Ibuki's Musings
Hob's House
Bastly Ugard
"He's rather...toadlike. It's unfortunate since he does seem quite capable. Well, not magically — I don't understand how someone without an ounce of magic in their body could stumble into being the leader of a Magic Guild."
-Respects him as a leader, but not as her leader.
-Won't comment on his appearance out of respect.
-Will regularly pop into his office unannounced to complain.
Alaric Faulk
"It's strange to leave the kingdom's princess in the hands of a stranger to the land, isn't it? A lone bodyguard may not be very glamorous, but I do find him trustworthy and reliable enough. At times, he reminds me of my tutors. He's a fair bit more tolerable than those geezers, though. For his novelty, if nothing else."
-Enjoys bossing him around, but wouldn't have him do anything pointless.
-Will get jealous if he's busy with someone else when she wants him.
-Shills Fiore hard whenever he questions her. Is genuinely curious about his origins.
Seph
"That Demon... I cannot begin to fathom the reasons for which it is kept around and allowed to roam freely. I suppose it hasn't done anything yet and it at least pretends to be friendly. Still, I don't trust it. Whenever I have the misfortune of being near it, I feel the same unease that those horrid dreams give me."
-Convinced she's putting on an act and waiting for the right moment to go on a rampage.
-Has a habit of blaming her for anything that goes wrong when she's around.
-Will get flustered by any friendship attempts.
Moon's Watch
Father Mond
"He knows how to make an impression and Moon's Watch seems...let's say more put together than this Hob's House. He appears to actually keep respectable mages around instead of a band of rejects. He does seem quite fond of Ugard, so I suppose that's a good sign."
-Better fits her image of a proper guild leader with an esteemed guild.
-Will regularly and loudly lament that she was sent to Hhob's House instead of Moon watch.
Ciara Perrons
"A proper mage, though a tad bland if you ask me. Blander than she could be, at least. She does have an aura of mystery about her, but that can only take you so far without a proper flair for the dramatic. I mean, really, playing at being some forest hag? Not even a guardian of the woods?"
Yam
"A cute little thing. Someone ought to give him a real name, though. And teach him some common sense. Really, who confuses a God and a Demon? It would be like confusing some tavern wench with me. Well, I must admit that he's quite exceptional. Not as much as I was at his age, of course. How old is he anyway? Does he even know?"
Lanel Nol
"Some genius he is, having to resort to illegal magic to save his miserable life. Oh, I'm sure he has many impressive tricks to show off, but what's the point if you can't even keep yourself from decaying into an undead abomination? I suppose he isn't as bad as that Demon."
Cat Sid
"A little delusional, but certainly entertaining. Keeping those pets of his fed must be a hassle — I really couldn't be bothered to deal with more than a few. I wonder how many Jewels he spends on them? Must keep him busy."
Meliadne
"This adorable one would be better off joining me in the palace as a royal pet than dealing with all this silly guild business. It doesn't seem she'll go for that since she's busy 'making a better future' but I can wait. Surely having a queen's ear is the best way to create the future you desire."
Curie Lovelace
"A real braggart this one. She may have little knowledge and make some interesting toys, but what are those titles? They lack any semblance of charm. If you're going to speak such nonsense, then do it with your whole chest! Though, she doesn't seem to have much of one."
Chrysalis
Mory Pose
"I've heard that some child is running around trying to run a Dark Guild. Apparently, she used to be quite a powerful mage. An exceptionally cruel one at that. I can't say I'll be shedding tears over how criminals treat criminals, but I see no reason to mistreat your subordinates as long as they're loyal. I suppose that's what a lack of discipline does when you find yourself lording over others."
-Would probably get along with her if they found themselves together without knowing each other.
-Will flick her right in the forehead if given the chance.
The Woman With No Name
"Some half-naked loon escaped and took pity on that child, it seems. Maybe she'll raise her right this time? Oh, but I might be too much to ask criminals to keep other criminals in check. She calls herself a hero, but that Demon is too fond of her for that to be true."
Mitra Albus
"I've read her work and I can't say I'm impressed. I quite enjoy history and the study of magic, but just because she writes a few clever lines after defiling the corpses of those better than her doesn't make her deserving of respect. And am I to be pleased that some foreigner ravages my kingdom? Just a run-of-the-mill thief who's made up a pleasant enough justification to set her sights on Fiore's great treasures."
Layla
"I suppose outlanders are predisposed to barbarism. It's a shame, really. They're quite colorful, but how can we allow madwomen who wish to eat the flesh of Gods to roam around unchecked? I've heard she has some interesting ideas about love as well. All I'll say is that I have no interest in becoming someone's meal."
Lorus Azoth
"Who? No, I am perfectly aware of the powerful winged mage wielding silver. What I don't understand is how he somehow manages to be a complete nobody. I've no idea where people like him come from, but they come from somewhere and they have some grand heroics or horrific crimes associated with them. It's tempting to say that he's simply good at concealing his past, but it's my understanding that not even he knows. Must I go digging through archives to acquaint myself with the current state of my kingdom?"
