"Irltroject" (pronounced EYE-AR-ELL-TROJECT) is a system term that is defined as: An introject in a system that considers themselves source-attached (i.e. identifying with their sourceself, source memories, and what they're from as a whole) and/or identifies as an "IRL". They do not necessarily have to use the term "IRL", but they still fit under the definition of one.

What the hell is a system?

Uh, good question. I'm not a medical professional so I won't get deep into it, but systems are the collective term used to refer to individuals with any of the following: Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), Otherwise Specified Dissociative Disorder 1 (OSDD-1), Partial Dissociative Identity Disorder (P-DID), or some cases of Unspecified Dissociative Disorder (UDD).

Okay, what's an introject?

Introjects double as both a type of alter and an alter role. The most basic definition of an introject is a system member who is based off of / takes characteristics from an external source in order to aid the system. These alters exist for the same reason any other alter would exist, and are no lesser than anyone else for having an external source. Common terms for introjects include: fictive/fictroject (an alter with a fictional source), factive/factroject (an alter whose source is a real person), and splitroject (an alter with multiple introjected sources). Multifictive/multifactive are also sometimes used instead of splitroject, and mean to have multiple fictional/factual sources, respectively.

Then what is an "IRL"?

"IRL" (short for In Real Life) is a (mildly controversial) term typically used by individuals with psychosis that have beliefs that they are in some type of media, or introjects in systems that are based off of an external source, i.e. real people or fictional characters. Originally, it was a term used by otherkin & fictionkin individuals, describing one's higher identities. "IRL" is occasionally still used by those who are 'kin. Note that not every self-proclaimed "IRL" is experiencing psychosis, because that would be an extreme form of watering down a life-impairing symptom of mental illness.

Can I call myself an irltroject if I'm a factive/factroject?

Yes, the term covers all types of introjects.

If I am a splitroject and only identify with some of my sources, can I still be an irltroject?

Yes, but it might help to specify which of your sources you are an irltroject of.

Can I be an irltroject if I'm in an "endogenic system"?

Ultimately, I can't stop you from using the term, but this term is intended to only be used by DID/OSDD-1/UDD/PDID systems. I (the coiner) do NOT support any forms of so-called "non-traumagenic plurality".
