use older version: 2.1.49
  2. Here's my Anki Deck and Add-ons
    • Only choose between Simple and Modern Anki Deck
    • To toggle Light/Dark Mode: Tools > Preferences > User Interface > Theme
  • (Optional) Install Fonts (used in my anki and yomichan)
    • Download Font.7z then extract
    • Install all font from To install and To collection.media folder
    • Transfer all the files from To collection.media folder to C:\Users\**YourUser**\AppData\Roaming\Anki2\**YourAnkiName**\collection.media (So that mobile anki can use it)
  1. Download addon21 here
    • Extract and Paste it to C:\Users\**YourUser**\AppData\Roaming\Anki2
    • Restart your Anki

Here's the list of my Anki add-ons:

  • To access this page: Ctrl + Shift + A or Tools > Add-ons
  • Add-ons quick tips:
    • Select your deck then Shift + click on Stats for more info
    • On the menu bar > Tools for Kanji Grid | AJT tab for AJT Mortician (Optional)
    • (Optional) Sort by word Frequency, either through AutoReorder(Config) or Advanced Browser manually (see usage for more info)
  1. After downloading Mining Deck open/import it to add it into Anki
    • Tip: Just use again (1) or good (spacebar or 3) button when doing the deck so you don't have to think about if its easy (2) or hard (4)
  2. Copy this settings(turn on v3 scheduler); I recommend using AJT Mortician so you get the shortest anki time possible (by burying card to next day if again button 3-5x)
    • Shift + Click your deck's option to see this window
    • Lapses > Leech Threshold > 4-6 is good
    • Refer here for more info about adjustments/retention
  3. Here's how to Mine
    • You'll be able to do this after following Yomichan and ShareX guide below

  • Mouse Hover Dictionary
  • Used for mining to Anki
  • My profile has Bilingual/Monolingual/Phone(for VN and LN) profiles and adapts automatically with my Anki format
  • Here's a sample for Bilingual and Monolingual
  1. Go to edge://extensions or chrome://extensions (not needed for firefox)
  2. Make sure Allow access to file URLs is enabled in Yomichan extension
  3. Download my yomichan dictionary then extract the 7z (don't extract the dicts itself after the first extraction)
  • (Optional) Install Fonts (used in my anki and yomichan)
    • Download Font.7z then extract
    • Install all font from To install and To collection.media folder
    • Transfer all the files from To collection.media folder to C:\Users\**YourUser**\AppData\Roaming\Anki2\**YourAnkiName**\collection.media (So that mobile anki can use it)
  1. Yomichan Settings > Dictionary > Import everything (dicts first, before my yomichan settings below)
  2. Download my yomichan custom settings (Bilingual and Monolingual included within separate profiles)
  3. Yomichan Extension settings(make sure advanced settings is checked) > Import Settings > Import my file (Don’t sanitize as my customize will be gone)
  4. Follow this order (this is automatic when you import my settings AFTER importing dictionaries)
    • Bilingual follow the photo
    • Monolingual enable everything
  5. Turn on Yomichan Extension
  6. You can now hover to any Japanese characters in your browser
    • Bilingual is default, you can hold alt to use the Monolingual profile
    • Swap profile priority in yomichan settings > Configure profiles... if you want the other way around
    • If you want mouse button hotkey for one handed mining see ShareX's OPTIONAL portion below

  • To use Light Mode: Yomichan Settings > Appearance > Theme > Body > Light
  1. If it still doesn't work to mine, make sure:
    • You have my addons specifically AnkiConnect
    • You have my Mining Deck Imported
    • You have your Anki opened along with Yomichan
    • Yomichan settings > Anki > Configure Anki Card Format has Deck as Mining Deck and Model as Mining Format (retoggle it; make sure to recopy the code format)
Optional: Yomichan Extra Dictionary

I focused on keeping it simple and uncluttered, but if you want a more detailed format; as in a definition page:

