Founding War Eastern Campaigns: Factors for Victory

Superior will to fight:

Spread of religion, consolidated national identity(literacy, printing, chuuabanite tech), democracy
vs
badly managed gov, worsening economy, brutal repression, incited rebellion, inequality(schzio favored)

Manpower:

State owned grain farms, influx of immigration after establishing West, reconstruction boosted birth rate West, crossbowman easier to train, large corp of professional army and good talent, knowledge retention
vs
Gradual lost of grazing land(desertification etc) due to demand from military campaigns, repression led to mass migration, while further repression limited loss, still significant esp. when opportunity is presented, already lower number of resident in East, large military campaigns, even when losses are roughly equal, lower number and replenishment lead to gradual tippin gof balance, attrition slowly loses good archers and riders, and no one to replace them, repressive rule slowly eroded warrior culture and social structure, less and less ppl practices martial arts

economy:
access to the Sea after reclaiming West, encouraged Trade with neighbors, adoption of new/improved technology, paper currency, diversified economy with some standardization and industrialization
vs
Almost no commercial trade between neighbors, as merchants associated with schizo rulers shunned nor did state pursue trading, only with northern schizo tribes, disorganised economy, better categorised as kleptocracy, very artisanal focused, but factors e.g. pop loss and repression etc led to gradual loss of production

Military:
-Some open plains but crossbowmen outranges horse archers, deployable shields and better drilled soldiers allow slowly attrition enemy.
-Slow and steady advancement, building of fortifications and roads, allowed mostly unhindered supply and troop movements to the front.
-Heavily armed crossbowman and mounted crossbow guards convoys but significant amounts still attacked and captured esp in more open areas, though not enough to seriously hinder war
Previous reclamation of South East territory allowed for more horse production, whereas East slowly losing horses
controlled burning of grazing fields deprived Eastern army of horse provision
effective use of small unit tactics, 5-6 man teams with spear, deployable shields and crossbows
vs
largely untrained horde of schzios and undrilled levies
Brute strength wins sometimes but accuracy of missile fire not spectacular
Badly managed logistics means often lack arrows or effective weapons for East, need to resort to living off the land most of the time

politics:
East more chaotic?

Religion/myth Ideas:

-refugee and immigrants(melting pot?) restrictions but allows private worship?
-female warriors: more myth regarding them? (more egalitarian?)
-Animol: Dragon like mythical being? Different description in different texts, apperance depends on the character it exhibits in the myth? (Less monstrous when more of companion role to nameless one, more chimera like and monstrous when it plays "trickster"/antagonist role)
-are pre-prepublic deities more human or natural spirits?
-Epithet of Mumei:
different guilds, cities mainly worship different versions?
Other chuubas in pantheon
interaction between temples?
-friend as patron of rain and harvest? some minor role in excretory health?

Political Ideology(very old draft)

Origins?: lessons from early wars: government direction is needed, state-guided economy trumps completely private ones for war and security, mobilization requires everyone to play a part ; lessons from the fictional histories of Vitubia?: personalist regimes do not last long nor truly for the people, power ultimately derived from people, power corrupts
Built on earlier proto-libertarian thought

Classical Radicalism?:

  • Human are logical, able to reason, should not be exploited, thus are entitled to rights and freedoms
  • Under such freedom, free market and self-rule should be center;
  • risks despotism by concentrating power in the hands of a few, or misdirection due to human fallibility.
  • "Vices" are neither positive or negative, just human nature, best to be balanced
  • Thus government with checks and balances needed, and a well developed justice system to ensure fairness;
  • Value in theoretical, meritocratic classical liberal society, but from a utilitarian perspective, also needs to have safety nets and some forms of social justice to harvest potential of the free and reasoning members
  • Society can derive maximum value by cooperating and when needed, self-sacrifice to ensure continuation of such cooperation;
  • The government should be for the citizens and by them
  • Humanist, for progress, not just the state but also the world
  • Humanity desires better lives for oneself, also for posterity
  • Importance of empirical study, reasoning
  • However for situations where strict authority is needed, i.e. military & government, such rules can be reasonably ignored or scaled down (same reasoning as primacy of security of state)
  • At the same time, as the Nameless One laid foundation for the country, and its mission, the state carries sacredness(again, state security priority)
  • Duty of every citizen to defend the country, as they are bricks which build it, but also depends on cooperation of everyone (siege mentality)
  • Criminals are clearly too unreasonable to participate in cooperation of society, depending on circumstances, must either be corrected through learning re-integration in society(penal camps) or involuntary labor to reset on right path (though those who committed grave crimes (esp. to the state/ murder) should be tarred, as those obviously do not respect the rights of others and or the goddess)
  • Technology, knowledge greatest way for achieving better society, encourage sharing of such progress but not above stealing/underhanded methods to get it
  • Lead by example, no man is inherently more valuable than one's peers;
    encouraged exercise in humility and frugality
  • Good work ethics encouraged. Inequality tolerated to an extent, those who can work better/carry more responsibility naturally would earn more/be more competitive in such environment

Rivalry: Rural advocate for more cash crops? Mulberries for silk, grapes for wine & tobacco, cotton

Governance vs real world example

N. Europe influence on governing philosophy?
rest of Europe medieval: roads and rivers controlled by aristocrats?

economy controlled by few higher class

wide spread literacy and power to peasantry?

work towards communal good?
no colonies, benefit back at home more important?

national identity?
develop without distractions?

voluntary care for the people?
also voluntary contribution to the people?
inclusionary?

charity vs social insurance?
statistical state?
positive state (actively solve issues rather than wait for them?)

individualization of farming?
how adapted into large collective(farms?)

developmental democracy?