Hag's Hex
Vera Escher
"How dreadful. An illegal guild has been allowed to prosper in such a nice village. They even have the gall to taunt a proper guild! Why exactly have they not been rooted out? Incompetence? Collusion? Whatever the reason, there will be hell to pay if I find myself in one of those dens of degeneracy while enjoying Balsam. Tch! The cow who runs it dresses like a tart. At the very least, I'm sure public indecency can be added to the list of charges."
-Another star-crossed friendship. The good people of Fiore will never know how narrowly they avoided a dark age.
-Is interested in checking out a backroom auction.
Axel Starr
"Not just a criminal, but a traitor too. This went and killed his former guild's leader after he was done using him. I'm not surprised by his treachery, but I am greatly disappointed. It's a wonder that he's even found another band of criminals to accept him. Even a Demon is preferable to someone like him."
Luckuv Thadraw
"Perhaps I was too quick to judge how Bastly runs his guild. I believed that he simply allowed anyone to waltz in, criminals really have no standards. I mean, really. How much does she get paid to be useless eye candy? Yes, I'm aware of the claims of her luck, but if she were truly lucky she'd be in my shoes."
Marak "The Boozehound"
"I was hoping to do a bit of shopping when I noticed a commotion. Of all the things that could have disturbed my plans, it was some barbarian eating the utensils along with his meal! I'm not even sure he paid for it... By no means am I in turning Fiore dry, but the stench of booze wafting off of him certainly made a strong argument."
Hilda Verblitz
"Just another meathead from the boonies. Some fools have criticized my temper, but not once have I enacted any form of violence for its own sake. After all, If every slight offense earns the same reaction then any punishment loses all meaning. This one doesn't seem to be satisfied unless her hands are bloodied, however. I suppose I shouldn't expect better."
Amare Pueramans
"I understand. Really, I do. What could be more desirable than to be beautiful and surround yourself with beauty? Why, I'd say it's the most natural thing for a man or woman to feel. Unfortunately, not all are deserving of the pleasures this world has to offer. It's simply the way things are. The best someone like him could hope for is that someone such as I take pity and allows him to polish their shoes."
Church of Mana
Saintess of Mana
"A scam artist. A clever one, but still a scam artist. If someone desires to make a pact with god, then I see no reason to pay some exorbitant price to a middleman. Enough Jewels can buy you power, but that's only if they end up in the proper hands."
Garl the Gallant
"Driving out petty warlords and restoring order is certainly a noble goal, but has he considered what a monumental task he's given himself? More precisely, has he considered the cost? What will you promise your liberators in exchange for their aid? If he's not careful, he'll see his home taken from by those that saved it."
Magic Council
Regier Bunkan
"If I'm not mistaken, and I rarely make mistakes, I've met him before. He works for the Magic Council — effective, but not a very fun man from what I've seen. I don't think I should be seeing him anytime soon. I may have problems with this arrangement, but Father would never have entrusted me with Hob's House if anything was truly wrong. If I do see him I'll be sure to stress the severity with which the Council needs to approach the matter of illegal guilds."
Elphasia Solaris
"I've heard that the Council has a pet dragon, but it sounds ludicrous. It's not that I doubt the truth of that statement. I just don't see why a dragon would limit itself to their whims. Why, if I were a dragon I wouldn't settle for any less than worship. But I suppose she must feel some sense of loyalty. After all, what child could bring herself to turn against their parent?"
Usannia Cloudbreaker
"Some people are born to lead and emblazon their name in history with their triumphs. Others, are meant to serve will have to role they played forgotten. It's a shame, really. Talent deserves to be noticed beyond determining who you get to serve, but that simply isn't how the world works. Still, I'd like to see this one do more than run errands fort he council."
Misc.
Lucius McShade
"Some people truly are unfortunate... Oh, it's nothing to get teary-eyed over, but I do pity someone so simple. There must not have been a thought in his head when I spoke to him. I mistook him for some sort of scoundrel, but the truth was far bleaker. I ended up giving the poor thing some Jewels to make sure he'd make it through the night, but he should see to finding a guild that can keep him out of trouble."
Flaus Facirmod
"I suppose his family must have fallen on hard times so he's resorted to a life of crime to make ends meet. Inferior breeding will fail eventually. Tragic, but a criminal is a criminal and I won't go easy on him just because his family used to be something. What kind of message would that send? That you can defy your Queen as long as you have some pocket change? I think not."
Seeker
"A rather interesting invitation, though I'm skeptical. This little shop does seem to offer a nice variety of items and services, but can you really trust someone like that to know what they're doing? She lacks any magical aptitude at all and thinks she could offer anything to a proper mage. Ridiculous. I do acknowledge that she may have done a little studying, but this whole thing reeks of desperation to me."