  1. Grammar Dictionary
    • Either choose DoJG (Beginner) or Nihongo Kyoshi (Intermediate+)
  2. Orthographic Variant Dictionary - Download here on JMDict Forms
Optional: Yomichan Local Audio Source

Note:

  1. Download everything from torrent or magnet link: local-yomichan-audio-collection-2023-06-11-opus.tar.xz file
    • If you are using AnkiMobile on iOS, Android 4(very old) or AnkiWeb: torrent or magnet link local-yomichan-audio-collection-2023-06-11-mp3.tar.xz file
  2. Within Anki: either Ctrl + Shift + A or Tools > Add-ons > Get Add-ons... > 1045800357 > restart Anki
  3. Extract local-yomichan-audio-collection and paste the user_files folder to:
    • On Add-ons window > select the Local Audio Server for Yomichan > View Files
    • Or C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\Anki2\addons21\1045800357
  4. My local-audio yomichan settings
    OR if you are not using my profile:
    • Go to yomichan settings > Audio > Configure audio playback sources... > Add > Custom URL (JSON)
    • Paste http://localhost:5050/?term={term}&reading={reading} and make sure it's on the top
  5. To assure it works: Tools > Local Audio Server > Get number of entries per source > and this should be the result
  6. It should now work with no delay compared to online

  • For easier screenshotting/audio recording for pasting to Anki fields
  1. Download my ShareX settings
  2. Application Settings > Settings > Import
    • Ignore the random name files, its just a leftover for when I'm exporting my ShareX settings and can't be removed upon export, actual files is not present, just delete it if you like
  3. Hotkey Settings > Change the keybinds/name if you like
  4. Hotkey Settings > screenshot, screenshot snip, screenshot nsfw, screenshot nsfw snip and audio > override screenshot folder > change the path for each one
    • %ApplicationData%\Anki2\**YourAnkiProfileName**\collection.media
    • screenshot and screenshot nsfw: Captures your whole main screen
      • If you want to edit which monitor: Hotkey settings > screenshot > Capture > Select region...
    • screenshot snip and screenshot nsfw snip: Captures the region that you specify, similar to cropping
    • OCR (manga_ocr) is used in Manga OCR while OCR is your default ShareX OCR
  5. For audio; Hotkey settings > audio > screen recorder > screen recorder options
    • Install recorder devices
    • Video source: none
    • Audio source: virtual-audio-capturer

Optional: Mouse hotkey for one-handed mining, download Autohotkey

- Forward Mouse button = ALT for monolingual pop-up

  1. Open the Textractor folder > x86 (99% of the time x86 is better) > Textractor
    • You can also create a shortcut of it or pin it to your taskbar
  2. Open Textractor and check Extensions, if something is missing from my list, you can drag it from the folder into the extension window
  3. Open your Visual Novel then on your Textractor > Attach to game > Find your Visual Novel (sometimes it is named engine, not actual VN name e.g. SiglusEngine)
    • It should look like this after attaching
  4. On your Visual Novel, play it so it can generate the text from the game, after 1-2 dialogues, check back on your Texthooker and find a suitable hooked text from the drop-down menu
    • Some VNs is hard to hook, messed and/or missing text, on which case you need to manually find a hook(here's a video guide) or search the internet for one (e.g. Riddle Joker hookcode) then add hook > save hook
    • Some VNs problem is the version itself, you'll be safe using JP only version rather than steam/multi-language versions
    • When all text is present but there is unnecessary unwanted text, you need to use regex filter which is usually the 2nd tab of Textractor
    • For regex you need some techy knowledge or search around for a specific VN
  5. If its working properly it should look like this:
  6. It is now texthooking, proceed to Clipboard Inserter to make use of the text and use yomichan on it

Requirements:

  1. Download AnkiConnect Android from here, click Assets then choose the one with .apk and install
  2. On yomichan settings > Profile > Change Default and Editing profile to Kiwi for Phone; then skip step 2-4
    OR if you are not using my profile:
    • Go to yomichan settings > turn on Advanced (landscape to show on other devices, check the step below first if you can't find it)
    • Look Configure custom text replacement patterns under Translation
    • Add a new pattern by copying all of this (to scan words accurately)
  3. On kiwi browser, 。。。 dropdown, scroll down and select yomichan and go to settings
  4. On audio > configure audio playback sources...
    - replace it with http://localhost:8765/?term={term}&reading={reading}
  5. You should now be able to mine anywhere

