“Mama mama can we make one of these.” Liena asked pointing to a picture of gingerbread men.

Leni took a look at the recipe it doesn't seem to hard she thought.
“Alright honey bunny we should have the ingredients around here.” Leni told her opening the pantry door.
Leni and Liena grabbed the ingredients they need and brought them out to the counter.
“What do we need Mama?” Liena asked stepping up on her stool to reach the counter.
“First we have to shift our dry ingredients together.”
Liena looked puzzled she never heard that term before taking a look at the recipe she sees her Mom's mistake.
“But Mama that says sift not shift.”
“ Oh haha that makes more sense then what I was thinking.”
“You're silly mama.” Liena said getting off her stool and grabbing the sifter they had.
“Here we go 6 cups of flour,” Leni said scooping up 1 cup of flour and pouring it into the sifter.
Liena happily turned the crank watching the flour poor out into the bowl below.
“Okay next is 1 teaspoon of baking powder,” Leni said grabbing measuring spoons.
“Wait Mommy is asking for a tablespoon, not teaspoon. See Tbsp means Tablespoon and Tsp means teaspoon.” Liena pointed out to hear.
“How did I get such a smart girl like you.” Leni said kissing her cheek.
Liena just giggled and mixed the rest of the dry ingredients together.
“Now what Mama?”
“Now we mix all the other ingredients together before we combine the rest.”
“Okay it's 1 cup of shortening” Liena said pouring it into a large bowl
“1 cup of Molasses.” Leni added in
“1 cup of packed brown sugar.” Liena said
“1/2 cup of water”
“ 1 egg”
“And finally one Teaspoon of vanilla.” Leni said with a wink.
“ Mix it together.” Liena said using a metal spoon to mix it together.
“Keep mixing and I'll add in flower and other goodies.” Leni said slowly pouring in the powder mixture.
By the time all of it was combined Liena’s arms where on fire from having to mix in all the ingredients.
“We almost done Mama?” Liena painted out trying to catch her breath.
“Almost sweetie now we just pat this down” Leni said pushing the dough down into a new bowl and covering it.
“It's going to be a little bit before we can actually bake it sweetie how about we watch some tv to pass the time.” Leni suggested pointing towards the living room.
“Can we watch my cooking shows.” Liena ask grabbing her mother's hand.
“ Of course sweetie we can.” Leni answered before being dragged into the living room.
After about 3 hours passed it was time for the two to enter final steps of the recipe.
“Let's now we take it out and cut the dough into two sections.” Leni said scooping up the dough in her hands.
“Wait Mama before that we need to put flour on the counter so it doesn't stick.” Leina said getting a scoop of flour and spreading it around the counter.
“Where would i be without you my little chef.” Leni sod before dropping the dough on the counter.
Leni the got a knife and carefully split the dough into two sections one for her the other Liena.
“Now Roll it out so it so we can cut our shapes into it.” Leni told her handing her a rolling pin.
“Like this Mama.” Leina asked rolling out the dough nice and smooth.
“Just like that.”
While she rolled out her dough. Leni got the oven started and warming up to proper temperature.
By the time the over was ready they had both rolled out the dough to perfection
”Can we cut out dough now?”
“Yes here use this.” Leni said handing her a Gingerbread Man cutter.
The little girl happily went to town on all the dough cutting out perfect gingerbread men each time.
While she was cutting them Leni was placing each one on a baking sheet and preparing them for the oven.
Once they had everything into the oven the gingerbread men went.
This was the longest 10 minutes of both of their lives but it all ended as soon as they heard a little bell go off indicating the cookies where ready.
Leni pulled the trays out and let them cool for a minute before picking up two of the gingerbread men out.
Handing one to Leina and the other for herself.
“To my little chief.” Leni said taking a bite out of her cookie and enjoying the taste.
“To my Mommy for helping me.” Leina said taking a bite of her cookie and savoring it.
The two spent the rest of the night watching more cooking shows and eating the rest of the gingerbread men.
