"Our instructors disapprove of his lack of work ethic. I find myself sympathetic. After all, who does not wish to slow down and enjoy the beauty in life? Much better than diving headfirst into its grotesqueries. It helps that his general disinterest makes him so easy to get along with."

"Too loud and too... moist. However, there is something appealing about the bond he shares with that creature. It must be nice. Fortunately, I don't seem to interest him as far as proving his might goes, and that hopefully will remain the case. It would be difficult to list the things that are not more worthy of spending my time on."

"Blindness must be peaceful, I think. I know well enough to leave it unspoken, but I enjoy being able to go unseen in his presence. It feels like his interest in me, and not as a tool. Maybe he's a little childish, but we are still children."

"The other's student, apparently. I cannot fathom that she is teaching her anything worthwhile, or is her master at the root of her clumsy words? If that's so, thanks are in order. There is little to fear of someone who wields words like a bludgeon slipping anything past me. I am not yet certain what the two of them are up to, but desperation is something I know well, and what few words she has shared with me have been drenched in it."

"I understand that way the Land of the Moon goes about things is 'different.' Still, there must be a limit, no? He appears far too old to be taking the same courses as the rest of us. And looks... It doesn't matter. Where he came from is not important as long as trouble doesn't follow him."

"Rats are...not the worst. His own behavior is more disturbing than his choice of companion. Far from the strangest, still, and I appreciate his directness. Much better than being strung along under false pretenses."

"The Uzumaki are victims of the envy and fear that power breeds. As one of the few still scattered about, his desire to pursue this path is beyond my understanding. He must be chasing vengeance for his clan, but he would be better off throwing away his pride and living quietly, if you ask me.

"I find it hard to believe he is older than I. Certainly too childish for his age; it may even be dangerous. It's also amusing, however. Just slightly. It would be nice if any of our instructors cared enough to address this behavior beyond ensuring his obedience in spite of it."

"A curious thing. Hard to think of him as a fellow student given his simple-mindedness, but whether he learns is no concern of mine. Even with his bothersome sluggishness, he is more pleasant than most."

"So many bothersome people, and she must be the worst. Much of that is likely due to age, at least, which cannot be said for some of the others. Plenty of time for discipline to be beaten into her."

"Unstable and rather unpleasant. No deep investigation is needed to be sure that he should be avoided. That much is written in the seals that cover him from head to toe. Whatever his own intentions may be, I am certain that associating with someone like that will lead to nothing good."

Hoshigaki Kazuyuki

"I am familiar enough with the Hoshigaki. The Kaguya Elder tended to speak approvingly of them, and I want nothing to do with a Clan he would approve of. Anyone they would cast out must be more marginally more pleasant, I suppose, but we seem to have a mutual disinterest in each other. Tch. It could be worth getting to know him. An excuse to be away from the other if nothing else."

"Although we have had limited interactions, I suspect he does not like me. If I had to guess the reason, it must be due to the lack of awe expressed for his abilities. Well, the sharpest blade is no better than a branch in a lacking wielder, and what he has shown is not particularly impressive."

"The exterior may be disfigured, but it is what lies within that is truly horrendous. Put plainly, his chakra network is mutilated. I find it odd enough to be suspicious, and were the decision left to me, Motomu would stay in my room. He seems harmless enough for now, but it is better that I don't give him the space to act freely."

"He shouldn't be here. He wouldn't have to be, were I not weak. But I am, and he is, so I will not fail again. That wretched thief will have to kill me before she even considers bringing him further harm, and the same goes for anyone else who thinks their weakness gives them the right to prey on my family."

"Polite, if nothing else. Another one only interested in what I am. His familiarity with this land and its people makes him difficult to brush off — if I can better ingratiate myself with the locals, then there is worse than bearing with some flattery. Still, I have doubts they could ever see me as one of them."

"If you ask me, it's no surprise that the life of a killer drove her to drink. Samurai or Shinobi, they're all the same — living to die. She is more... respectable than I initially believed, but her 'care' only serves to delude. I will not let the truth slip my mind, and neither should she. "

Fox

"My peers do not like her methods; she is hardly worse than Father used to be. In fact, she is much more pleasant than many of my previous teachers. But she reeks of blood just like them. I hope we never see each other again once I graduate."

Dogen

"His disinterest suits me just fine. The favor of his type means being treated as a curiosity, something to be studied. Were he not so low, he could not get along with shinobi. The fact that he is here leaves nothing more to be said."

"I find it odd how few of our instructors seem to be familiar with teaching, but he is the exception. He is comfortable. Too comfortable for my liking. Still, I can hardly complain about him knowing how to do his job, and he is much preferable compared to some others."