Requirements:

  1. Within Anki on PC: Tools > Local Audio Server > Generate Android database
    • This would take 30mins+ (Anki will be unuseable but you can mine)
  2. Within Anki on PC: either Ctrl + Shift + A or Tools > Add-ons > select Local Audio Server for Yomichan > View Files
    • There will be a file named android or android.db
  3. On your phone, open AnkiConnect Android > Settings > Print Local Audio Directory
    • This will show you the path as well as generate the folder
  4. On that location from 3rd step, usually: Android/data/com.kamwithk.ankiconnectandroid/files/
    • Paste the android file ON files folder from PC (2nd step)
    • The result should be: Android/data/com.kamwithk.ankiconnectandroid/files/android.db
  5. My local-audio yomichan settings' profile: Kiwi for Phone (LN & Manga)
    OR if you are not using my profile:
    • Go to yomichan settings > Audio > Configure audio playback sources... > Add > Custom URL (JSON)
    • Paste http://localhost:8765/localaudio/get/?term={term}&reading={reading} and make sure it's on the top
  6. To ensure its working, check that all sources are present
    • If it doesn't work, make sure AnkiConnect Android Start Service is running
    • Battery saving/optimization is off for AnkiConnect Android, Ankidroid and Kiwi Browser

  • CDisplay is the manga reader that I use for PC
  1. Download python from here
    • Then choose Windows/mac INSTALLER (64-bit) and install
    • Check Add Python to Path
  2. Open command prompt by winkey/search > cmd
  3. Type pip3 install manga-ocr
    • Then just let it download/install for a few mins until its done and you can type again
    • If pip3 is not recognized... then just uninstall > restart > install Python repeatedly (I know its dumb but that's how)
  4. Type manga_ocr or manga_ocr "\path\to\sharex\screenshot\folder"(OCR from a folder only) to start the program, then just minimize the window
    • Change hotkey settings too: After Capture: Save image to file and Override screenshot folder > %ApplicationData%\Anki2\**YourAnkiProfileName**\collection.media like this
    • If you want an openable program see: Optional A
  5. Capture anything using Shift + Alt + Q from ShareX Hotkey
    • Make sure Yomichan Search window is opened
    • You can edit it by opening ShareX > Hotkey Settings > OCR (manga_ocr)
    • You can use mouse button, go below for Optional B

  1. Right click in an empty space in your desktop > new > shortcut
  2. Type the location of the item as:
    • Default: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k manga_ocr
    • OCR only from specific folder: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k manga_ocr "\path\to\the\screenshot\folder"
      • For example: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k manga_ocr "F:\Pictures\OCR Picture"
      • Change ShareX hotkey settings too: After Capture: Save image to file and Override screenshot folder then put "\path\to\the\screenshot\folder"
    • Next then choose your name and done
  3. Right click > Properties > Run > Minimized Window
Optional B: Scan using mouse button
  1. Download and install AutoHotkey
  2. Download my AHK script then run it
  3. Use mouse5 or forward button to use it
    • Leave Shift + Alt + Q hotkey from ShareX as it is
    • You can edit the hotkey by editing the script if you like

Alternative: stegatxins' My Mining Setup Capture2Text Guide (It is inferior)

NOTE: Since this is trained in manga data, if you are using it in game lines, it is better to scan per sentence than a whole paragraph

