Idle Hands
A Special Addition to Attached at the Hand
You pull the chain off of your wrist. It scrapes somewhat. Then you notice the large gash in your arm. Thick blood oozes from the ugly wound. You stare at it in a daze. Funny, it doesn't hurt. It looks like it should hurt.
Finally, you decide that you will have to clean and cover your arm so that you don't get an infection. You stand without much trouble and dust yourself off. You glance around again now that you have a better view.
"What am I doing here?" you ask out loud.
You are standing in the grassy ravine not far from the house where you live with your parents. You can quickly walk the few blocks and find everything you need to care for your arm.
You begin to walk forward with your arm cradled close enough to protect it and far enough to avoid spreading the blood all over your clothes. Blood stains don't come out, you think to yourself, even though you aren't sure how you know that.
The damaged phone catches your attention. You start to reach for it. Something stops you. You wonder why your phone was attached to your wrist, right at the hand.
