The flickering light of the streetlamp above illuminated the pavement in an amber aura, a deceptively warm glow in contrast to the bitter winter chill of the evening.
You check the ornate watch on your wrist, a present you rarely had worn except for special occasions, two minutes late.
The restaurant had gotten rather crowded now, atleast you had the foresight to book an earlier timeslot for the date.
"Anon?"
A tug on your jacket sleeve and a small voice commanded your attention, Kronii was looking down, gripping the sleeve tightly.
The white faux fox fur that lined her large navy blue coat seemed to swallow her lower face in a soft, fluffy pillow. Her denim jeans clung to her slender, shivering legs, not the most suitable pair for this weather but atleast the large boots she wore stopped her slipping on the black ice.
She peeks up at you and wraps around your arm, shaking in the cold.
You zip open your jacket and Kronii swiftly moves to hug you, absorbing your warmth in a tight embrace, her head pressed firmly against your chest.
Reciprocating the action, Kronii males a little noise of elation. All warm and cosy wrapped in your masculine hold.
"Taxi for Anon?" A little beep of a car horn grabs your attention, it was time to go.
"Kronii, I have to head home now, we'll have another date soon!" You reassuringly pet her head as she looks up at you.
"N-no..." Kronii's eye were damp, she shook her head against your chest "No. Stay"
The taxi driver impatiently beeps his horn again, you release Kronii and move to get in.
Suddenly, a tight hold around your arm stops you, she's holding you back from leaving.
"Come home with me, don't go..."
Hesitating, the taxi driver scowling and Kronii on the brink of tears.
You relent.
"Sorry" you shake your head to the driver.
Kronii goes back to pressing against your warm chest, you feel a smile and hear a soft giggle muffled by your jumper.
She's happy you're staying.