  3. Open command prompt by winkey/search > cmd
  4. Type pip install git+https://github.com/ZXY101/mokuro.git@master
    • Then just let it download/install for a few mins until its done and you can type again
    • If pip3 is not recognized... then just uninstall > restart > install Python repeatedly (I know its dumb but that's how)
  5. Optional -- to use GPU CUDA
    • Check if your GPU is CUDA compatible
    • Download CUDA package here
    • Type pip3 install torch torchvision torchaudio --extra-index-url https://download.pytorch.org/whl/cu117 in cmd or go here for updated version
    • To check if its existing, type python > import torch > torch.cuda.is_available()
    • If it redirects you to Microsoft Store: Open Windows Powershell > input Remove-Item $env:USERPROFILE\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\python*.exe > enter
    • If problem occurs reinstall pytorch by pip uninstall torch twice then redo the step above and update to the latest if its after CUDA 11.7, if still failed, go here
  6. Two options to Process:
    Specified Manga volume: Type mokuro F:\Manga\Saenai\Vol3 (Replace full directory, Saenai and volume #)
    All Manga volumes: Type mokuro --parent_dir F:\Manga\Saenai (Replace full directory, Saenai with your manga name)
    • Your vol1, 2, 3, etc. should be inside Saenai folder in ascending uniform named order
  7. Once finished, go to the directory, open the .html file, and then you can read (ocr folder is optional but recommended to keep)
  8. To be able to mine on android make sure you have:
Troubleshooting for android
  1. Go to Kiwi's 。。。 option > Extension > Yomichan 'Details'
    • Check Allow access to file URLs
  2. Type this URL into Kiwi: file:///sdcard/
    • Navigate to the .html file
Android 11+ Solution

Ways to transfer:
- Via PC
- File browser that can access Android > data folder
- Or use this MiXplorer (open source)

  1. Download and Install Local File Server Android
  2. Transfer your processed manga in ~/Android/data/com.rayrtheii.localfileserver/files/
  3. Open Local File Server Android and Start Service
  4. On your Kiwi Browser, go to http://localhost:8976/browse and go to your manga

ALTERNATIVE

  1. Go to: ~/Android/data/com.kiwibrowser.browser/files/Download
  2. Put your manga files including ocr and .html files (ocr is optional but recommended to keep)
    • If the files came from your android to transfer to data folder, only copy, not cut, it will not paste
  3. In your Kiwi Browser simply navigate to: file:///sdcard/Android/data/com.kiwibrowser.browser/files/Download/ and open the .html file
  • If it searched instead of going to the file:
    • Copy this: file:///sdcard/Android/data/com.kiwibrowser.browser/files/Download/
    • Tap on the address box to enter the link, but do NOT enter/paste any text in
    • Tap on Link you Copied

Requirements:

  1. Install both custom Ankiconnect Android and Local File Server Android from here
    • Make sure to delete the official Ankiconnect Android before installing this custom one
  2. Transfer your processed manga in ~/Android/data/com.rayrtheii.localfileserver/files/
  3. In your Ankiconnect Android, go to settings and set the CORS Host to http://localhost:8976
  4. Start the service for both Ankiconnect Android and Local File Server Android
  5. On your Kiwi Browser, go to http://localhost:8976/browse and go to your manga
  6. Go to the settings > advanced settings then copy this:
    • Uncheck the show page number so it doesn't get included on mining
    • Export your settings as every time you have new manga/volume you need to re-import the settings
  7. This is how you mine, by doing the usual + and tapping the ● blue icon

Requirements:

NOTE: You DON'T NEED to have the VN to be on steam or it being a steam game, it is why we set it to Desktop mode in step 3 making it like Teamviewer, which means you can use this for other purpose too, not just VN.

  1. Open your Steam Settings > Controller > Desktop configuration (you must have your steam link opened in your phone)
  2. Customize your M1-M8 with whatever keybinds you like for your mining or whatever like ShareX e.g. alt + shift + C
  3. Open Steam Link > Settings > Streaming > 2nd page > Launch Mode > Desktop (to disable Big Picture)
  4. Use Steam link > shake your phone(if icon is not there) > open the top left icon > Touch Controller ENABLED > Layout Controls > add your macros wherever, erase controller buttons as you won't need them
  5. Use Mouse Trackpad not direct cursor (or you can't switch monitor)
  6. Launch your VN

