Emissaries rest 'til darkness falls.

Answer:
The Owlery.
Explanation:
A tall tower which juts into the sky, tapering to a point at the top.
Zephyrus is the west wind, which hits the Owlery before any other part of Hogwarts.
Populated with numerous owls but no humans or larger creatures.
Messenger owls roost there during the day, and leave at night.
