Nayuki hails from a family of mountain-dwelling parents, preferring to live away from others in a small cabin in the woods, and only coming down to get work. While her parents are not mutants, they suffer from a powerful case of shyness and social anxiety, making them freeze and be very stressed, her father if he is not wearing his cold suit, and her mother if she is not transformed, because of this, they somehow got licenses to use their quirks because of their nerve wreck status without them,

Her father has the power to produce fluffy snow and ice, but he needs to be cooled down for his quirk to work, and he is very shy about having his body exposed or seen by others, because of it and how his quirk works, he uses a suit filled with ice and snow to keep his body out of other’s view and to keep himself cooled.

Kyoko’s mother can transform into a powerful hairy mammalian creature (big foot), but she is very nervous if she is not in her big foot form, forcing her to freeze and be unresponsive, which makes her only work in society if in her big foot form, however, she cannot speak in that form.

Both her mother and father work selling ice cream, which her mother is the mascot of. Somehow they met and managed to court each other in an event rarer than pandas mating because of their natural shyness, which led to Kyoko’s birth.

Because of the region and situation they live in, and her parent’s crippling social anxiety, they got a license to use their quirks for their work, making it easy to get money. However, they subside mostly on scavenging and hunting animals, retreating to their part of the mountain when a sword-wielding vengeful ghost appears on some nights.

Kyoko is a shy girl, deadly so. She freezes up in any social interaction if not in her yeti form, and often has her speech halted and stunted when near people she does not know, unable to interact without the usage of her quirk to become a yeti.

She went for Shiketsu’s test on a fluke, losing her way in the city and not finding her family’s ice cream car. She was too shy to say she shouldn’t be there and took the test out of social anxiety and stress. She failed the writing test because she froze due to the sheer number of people near her.

However, she passed with flying colors on the physical test by becoming a ball of sheer stress and fluff and flinging her body like a demolition ball. She made eerie haunting noises that traumatized some people, but in truth, it was her stress sweeping out as uncontrollable shrieks.

She didn’t get in but was placed on probation for a spot in the next year if she got better grades on the next year’s test. When Shiketsu staff managed to go up the mountain she and her family lived to tell her she didn’t need to wait any further, Kyoko and her family almost died of a heart attack.

Kyoko is painfully shy and anxious, barely working if too many people are near her, and doing things out of sheer pressure. If pushed too much, she will screech like a banshee, curl in a ball, and fling her body like a demolition ball, in that state she does not make the distinction between friend and foe and will attack anything that moves.

Kyoko has naturally more fat than other people, which keeps her better insulated in the cold and regulates her temperature, it also softens attacks like her, able to even provide a small protection against bladed weapons and spiked ones. She also has more bone density, making her heavier and more resilient, able to withstand more impact and damage than normal people. Both combined make her almost unstoppable when going ball mode.

She loves to dig and eat, and when stressed she may start to dig through the floor and make tunnels to hide herself from view, or beeline towards the nearest fridge and raid it until she enters a food coma. Cameras make her whole body freeze. She naturally has a desire to hide and get out of people’s views. She also has surprisingly light and soft hands for someone with three fingers.

While she may appear to wear the “clothing” of a yeti, it in truth is a partial transformation, she has an innate desire to go into her yeti form due crippling social anxiety, making part of it like its head and claws always on. In truth, she prefers staying in her yeti form than her human one, a rare sight is her not transformed. When she transforms, the “cloth” envelops her whole body, turning her into a pint-sized yeti.

Because of her short legs as a yeti, she moves around like a gorilla or digs tunnels to move around, she has dug her tunnels all across Shiketsu to avoid meeting other people or being too stressed by them. (Shiketsu staff has no idea where those tunnels are, when and how she makes them, and have even fewer clues at how consistently she manages to raid the teacher room’s fridge).

As a Yeti, Kyoko has big claws and uses them to dig or defend herself in the famous T-pose, she has a thick layer of fluff fur all over her body, that coupled with her thick fat makes her body lose heat at a slow pace, and regulate her body heat. She can shoot rays of freezing snow and ice from her mouth. Because of its thickness, it also softens attacks done on her like armor.

However, her big claws ability to dig through concrete, and her ice breath are her biggest weapons. By curling in a ball pose, she can make ice appear on her fur, making sharp ice spikes on it, and by concentrating the ice on her fur, she can make those spikes act like pykrete ice. Covered in deadly ice spikes she wrecks everything unfortunate at being in her way.

Even without using her ice, the physical boost brought by her ice and her resistance makes her an effective demolition tool.

Because of her quirk, she has an innate desire to hide from other people, is deeply afraid of cameras, and can go on nasty rampages when stressed.