Make sure Big Picture is disabled and that you launch your VN out of steam or else, you'll have a problem with controller layout when the steam recognized it as a game

How to mine:

  1. Drag your mouse out of your screen to where your 2nd monitor is (or use alt tab macro)
  2. TAP your screen to switch monitor
  3. Add Yomichan word like usual
  4. Use the macros that you've set for screenshot/audio (ShareX)
  • Macros on my Steam Link
  • Yomichan on my phone

ShareX for easy screenshot using macro, assuming both your game and texthooker is on full screen in 2 monitors

  1. Hotkey settings > Task: Capture pre configured region
  2. Capture > Select Region > Select your monitor where your VN is

My Yomichan settings so you don't go blind on smaller screen

  • Download Texthooker Page then rename for this specific use only e.g. TexthookerPhone.html
  • My yomichan custom settings already has a Phone (VN) profile, all you need to follow is step 3 and 4 (unless you want to customize it)
  1. In PC yomichan settings > Profile > Configure Profiles... > Duplicate
    • Make sure the Editing profile is on the duplicated profile
  2. Configure Profile > Edit conditions > IF URL > Matches RegExp
  3. Put your texthooker page location by copying URL (e.g. file:///E:/TexthookerPhone.html)
  4. In yomichan settings > Position & Size > Width: 768, Height: 468 > Scale: 110%
  5. Zoom in(Ctrl + Scroll wheel) the texthooker page into 150%

Yes you can combine your normal texthooker and 2nd(phone) texthooker, just make sure you refresh the page every time you switch between them, and pause the timer of the unused texthooker page

Quick tips before:
- Consistency and pay attention are the secret, no actual other cheat
- Don't compare yourself to others, don't give up, don't listen to quick success in x time
- Just do it, many others spend more time figuring out than actually doing, you will never be ready if you never do it
- Time/Number listed is not strict, even if it takes you x10 longer or lesser day/minimum of what I listed, its only average
- No, you are not stupid/too old, if you can learn your native, you can learn other language, even parrots learned

  1. Learn Kana; Hiragana(first) and Katakana(second)
    • Do 15 new Kana/day
    • Skip worksheets and long paragraphs details and go straight to the guide
    • Just do the Kana Quiz each time you learn +5 kana and put a gap between reviews, e.g. 15mins/30mins/1hr/8hrs
    • This should take at most, a week
  2. Download Anki and my Anki add-ons
    • Extract the Anki add-ons and Paste it to C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\Anki2
    • Restart your Anki
  3. Download (Modern) Core 2.3k Deck open it then copy this settings (Shift + Click your deck's 'option' to see this window)
    • Tip: Just use again (1) or good (spacebar or 3) button when doing the deck so you don't have to think about if its easy (2) or hard (4)
  4. Do the Core 2.3k deck, start with 10 new cards/day(30 max; don't overdo it) along with the grammar guide below;
    • Kanji is here on the deck; learn vocab not isolated kanji is the motto
  5. Either Tae Kim Text Grammar Guide or Cure Dolly's Video Grammar Guide (First 30 videos only)
    • No, you do not need to perfect the quizzes, you can even skip it
    • What's important is digest the material properly or get a glimpse of it which you will look back on hundreds of times anyways
  6. Once you've finished grammar guide and at least done 1k-1.5k cards, you can now start mining and do actual immersion early on
    • This should take 2-4 months depending on your effort to be able to start immersing
  7. While immersing you can quickly check grammar points from DoJG(Beginner) and Nihongokyoshi(Intermediate+)
    • Read/watch what you like, but only up to medium difficulty, or 4-5/10 on jpdb, its going to be a real pain at first, but do it
  8. Go to Lazy Mining Guide I made for easy setup of latest mining tools for whatever media
    • Mining - is the act of creating cards from media you immerse on like VN/LN, my tools provide a single-click mining

(This is entirely my opinion)
Note: Whenever you are making these changes, please observe for a few weeks before tweaking for more

Mining (These are mostly beginners' pointers)

  1. Make sure you only mine i+1 aka only 1 unknown kanji in the vocab or in the sentence it came from, that it should all makes sense but that 1 unknown
  2. Try avoiding rare words/very specific vocab words(e.g. fantasy settings, if you know you won't read it again)
  3. Usually, you can rep with just yomichan in the very common vocabs, try avoiding mining that, unless it took you ages and you still confuse it

Anki Settings

  1. If you're already using my settings, you can also try microstep modified v2 or microstep modified v1
    • Shift + Click 'options' on your deck to get this window
  2. Lapse, make your leech threshold down into 4-6 and suspend card instead of tag only
  3. Use micro steps, my microstep modified v2 has it, it eases recognizing new cards
  4. (Worse case scenario) Decrease your new cards, usually by 3-5 then observe for a few weeks

General

  • Custom Study > Review forgotten cards > 1 day only
    • I'd recommend doing your anki first thing in the morning, then doing this at night
    • It's good as it only takes less than 5 minutes since there's no step
  • You are actually honest; if you forgot, you forgot, it will be better in long term

Anki Settings to touch if above fails

  • Change New Cards > Starting Ease decrease to 30-50% each time then observe
  • Change Reviews > Interval Modifier by 10% plus or minus(lowest 90%) depending on your retention

Anki Custom Algorithm: FSRS (I'm still experimenting myself - so your own risk)

  1. Make sure you have at least 3-6 months of stable anki data as this algorithm analyses your memory
    • Creator mentions a difference of 12.6% compared to threshold and 18.1% against anki
  2. Its a little bit techy so here's a full guide

Immersion Data Spreadsheet(Clean; up to 2035) | Immersion Data Spreadsheet(Sample; don't copy)

  • To copy open the spreadsheet then File > Make a Copy
  • To use other Sheets go to View > Hidden Sheets
    • You can also hide any sheet to look clean as long as you don't delete them
  • Extensions > Add-ons > Get Add-ons > Bulk Sheet Manager (Good for bulk hiding/unhiding sheets)
  • For existing users updating to 2035 sheet, there is 2 ways to update:
    • I recommend just copy pasting your data like this by copying the updated sheet, and replacing all the months with yours
    • (This will take a LOT of time) OR copy and replace Overall, Graph Tracker, Formula and Template Sheets (View > Hidden Sheets) and make 2023-2035 sheets of each month e.g. Jun-2024 (Format: Mon-YEAR)
  • You can update it yourself after the latest year by just duplicating Template sheet(on Hidden Sheets), into 12 months of that year, e.g. Jan-2023 (make sure its 3 letter per month with capital on the first letter, Mon-YYYY), then update formula in Overall and Graph Tracker sheet by adding the additional year on top of previous year
    • Google Sheet limit is currently 200, the Immersion Data Spreadsheet is currently at 184 of up to year 2035

Hybrid setup of Aquafina's JP Mining Note, my Anki add-ons and yomichan
Tested and currently using Anki 2.1.64 Qt6 (Please don't use Qt5)

Format: Anki | Yomichan

  1. Get my addon21 (This is different from lazy guide)
    • Extract and Paste it to C:\Users\**YourUser**\AppData\Roaming\Anki2
    • Restart your Anki
    • Make sure to have Anki opened throughout the process
  2. (Optional) Install my Fonts (for yomichan)
  3. In Anki: Tools > JPMN Manager > Install jp-mining-note
    • Ctrl + Shift + A or Tools > Add-ons > Check for add-ons update (important for JPMN Manager)
  4. Go to: C:\Users\**YourUser**\AppData\Roaming\Anki2\**YourAnkiName**\collection.media
    • Search _jpmn-options
    • Edit and save this config
  5. In Anki: Browse > on the left side under Note Type > JP Mining Note > Card... > Styling > Scroll down to the bottom
    • Paste this AFTER the INSERT CUSTOM CSS BELOW line

Fresh Hybrid Setup

For people starting from scratch

NOTE: Make sure you have done the steps on Personal Setup first before Fresh or Transfer

  1. Copy this settings(turn on v3 scheduler)
  2. Follow the Yomichan Guide with yomichan dictionaries and settings coming from here (different from lazy guide)
    • Skip the (optional) font and step 7
  3. Done. You can follow the rest of the Lazy Guide normally after Yomichan

Transfer Lazy Layout to JPMN

If you've been using my Anki Layout and want to transfer to JPMN
Add-ons required: AJT Japanese and JPMN Manager already included in add-ons
- In Anki: Ctrl + Shift + A or Tools > Add-ons > Check for add-ons update (Important for JPMN Manager)

NOTE: Make sure you have done the steps on Personal Setup first before Fresh or Transfer

  1. Make a complete backup of your deck
    • In Anki, click the cog icon of your Mining Deck
    • Export the deck and check everything (media, scheduling, older version compatibility)
  2. In Anki go to Browse, then select Mining Deck and Select all the cards or Ctrl + A
  3. Right Click > Notes > Change Note Type... > JP Mining note
  4. Follow this image:
  5. On Anki: Browse > Under Decks, click JP Mining Note > select everything or Ctrl + A
    • On Toolbar: Notes > Find and Replace
      • Find: <strong>(?P<t>.*?)</strong>
      • Replace With: <b>$t</b>
      • In: Sentence
      • Selected notes only: Checked
      • Ignore case: Unchecked
      • Treat input as a regular expression: Checked
    • Apply it
  6. Again, select all the cards then on top left toolbar: Edit > AJT Bulk Generate then wait
  7. Tools > JPMN Manager > Run Batch Command > Enter set_pasilence_field and done
  8. Switch to my Personal Yomichan Dictionary and Settings
    • Yes, you have to reimport ALL the yomichan dicts and settings
      • Better Mono and updated dicts that isn't currently compatible on my Lazy Format
      • Yomichan settings > Security > Reset Settings (so you don't have to suffer deleting the dicts)
Monolingual Cards Transfer

This is needed for people that used my Monolingual format or you won't have definitions on JPMN

  1. Download and Install Git and Python
    • For Python: Check Add Python to Path
  2. Make a new profile and import the old Mining Deck (The backup)
  3. Open CMD (Command Line)
  4. Run the following commands (don't type yes when prompted):
    • git clone https://github.com/Aquafina-water-bottle/jp-mining-note.git
    • cd jp-mining-note/tools
    • python batch.py -f combine_backup_xelieu
    • Go back to your main profile in Anki
    • In command line, type yes
  5. Done

Here's the features of my Anki from this video(Monolingual sample)

  • 1:39 If-else condition {Selected-Text} - If you use this function, it will instead show in glossary and not the default auto-clean JMDict one(it still exists, just not used), no edit needed
  • 0:23 {sentence} with purple colored highlight
  • 2:10 Hoverable kanjis (thanks to @Marv#5144 for idea)
  • Colored purple kanji IN sentence for previous cards that doesn't have underlined yomi pasted (thanks to marv's script)
  • 0:52 NSFW auto-tag to blur images (thanks to marv, also marv modified shareX screenshot hotkey from My Mining Setup to put a NSFW tag note)
  • If vocab is furigana; automatically show sentence as hint on the front
  • Pitch accent graph auto adapts to light or dark mode
  • Sort by word Frequency, see usage for more info

  • If 1st glossary(monolingual dict) is empty; 2nd is shown, if empty, 3rd is shown and so on (6 dicts backup total)
  • Dropdown field is Shinmeikei and JMDict(for english) for supplemental info which is clickable and is always available

Yomichan Features

To switch to my Anki format from your existing deck, its easy if you already have the AnimeCards, just literally transfer it, I only added new fields, not change. As for other decks, just try to match all the fields with my deck, and it should also be cool.

  • You must redownload the file and only replace the user_files folder then Tools > Local Audio Sever > Regenerate Database
  • For android you must regenerate the database again and paste, and update AnkiConnect Android
